BROWS & LASHES

Full lashes every morning
“straight from bed”

You open your eyes and they're already there — full, curled, ready. Lash extensions add individual synthetic fibres to your own lashes, one by one, using specialist lash adhesive. The effect grows with you: from a barely noticeable fill (classic 1:1), through visible volume (Russian Volume), to a full, dramatic look (Hollywood).

The best part is what you don't have to do — no mascara, no curler, no dark smudges after a workout or a good cry at the cinema. At J'adore Instytut, this treatment is performed by a brow & lash stylist. Below we've gathered everything worth knowing before your first visit — including why a patch test for the adhesive is not something we skip.

  • You want to save time in the morning
  • You have light, short or sparse lashes
  • You can't stand panda eyes
  • You wear glasses or contact lenses
  • You have an occasion
  • You like a dramatic effect
  • You want something subtle

How it works

How it works

The stylist attaches synthetic lashes to your own, individually, close to the base, using hypoallergenic lash adhesive. The eyelid skin isn't involved: we work on the hair, not the skin, so nothing is pierced or breached. Each attached lash "rides" on one of your natural lashes and sheds with it when that lash falls out in its own cycle.

What separates the methods? The number and thickness of synthetic fibres attached to each natural lash. Classic 1:1 means one synthetic lash per natural lash — the effect is "I have nice, full lashes," not "I have lash extensions." With volume techniques (Russian), each natural lash carries a delicate, hand-made fan of several ultra-fine fibres — hence density without weight. Hollywood / Mega Volume uses the fullest fans for a complete, stage-ready look.

Three elements of the bond in cross-section: the extension lash at the top, a thin layer of adhesive beneath it, and at the base the natural lash of the client. The bond is formed a fraction of a millimetre from the skin, on a single hair — one extension lash to one natural lash. The skin of the eyelid and the hair follicle are not the working area, which is why they are not in the drawing.

Good to know: real volume doesn't come from "thicker" lashes — it comes from many extremely fine fibres arranged into a fan. That's why genuine Russian Volume is feather-light — a set of 12 micro-fibres weighs less than a single thick synthetic lash. This is why "1D Hollywood" (one heavy lash faking volume) strains and damages natural lashes, while true Volume doesn't.

Styling for women and men

What's different

For her

Your lashes, your rules — no mascara required

This is mainly a treatment for women — and most of this section is written for you. Lash extensions for women usually mean a full eye styling: we choose the method (1:1, Russian, Hollywood), the curl (from soft to strongly curled) and the lengths to enhance your eye shape — lifting a drooping eyelid, "opening up" a round eye, or elongating an almond shape.

The areas we support

  1. 1:1 classic — natural, everyday fill;
  2. Russian Volume (2:1 / 3:1) — visible, lightweight volume;
  3. Hollywood / Mega Volume — full, dramatic effect for special occasions;
  4. cat-eye or doll-eye effect — shaped through length and curl.
For him

A look that speaks for itself

Men take care of their eyes too — although lash extensions for men are less common. A softer, non-extension styling tends to work better here: a lash lift (curling your own lashes) and lash tinting for a deeper, more "awake" look, without the appearance of makeup.

The areas we support

  1. Goal: a fresher, less "tired" look — naturally;
  2. Usually a lift rather than full extensions;
  3. Tinting light lashes for a "well-rested" effect, not a "done" one.

From the stylist

I usually recommend a lash lift for men rather than extensions — the "well-rested" look without the risk of anyone spotting added fibres. We do full extensions for men deliberately — for a photo shoot or a performance, for example.

Safety and the patch test

What really matters

With lash extensions, comfort and safety come down to three things — worth asking about at any salon:

  1. Patch test for the adhesive

    Lash adhesive is a chemical product working right next to the eye. On your first visit, or if you have sensitive eyes, we carry out a patch test before treatment — a small amount of adhesive is applied to a safe area to check for a reaction. It only takes a few minutes and protects your eyes from stinging, watering or swelling.

  2. Who performs the treatment and how

    What matters is proper lash isolation (each synthetic lash on a single natural lash — no clumping) and choosing the right weight for your natural lash. A poorly matched, too-heavy lash strains and weakens your own.

  3. Hygiene and adhesive quality

    Fresh adhesive, single-use accessories, clean tools. Cheap, harsh adhesive can sting and irritate the conjunctiva.

