We associate lip augmentation with artificiality, vanity and Hollywood stars. However, this is not quite the case and the name “lip modeling” would be better here, because with one treatment you can give your lips a fuller shape, emphasize the contours or even out the asymmetry. Lip augmentation is not only for young women modeled on celebrities. It is good option for older ladies. Their lips have lost their firmness and diminished over time. So let’s learn a little more about the procedure to dispel any doubts.
How to prepare for the procedure?
Lip augmentation treatment does not require any special preparation. One week before the procedure, it is recommended to limit the intake of anticoagulants and anti-inflammatory drugs. You should not drink alcohol a day before and after the procedure. Additional individual recommendations may be provided by a physician during the consultation.
Should I be afraid of the exaggerated effect?
It really depends on us what effects we expect. If the treatment is to be a delicate underlining and modeling of the lips, there is nothing to fear. The most important thing is to discuss the treatment thoroughly with your doctor and give him specific expectations. The amount of the preparation that the doctor will use during the treatment depends on it. To shape your lips and improve their shape, you really need only a little preparation, because only about 0.5 – 1 ml.
How long will the effect last?
The effect of enlarging or modeling the lips lasts from 6 to 12 months. Then hyaluronic acid, which is injected into the mouth, is naturally processed by biochemical changes taking place in the body. Therefore, one treatment for life is not enough. It is recommended to repeat the treatment to refresh the effect. In a situation where we do not like the effect, we can be sure that after a few months our lips will return to their original state.
When will I see the first results?
After the lip augmentation procedure, the lips are usually slightly swollen, and small bruises may also appear. Hyaluronic acid must bind water, so the final effect is usually seen 5 – 6 days after the procedure. During this time, it is recommended to drink a large amount of still water. Special mouth protection against injuries and high temperature (sunbathing or a visit to the sauna are not recommended). A professionally performed procedure does not cause any discomfort. Evenly introduced hyaluronic acid does not interfere with daily activities and does not affect the innervation of the lips.
How much does the procedure cost?
The price of the treatment depends on the amount of hyaluronic acid used and usually ranges from 800 to 1500 PLN.
Are the preparations used for lip augmentation safe?
Hyaluronic acid used to fill the mouth is a naturally occurring acid in the body. The acid binds water in the dermis, making it elastic and firm. With age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in our body decreases, which causes, for example, the appearance of wrinkles. The product introduced into the skin, in the place we want to fill, binds water, which increases the volume. Hyaluronic acid used in cosmetic procedures is in the form of a gel. Interestingly, it also has moisturizing properties. Therefore, especially for older women, it is not recommended for lip augmentation,
and more to restore their moisture, softness and elasticity.
Lip augmentation – Is the procedure painful?
Everything depends on the individual pain threshold. Mental attitude, fear of the needle, as well as hormones and women’s monthly cycle. Preparations used for lip enlargement, in addition to hyaluronic acid, also contain the addition of lidocaine, which is a pain reliever. For patients with high tolerance to pain, this does not require additional anesthesia. However, for women who fear paralysis and yet want to undergo lip augmentation, local anesthesia with a special ointment is used. However, the ointment works superficially, so the patient may experience slight discomfort.
Natural lip augmentation – is it possible?
Browsing the internet tips for lip augmentation, you can come across a variety of methods. Ranging from massage with a toothbrush to masks made of spices such as tabasco, cinnamon and pepper. Let’s think, however, whether we want to fund such experiments on the delicate skin of the lips. After such treatments, instead of looking beautiful, the lips will be hurt, cracked, stinging. The next days will require special care. It is not worth experimenting.
