Wax hair removal (Lycon) for men

Men's hair — different density, different technique

For men, larger areas dominate: back (the most common area), chest, arms and legs — treated with warm strip wax. Sensitive areas, such as underarms or the neck, are treated with hot wax. This is wax hair removal for men — fast, straightforward, no fuss. After 35, when grey hairs start to appear, electrolysis is often a better choice for stubborn individual hairs.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Unwanted hair on practically any part of the body — from the upper lip to full legs.
  • Anyone tired of shaving — looking for results that last weeks, not days.
  • Skin prone to ingrown hairs after shaving — wax combined with good home care reduces this issue.
  • Preparing for a holiday, an event or a photoshoot — smooth skin straight away.
  • Regular maintenance — with consistent visits, hair grows back increasingly sparser and finer.
  • Men — back, chest, neck, arms, underarms; an increasingly common choice among active clients.

The areas we work on

  1. back — the most common area for men, warm wax for a large surface;
  2. chest and arms — smooth skin for sport and comfort;
  3. neck — hot wax, precise finishing of the hairline;
  4. underarms — hot wax or sugaring for sensitive skin;
  5. the men's rhythm is somewhat less frequent: back/chest every 4–6 weeks, neck every 2–3 weeks.

Men's hair — different density, different technique

Men's hair on the chest, back and arms is anatomically thicker and set deeper in the skin than women's. The follicle is stronger, the hair coarser — which is why the first sessions can feel more intense than they do for women. This is a matter of biology, not sensitivity. With each following session, follicles gradually weaken, and hair grows back sparser and finer — after a few series, the difference is clear.
Choosing the right wax for the area matters especially with coarser hair. On larger areas like the back or chest, we use warm strip wax — it allows a large area to be treated precisely within a reasonable time. For sensitive areas with dense hair, we use hot wax, which sets directly onto the hair and pulls it out without stretching the skin.

Sport and training — how to plan your visit

If you train regularly, it's worth fitting your hair-removal schedule into your weekly routine. The first 24 hours after hair removal are when the skin's pores are open — sweat, heat and friction from clothing can cause irritation or small bumps. This isn't inflammation — it's a normal skin reaction after the treatment.
Practical rule: schedule hair removal the day after an intense workout, and your next workout a day after the treatment. If you train every day and can't take a break, tell your specialist beforehand. We'll choose an aftercare product to reduce the risk of irritation and discuss post-workout shower care.

Chest and back — the most common areas for men

Chest and back hair removal are two very different challenges in scale. The chest is a smaller area, but often has dense hair and a sensitive central zone. The back is a large area, usually treated with warm wax in several stages. Treating the full back takes anywhere from ten to several dozen minutes, depending on hair density.
Results after the first session are visible immediately. After 3–5 regular visits (every 4–6 weeks), hair is noticeably sparser, and skin stays smoother for longer between sessions. Some men choose to combine wax hair removal with a series of laser treatments — wax as a short-term solution, laser as the long-term goal. J'adore specialists can discuss this path during your consultation.

Appearance, confidence, personal choice — no labels

Men choose wax hair removal for various reasons: comfort in the heat, appearance at the beach, sport requirements (cycling, swimming, triathlon), a partner's preference, or simply their own decision. None of these reasons needs justifying. At J'adore Instytut, we treat every client the same way — professionally, discreetly, without commenting on motivation.
If you care more about appearance than complete removal, your specialist can treat the area selectively, thinning hair rather than removing it entirely. This gives a more natural look on the chest or abdomen if you'd prefer the result to be subtle.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to stop shaving before my visit — and for how long?
Yes — wax needs hair at least 0.5–1 cm long to grip onto. If the area has been shaved regularly, wait around 2 weeks without shaving. If the hair is natural and has never been shaved, you can come straight in. If you're unsure, take a photo of the area and send it to us before your visit.
When can I get back to the gym or training?
Ideally the next day. Sweat, friction from a T-shirt and heat open the pores and can cause irritation or bumps in the first few hours. If you need to train the same day, schedule your treatment after your workout, not before.
Will it be obvious that I've had something done?
There may be slight redness right after the treatment — it fades within a few hours. Smooth skin will be visible immediately and for several weeks. If you'd prefer a subtler result rather than complete removal, tell your specialist — we can treat the area selectively.
Can I combine hair removal with a massage or other treatments?
Yes — a relaxation or sports massage on the same day is possible, as long as hair removal doesn't cover the same area. On waxed skin, it's best to wait 24 hours before an oil massage. Facial treatments (cleansing, HydraFacial) are fine on the same day, as long as hair removal is done on a different area.
How many sessions are needed for a clear result?
Skin is smooth immediately after the first session. Lasting thinning of hair becomes clearly visible after 3–4 regular sessions (every 4–6 weeks). Follicles weaken gradually — each following session extends the time between regrowth.
