Contrary to appearances, moisturizing the skin is a complicated phenomenon. It depends on the penetration of water from the interior of the body into the dermis and epidermis and the ability of the skin surface to retain this molecule.

Water gets into the skin because of the difference in osmotic pressure. The percentage of water in our skin decreases as we approach the stratum corneum. Dermis has about 20 to 80 percent water. Closer the epidermis, the amount of water in the skin decreases. The smallest amount of water is the stratum corneum, which is about 15%.  Process of water escaping through the skin is called TEWL (transepidermal water loss).

The increase in TEWL is often caused by external factors (e.g. wind, low humidity, surfactants, sun). Another reason for increased TEWL is the weakening of the hydrolipid layer on the skin. The hydrolipidic coat consists of secretions of sweat and sebaceous glands, as well as lipids released from epidermal cells. Another reason for increased water leakage through the skin is weakening of NMF (a natural moisturizing factor). NMF is a large group of water-binding substances that are found in the epidermis.

To moisturize your skin, you need to act holistically. Consuming a minimum of 2 liters of water a day and limiting salt, coffee, tea and alcohol in the diet will result in improved hydration, firmness and elasticity of the skin and contribute to better well-being. In addition to activities from the inside, you should also try to reduce the water leakage from the epidermis. To do this, rebuild the hydrolipid coat and increase the amount of water-binding substances in the epidermis.

Every skin needs hydration, regardless of whether it is dry, atopic, with a weakened hydrolipid coat, with the coexistence of pruritus and allergic changes, or acne, oily and inflammatory skin.

While moisturizing dry skin seems obvious, it often happens that oily skin is intentionally dry, which is a big mistake in care. In home care, oily skin needs moisturizing substances, non-comedogenic nutrients and gentle cleansing with delicate surfactants. Otherwise, oily skin will produce more sebum to seal the hydrolipid coat. If the skin with the problem of blackheads and inflammatory changes is undergoing dermatological treatment (e.g. use of antibiotic anti-acne ointment), drying and irritation is very likely. Appropriate care will reduce the undesirable effects of dermatological therapy and allow for further treatment.

Our Institute’s offer includes a large number of moisturizing treatments. Medical peels and other Mediderma products are the first group. Products with a moisturizing effect include, above all, Argipeel Peels (recommended for very sensitive skin), Lactipeel (for dehydrated and hyperpigmented skin), Azelac AZ (dedicated for vascular skin) and Mandelac M (for oily skin and with signs of aging). In the moisturizing procedure it is worth using ampoules, e.g. Natuvalia for sensitive skin with a tendency to redness. The Mediderma brand has many products that can be combined in one treatment procedure to create a personalized optimal treatment.

EstGen is another example of a moisturizing treatment. It is dedicated to skin requiring the restoration of homeostasis or physiological processes in the skin. EstGen products rebuild the skin’s hydro-lipid coat, have anti-inflammatory properties and accelerate skin regeneration. EstGen products can be used in the course of dermatoses (AD, psoriasis, acne vulgaris), to improve the skin structure (wrinkles, flaccidity, photoaging, dilated sebaceous glands) and in the treatment of scars.

Moisturizing substances can be applied not only to the surface of the skin, but also by injection directly in place of the problem.

Needle mesotherapy is a moisturizing treatment that revitalizes, reduces wrinkles and tightens the skin. After removing make-up and disinfection, the ointment is applied with local anesthesia, thanks to which pain during the procedure is significantly less. After a dozen or so minutes, the anesthesia is washed off and an injection occurs with a preparation suitable for the indications. Depending on the problem, you can choose an ampoule for dry, oily or mature skin. Taking a large dose of water before and immediately after the treatment increases the effectiveness of the moisturizing treatment even more.

Another proposal for a moisturizing treatment is to perform therapy with SKEYNDOR products. The most moisturizing treatments include the Power Hyaluronic and Aquatherm sets. Power Hyaluronic is a moisturizing treatment based on the action of low and high molecular hyaluronic acid and xylitol. It is intended for all skin types, especially dry and dehydrated.
In turn, the Aquatherm moisturizing treatment bases its action on thermal water to soothe irritation and inflammation. It also contains prebiotic sugars and NMF strengthening ceramides. The Aquatherm moisturizing treatment is dedicated to dry and sensitive skin. Both Power Hyaluronic and Aquatherm sets can be performed safely during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Another advantage of SKEYNDOR treatments is the positive sensory experience, which is why you should choose this type of moisturizing treatment if, apart from effectiveness, you also want to relax. The moisturizing treatment is the perfect complement to home care!
