PQ Age for women

Your skin after 40 — and why PQ Age fits here

PQ Age for women is most often the answer for skin over 40, perimenopausal and photoageing: loss of firmness, "greyness", hyperpigmentation (including melasma — often worsened after pregnancy or during hormone therapy). This is where the phytoestrogen complex works particularly hard, which is why the peel is often chosen as part of a rejuvenation programme — either on its own or paired with biostimulators.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Loss of firmness and early sagging of the facial contour — skin that's less taut, "slipping" cheeks, and density that decreases with age.
  • Mature and perimenopausal skin — where declining oestrogen levels affect elasticity; this is where phytoestrogens work particularly hard.
  • Grey, tired, dull skin — without radiance, "older than its years" due to photoageing.
  • Hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone — sun-induced (age spots), melasma, post-acne marks (PIH).
  • Fine lines and compromised texture — the cumulative effect of exfoliation and biostimulation over a series.
  • Neck, décolletage and hands — zones often overlooked, yet quick to reveal age.
  • Skin being prepared for other treatments — improving condition ahead of biostimulators or threads.

The areas we work on

  1. loss of firmness and the beginning of a sagging contour;
  2. melasma and sun-induced hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone;
  3. grey, radiance-lacking skin, fine lines;
  4. neck, décolletage and hands — zones that give away age.

Your skin after 40 — and why PQ Age fits here

Women's skin over forty changes in several directions at once: oestrogen levels drop, fibroblasts produce less collagen, the facial contour starts to "slip", and hyperpigmentation — sun-induced, pregnancy-related, or intensified by contraception or HRT — becomes increasingly visible. This is exactly why PQ Age suits mature and perimenopausal skin so well: the phytoestrogen complex (including soy isoflavones and resveratrol) binds to the same receptors as oestrogens and gently stimulates fibroblasts to rebuild — without a hormone in a jar, and without any systemic effect.
DMAE gives a noticeable tightening effect almost immediately after the treatment. The acids (lactic and salicylic) work on skin tone and texture. And the tyrosinase-inhibiting ingredients suppress the recurrence of hyperpigmentation — including melasma, which particularly affects women during HRT or after pregnancy.

Zones women most often neglect — neck, décolletage, hands

Your face might be well cared for, while your neck and décolletage give away your age. This is a real phenomenon: the skin in these zones is thinner, more exposed to the sun, and less often included in a skincare routine. PQ Age can be applied to the extended zone (face + neck + décolletage) or to the hands — there it brightens age spots and improves skin quality.
If you're planning a series ahead of an important event (a wedding, a photo shoot, an anniversary), schedule it several weeks in advance — allowing time for flaking to clear and your skin to even out before the date.

Melasma — when PQ Age is enough, and when depigmentation is needed

PQ Age works on hyperpigmentation — but it isn't a depigmentation protocol. For lighter sun-induced spots combined with loss of firmness, the treatment is often sufficient. For difficult, recurring melasma, a Cosmelan/Dermamelan protocol will be more effective, with PQ Age supporting it by improving skin tone and firmness. The decision always follows a skin assessment at consultation.

The microneedling variant — when it's worth it

If loss of density is pronounced, or you want the active ingredients to work deeper, your cosmetologist may suggest the variant combined with needling meso. Microneedling creates channels through which phytoestrogens and DMAE reach deeper, and the injury itself triggers additional collagen production. This breaks the skin barrier — it means a different recovery time (a little more redness, more downtime after the treatment) and a stricter list of contraindications. One point in particular matters: active cold sores — even on the lips, when the peel is applied to the face — are an absolute contraindication; the needling variant reactivates them even more easily.

Frequently asked questions

Do phytoestrogens in the peel "act like hormones" — is it safe with hormone-dependent cancer or HRT?
Phytoestrogens (soy isoflavones, resveratrol) are plant compounds with a structure similar to oestrogens — they bind to skin receptors and gently stimulate fibroblasts, but they have no systemic effect like hormonal medication. If you have a history of hormone-dependent cancer or are on active HRT, always disclose this to your cosmetologist before the treatment — an individual assessment is essential here.
I have post-pregnancy melasma that worsens in summer — will PQ Age make it worse?
PQ Age contains tyrosinase-inhibiting ingredients that suppress melanin production, so with consistent use of SPF 50+ (essential!) it can genuinely improve skin tone. Without sun protection, any peel has the opposite effect — freshly exposed skin darkens faster. In summer we recommend strict SPF discipline and planning a stronger series for autumn.
How much will I flake — do I need to take time off work?
With PQ Age alone, flaking is often mild and barely noticeable. Redness fades within a few hours, and makeup is usually fine from the next day. The microneedling variant requires more downtime — we set the exact timeframe when choosing your treatment at consultation. If you're planning a series, it's worth booking sessions for the end of the week.
Can I combine PQ Age with Profhilo or biostimulators?
Yes, this is one of the most popular combinations — the peel refreshes and brightens the surface layer, while the biostimulator adds deep hydration and collagen. Your cosmetologist decides the sequence and spacing between methods; we never combine them at the same appointment just for convenience.
I'm currently on a course of retinoids — do I need to stop?
Yes. Retinoids (both oral isotretinoin and retinol in your home skincare) should be stopped before the series and for several weeks afterwards — combining them with the peel's acids risks irritation. Tell your cosmetologist about any medications or products you're using at consultation.
