Acne in pregnant women – skin care

Depending on the period of life and skin type, there are several varieties of acne. Such as: infantile, adolescent and adult acne, as well as the acne that occurs in pregnant women. Due to this division of acne in particular periods of life.  It differs from each other in the course, intensity of symptoms, length of holding on the skin. It is also the way of fighting acne changes.

Factors influencing acne in pregnant women

Hormonal imbalance is a typical symptom for pregnant women. It is associated with an increase in progesterone and increased sensitivity to androgens which can lead to overproduction of sebum. Acne problems appear in the first trimester of pregnancy. If the changes did not occur during this period, it is unlikely that skin problems will occur during the second and third trimesters.
Women who have had acne during adolescence or face a problem.  During their menstrual cycle are more likely to have acne during pregnancy. In some women, acne manifests itself as a single efflorescence, in others, it may assume much larger proportions.

What is acne therapy for acne changes?

It depends on the type of acne, location of the occurrence, degree of severity and the determinants. Each treatment should be preceded by a properly performed diagnosis to exclude the causes. After the elimination of factors generating acne lesions, an appropriately selected therapy should be initiated. Acne treatments are divided into three types: home, cosmetic and pharmacological treatments. Pharmacological methods of acne control are not recommended for pregnant women as they may adversely affect the development of the fetus. Acne skin care in pregnant women should focus on products with a high content of natural substances.

 

For home care we should use gels and tonics containing thermal water with the addition of opaque substances such as silica. Such products are enriched with provitamin B5, liquorice extract and pumpkin seed extract. Because these products will thoroughly remove impurities and excess sebum produced by the skin, leaving a feeling of freshness. Problematic skin requires a peeling 2-3 times a week.

Pregnant women should not use preparations containing AHA fruit acids (they may cause irritation and intensify discoloration). Retinol, tretinoins, which are derivatives of vitamin A. They can lead to damage to the fetus. Salicylic acid may cause birth defects in the fetus. Phthalates found in creams, lotions and body lotions make the product stick to the body and last longer on the skin. This toxic ingredient may lead to abnormal development of the fetal system.

 

What should skin care in a professional beauty parlour look like?

Care in a beauty salon should be based on gentle cleansing treatments. Fighting acne we struggle with eczemas. An effective and safe treatment for pregnant women is manual cleansing, which involves the manual removal of inflammation. However, we must remember that pregnant skin is more sensitive and prone to irritation. Therefore, the cleansing is performed in a very gentle manner. After cleansing, a serum is selected, which should not contain chemicals in its composition, and then an algae mask is applied, which in addition to the occlusion is designed to alleviate any redness and irritation.

Another safe treatment for a pregnant woman is microdermabrasion.

Diamond microdermabrasion is a procedure that deeply exfoliates the top layer of the epidermis and is fully safe for a pregnant woman. Acne is characterized by efflorescence in the form of pustules, blackheads, dilated pores. Microdermabrasion treatment is a mechanical peeling dealing with this type of problems.  Because it is designed to thoroughly cleanse the skin of dead epidermis. On the cleansed face skin the cosmetologist applies a properly selected serum and then an algae mask which silences the redness. After the treatments in the beauty salon it is necessary to use creams with UV filter.

The future mother should focus on relaxation, which positively affects the condition of the skin and mood. Treatments in beauty salons are a safe and pleasant alternative to fighting acne in pregnant women.
