The key difference

Barbering focuses on precise transitions and head proportions — we apply the same rules regardless of gender. What differs is the balance of contour softness: for women, lines are usually softer and transitions more blurred, to complement facial features rather than dominate them.

Frequently asked questions

Are fade and undercut really something for a woman, or will I look like a boy?

A feminine fade or undercut isn't a copy of a men's haircut — it's the same techniques used with a different aesthetic intent. A soft transition, the right length on top and a line shaped to your features give a result that's bold and clearly feminine. Before we pick up the clippers, we talk about your face shape and how you want to look.

Can I come to a barber, or do I need to go to a women's hairdresser?

You can come to us. The barber at J'adore Instytut does short women's cuts — pixie, undercut and soft fade. If you're planning something longer or want colouring, we'll direct you to women's haircuts.

How short is short — can I keep some length on top?

Yes. An undercut can have a long top with short sides — that's one of the most common choices. A pixie can vary too, from very close-cropped to loose, with longer strands falling over the forehead. We settle on the final length during the consultation.

Will the cut still look good as it grows out?

A good barber plans the shape with regrowth in mind. Short barbered cuts usually age better than a random trim — they hold their shape longer between visits.
