Teenagers are a growing group of clients using beauty parlors. This is not a surprising phenomenon, given that during puberty everyone begins to focus more on their appearance. Teenage people experience many physical, hormonal and emotional changes. First of all, the body quickly increases its mass and height. Tertiary sexual characteristics appear (among others, the appearance of
specific body and facial hair, a typical distribution of fat in the body).

The so-called  hormonal storm results in increased sebum secretion.  In the face, neck, décolleté and back, greasy hair and increased sweating. In addition, acne often appears in various forms (e.g. blackhead, papulo-pustular, purulent, concentrated).

All changes occur in a relatively short period of life, which is why a teenager may feel insecure. To help the skin of a teenager, it is worth using the help of a cosmetologist.

What treatments cannot be performed on a teenager?

In order for a teenager to undergo therapy in a beauty salon. The client’s card should be accompanied by a card permitting the procedure signed by hand by the parent or legal guardian.
Despite having the parent’s signature, the cosmetologist sometimes cannot perform the procedure on a teenager. This is the case, for example, with ultrasound procedures. The contraindication to perform procedures using sonophoresis or cavitation is the infinite period of bone growth.

The same is true for laser treatments. An unstable hormone balance is an important contraindication during laser therapy. As is well known, teenagers undergo many hormonal changes.
For this reason, laser therapy could be ineffective or could lead to a number of adverse reactions, e.g. prolonged skin regeneration.

What cabinet procedures can be safely performed by a teenager under the watchful eye of a cosmetologist?

teenager in a beauty salon

So what can a cosmetologist suggest to a teenager in a beauty salon? At our Institute, each procedure is preceded by consultation with a cosmetologist. Based on the diagnosis of skin condition, interview and exclusion of contraindications to perform the procedure. The specialist individually proposes a cleansing plan. First of all, cleansing the skin.
If a teenager does not have inflammatory changes on his skin, a good cleansing procedure is to perform diamond microdermabrasion.

Diamond microdermabrasion is the exfoliation of keratinized epidermis with the help of tips covered with diamond dust. We exfoliate gradually with linear movements. The procedure is painless, does not require recovery, and irritation after the procedure should disappear up to 48 hours. During the procedure, dead skin is exfoliated, which is why subsequent preparations will be better absorbed through the skin. The appearance of the skin after the treatment is significantly improved: blackheads are reduced and the skin becomes softer.
However, if your teenager has many blackheads, then diamond microdermabrasion alone may not be enough. It is worth combining diamond microdermabrasion with manual skin cleansing in one treatment procedure.
After exfoliation of the stratum corneum, the cosmetologist applies a preparation that relaxes the epidermis and facilitates the removal of blackheads. The skin is then exposed to water vapor, so that impurities should be removed in a less painful way. After a few minutes, the person performing the procedure washes the skin loosening product.  And begins the procedure of manual skin cleansing.

chemical peels

At the end of the procedure, the cosmetologist puts on a soothing mask, which is washed off after a few minutes and applies a serum and cream that soothes irritations. Blackheads and papules are removed by manual cleansing. After the treatment, the skin may be much more irritated, but it is a time effect and disappears within 72 hours. The manual facial cleansing treatment can be extended to include darsonvalization. It is an ozone generating device that has a disinfecting effect. Darsonvalization reduces the risk of inflammatory lesions and reduces existing pustules. Darsonvalization treatment is not recommended if a teenager suffers from epilepsy or has metal implants or a pacemaker in his body. In addition to darsonvalization, manual cleansing can be extended to include chemical peeling.
Chemical peeling will penetrate into the enlarged mouths of sebaceous glands and there it will exfoliate, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. If a teenager has many inflammatory changes, this is a contraindication to manual skin cleansing. In this situation, you must first perform a one-time treatment or a series of treatments that will mute the existing inflammatory changes and reduce their formation.  Chemical peels usually have a formula in which the manufacturer combines several.  Acids in various proportions to optimize the product’s effectiveness. Chemical peels primarily exfoliate the skin and regulate its keratinization, which is why the treatment strongly reduces the formation, size and number of blackheads.
In addition to performing cabinet procedures, a teenager should properly care for his complexion and lead a healthy lifestyle. Holistic action brings the greatest results then.
