Before laser procedure – the most important things you need to do

1. Make sure there are no contraindications

During laser hair removal, a medical laser is used that releases special light about 0.5 cm under the skin. The treatment is completely safe, but there are some contraindications that should not be carried out. First of all, laser hair removal should be given up by pregnant women, people struggling with viral, fungal and bacterial infections and having a pacemaker. Some skin conditions may also be contraindicated. Therefore, in case of any doubts, it is worth consulting a cosmetologist or doctor before laser treatment. It is also worth noting that laser hair removal cannot be performed on freshly tanned skin.

2. Take care of your skin

In order for the procedure to proceed properly, you must also pay attention to the proper skin preparation. Approximately 6 weeks, before visiting the salon, you should not pull out the hair, in a place that will be depilated, you can only shave. Before the laser treatment, you must give up tanning and being in the sun or in the solarium. Tanning can lead to burns during epilation or discoloration. A week before the procedure, you must not exfoliate the skin in any way, do peels. Take care of your skin condition and handle it very gently.

It is also very important to take care of our interior. Three weeks before the laser treatment, you should not take herbal teas. Photosensitizing effect have, i.e. arnica, St. John’s wort, chamomile, calendula or field horsetail. You also can’t take antibiotics, painkillers and anti-depressants.

4. Shave hair before laser procedure

Before the procedure, you must shave the area to be epilated with a razor. Thanks to this, the treatment time will be much shorter. When going to the treatment for the first time, it is worth leaving a tuft of hair. The specialist carrying out the treatment can assess what parameters to apply so that the treatment is maximally effective. It is also good to wash the skin with a delicate gel or soap, the laser works best in a clean place. However, do not use antiperspirants, creams, lotions and other products.

If the skin is properly prepared, you can be sure that the treatment will be completely safe, without any complications, and the effect will be satisfying. To completely get rid of hair in a given place, you need to perform several series of lasers.
