The ruler had previously banned marrying and starting a family for young warriors.
Bishop Walenty was thrown into prison for an overt manifestation of opposition. In a closed facility, he fell in love with the daughter of his guard who was blind. The girl, under the influence of mutual love, was healed – suddenly she began to see. Unfortunately, Walenty was definitely convicted of disobedience to the most severe punishment – death. On the eve of the execution he wrote a letter to his beloved, with the signature: “From Your Valentine”. The execution was carried out exactly on February 14, 269.
