Medical and chemical peels are one of the most effective treatments with an extremely wide spectrum of activity. Their remarkable properties have been appreciated by dermatologists and cosmetologists around the world. They work both on blemishes, acne, aging of the skin, dark circles under the eyes or vessels – globally renewing the skin, rejuvenating it and reducing all imperfections.
The procedure of chemical peels is not just exfoliation of the epidermis. Depending on the concentration, chemical composition, type of substance, we can have a different intensity on the skin. The most commonly used peels are hydroxy acids. These include AHA (α-hydroxy acids), BHA (β-hydroxy acids) and PHA (polyhydroxy acids). Depending on the effect of acids on the skin, superficial acids can be distinguished – they act only on the surface of the epidermis, medium deep – which reach the dermis and deep – penetrating the skin’s reticulatum layer.
Regardless of the selected type of acids, the effect will always be tissue regeneration, consisting in the destruction, elimination and regeneration of the skin. Acid-treated treatments are always accompanied by acidic treatments.
