Biostimulators / skin boosters for women

Biostimulators from a female perspective

This is most often part of a considered plan of prevention and regeneration: improved hydration and radiance, increased density in thin skin, work on the neck, décolletage and hands, support for the delicate eye area, and, in more mature skin, rebuilding density and supporting facial contour. These are classic biostimulators for women.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Loss of firmness and elasticity — skin that no longer "holds" as it used to.
  • Thin, low-density, "paper-like" skin with visible capillaries.
  • A grey, tired tone and lack of radiance.
  • Fine lines on the face, neck, décolletage and hands.
  • Dehydration that doesn't resolve despite good home care.
  • Delicate, thin skin around the eyes and a "tired look" (with selected products).
  • Prevention — wanting to slow ageing, usually from around age 30.
  • Regeneration of skin after intense sun exposure or during the perimenopausal period.

The areas we work on

  1. face, neck, décolletage and hands — a "layer of skin quality";
  2. thin eye area and a "tired look" (with selected products);
  3. prevention from 30+ and during perimenopause;
  4. often alongside fillers and Botox, as part of a comprehensive plan.

Biostimulators from a female perspective

A woman's skin ages to a slightly different rhythm than a man's. Throughout life it responds to hormonal fluctuations — the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and in time the perimenopausal transition, when oestrogen production falls and the skin loses its former density, elasticity and ability to retain water faster than that of her peers. Added to this are the zones women pay particular attention to: the eye area, neck, décolletage and hands — places that betray age often earlier than the cheeks or forehead.
Biostimulators and skin boosters reach where a cream simply can't — literally. Delivered by injection, they reach deep into the skin and activate its own repair mechanisms: fibroblasts start producing collagen again, the extracellular matrix regenerates, and skin holds hydration from within. There's no "plumping" effect here — just skin that looks like it did in its best years.

A woman's goal: not changing features, but improving skin quality

This is one of the most important things patients hear before their first treatment: a biostimulator does not change facial features and does not add volume. It will not lift a cheek, it will not fill a groove — that is the role of a filler. A biostimulator makes the skin itself become better: firmer, denser, more hydrated and radiant. The effect is natural and hard to pinpoint — those around you can see that you look fresh and healthy, but they cannot say what has changed.
This is often exactly what women who want to "do something" but don't want to look "done" are looking for. Biostimulation is a treatment that works in the background — subtly, gradually and with a cumulative effect.

Areas especially important for women

The face is the obvious starting point, but biostimulators work just as well — sometimes with even more visible results — in areas that home care most often neglects.
  • Neck and décolletage — thin skin in this area ages quickly and is heavily exposed to the sun. A biostimulator increases density and improves tone, and the "continuity" effect with the face makes a huge aesthetic difference.
  • Hands — skin here loses density and hydration early. Selected biostimulators (such as Sunekos, Jalupro) revitalise this area excellently, evening out tone and improving hydration.
  • Eye area — delicate, thin and demanding. Suitable products (such as Sunekos Body) are one of the few injectable options for this zone, giving a "less tired look" without botulinum toxin.
  • Prevention from 30+ — before visible changes appear; skin boosters as regular maintenance for skin quality, before it needs "repairing".
  • Perimenopause — when skin loses density faster, collagen biostimulators (longer-acting products) can compensate for reduced endogenous production and rebuild the skin's scaffolding.

Biostimulators as part of a comprehensive women's treatment plan

Many clients combine biostimulators with Botox and fillers — and this makes sense, because these methods work on different levels. Botox smooths expression lines, a filler rebuilds volume, and a biostimulator improves tissue quality in the background. Skin with a good internal structure responds better to every subsequent treatment — filler results look more natural, and Botox settles more evenly on elastic, hydrated skin.
We also often introduce biostimulators as part of regeneration after an intense summer, a long stressful period, or during menopause — when skin needs a stimulus to trigger self-repair. A cream won't do that. A biostimulator will.

Frequently asked questions

Will this "plump up" my face or change my features?
Absolutely not. This is one of the most common misunderstandings — and completely understandable, since all injectable treatments tend to get lumped together. Biostimulators and skin boosters don't add volume and don't fill anything. They work at the tissue level: hydrating, stimulating collagen, improving density. The result is yours, natural — your face after treatment looks like your face in a better version, not like a different face.
When is it worth starting, before wrinkles appear?
Preventive biostimulation makes sense from around the age of 30, and with thinner or more dehydrated skin even earlier. This is not a treatment "for mature skin" — it is a treatment "for skin that is starting to lose the pace of its own regeneration". The earlier you start, the lower the cost (literally and in terms of the result) of later regeneration.
Can I have biostimulators during my cycle — are there times when it's better to avoid it?
Just before your period, skin tends to be more sensitive and your pain threshold slightly lower — so it's better to avoid those few days for a more comfortable treatment. There's no hard rule against it, but comfort and healing are usually better in the first half of the cycle. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are absolute contraindications.
Can I combine skin boosters with mesotherapy, laser and peels?
Yes, but in the right order and with proper spacing. Laser, Dermapen or a deep peel should come first, and a biostimulator ideally follows after around 2–3 weeks, once the skin has fully recovered and is ready for another stimulus. Mesotherapy and skin boosters can complement each other within one plan — a specialist will schedule sessions so each treatment builds on the last, rather than overlapping with it.
How many sessions do I need, and how often should I repeat them — I've heard different things?
Most plans start with a series of 2–4 sessions, followed by maintenance. Frequency depends on the product: hydrating skin boosters are usually repeated every few months, while collagen biostimulators (such as Sculptra or Profhilo) can maintain results for up to around two years. The different answers you've heard come from the fact that products genuinely have different action profiles. At your consultation, we'll determine which product suits you and how often to use it.