Warning sign: a salon that skips the patch test · If a salon doesn't offer a patch test even though it's your first time or you have sensitive eyes, that's a warning sign. So is rushing, clumping lashes together instead of applying them individually, suspiciously cheap "1D Hollywood," or not asking about the condition of your lashes. You have every right to ask about the adhesive, the isolation method and the patch test — a good stylist will answer without hesitation.

Contraindications

When to postpone

Some contraindications are permanent, others temporary — in which case we simply postpone the treatment until the situation resolves. Nothing medical, just common sense when working right next to the eye:

We don't perform it
  • Allergy to lash adhesivethis is why we carry out a patch test before your first visit.
  • Eye infection or inflammationstye, conjunctivitis, trachoma, a "red eye" — we wait until it's fully healed.
  • Irritated, flaking eyelid skinfor example a flare-up of atopic dermatitis or seborrhoeic condition — we postpone.
  • A recent treatment near the eye(such as surgery, a strong peel, or fresh permanent makeup) — we wait as recommended.
  • Very weak, thinning natural lashesin this case, we address lash condition first (conditioner, lift), with extensions added later and gently.
  • Watery, very sensitive eyes / contact lens intolerancemention this at booking, and we'll choose a gentler method and adhesive.

From the stylist

The most commonly overlooked issue is eye infection. "It's just a small stye, I'll be fine" — it's not worth the risk. Adhesive and accessories work exactly where the inflammation is; it's better to postpone by a few days than prolong the irritation.

This isn't a complete list — we'll go through your history, allergies and lash condition individually at booking and at the start of your visit.

Aftercare

What you can and can't do, and when

How long your extensions last depends largely on what you do after your visit. There's one rule: during the first 24 hours, the adhesive is reaching full strength — we don't want it getting wet or warm in that time. After that, a few simple habits are all you need.

  1. Water and getting wet

    Wait a day or two

    For the first 24 hours (sometimes two — the stylist will confirm), don't get your lashes wet: no long showers on your face, no pools, no heavy sweating. After that, wash normally — just gently.

  2. Sauna, hammam, steam

    Go carefully in the first few days

    Hot steam loosens the adhesive, especially early on. Skip the sauna and hammam for the first few days, then use them in moderation afterwards — steam shortens how long extensions last.

  3. Oils and oil-based cosmetics

    Avoid near the eyes

    This one matters: oil dissolves adhesive. Eye makeup remover, creams and pads containing oil will loosen your lashes. Use oil-free eye products.

  4. Brushing

    Daily

    In the morning, gently comb lashes with a dry brush — they'll settle evenly and lie nicely. It's the simplest habit that makes the biggest difference to how they look.

  5. Sleeping

    On your side / on silk

    Sleeping face-down crushes your lashes. Sleep on your side or back, ideally on a silk or satin pillowcase — less friction, longer-lasting results.

  6. Removing lashes yourself

    Never

    Most important of all: never pull off or tear out extensions yourself — you'll take your natural lash with it and weaken the follicle. Removal is done by the stylist, using a safe product.

Warning sign: the temptation to "just pull it off"

When lashes start to thin, it's tempting to "finish the job" yourself. Pulling out an extension takes your own lash with it — done regularly, this leads to thinning and weakened lashes. Always book a removal with your stylist, or wait for them to fall out naturally.

Frequently asked questions

  1. QuestionDo lash extensions look fake?
    AnswerNot necessarily — it all depends on the method and length chosen. Classic 1:1 gives you "nice, natural-looking lashes," not "I have extensions." A fake look usually comes from lashes that are too long or too heavy for your natural base — which is why we choose them to suit you, not to go "all out."
  2. QuestionWhich method should I choose — 1:1, Russian or Hollywood?
    Answer1:1 gives a natural, everyday fill and works well for a first time. Russian Volume (2:1 / 3:1) gives light, visible volume. Hollywood / Mega Volume gives a full, dramatic look for special occasions. The final choice is up to the stylist, who assesses your lash condition in person.
  3. QuestionCan I choose a "cat-eye" or "fox-eye" shape?
    AnswerYes — we shape the effect through lash length and curl. Longer lashes at the outer corner create a cat-eye/fox-eye look; even, curled lashes create a doll-eye effect. We discuss this at the start of your visit.
