A treatment room at J'adoreHAIR REMOVAL
Shaving every two or three days, irritated skin, itchy regrowth, ingrown hairs — if you've had enough of that cycle, wax hair removal is a proven alternative that has stood the test of time. Wax removes the hair together with the root, so smoothness lasts for weeks, not days — and with regular sessions, hair grows back sparser, finer and slower. At J'adore Instytut we work with Lycon wax in two forms: hot wax (hard, strip-free) for sensitive areas, and warm wax (strip) for larger areas — the experienced cosmetologist chooses the method based on the area, skin type and your sensitivity.
We perform this treatment in three salons. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your visit.
repeat treatment — legs every 3–5 weeks, bikini/underarms every 3–4 weeks, upper lip every 2–4 weeks
How it works
Wax hair removal involves applying wax to the skin and then quickly pulling it off along with hairs pulled out from the root. This is the key difference from shaving, which only cuts hair at the skin's surface — here, the whole hair is removed with the root, so results last for weeks, not days.
We work with Lycon wax in two forms. Hot wax (hard, strip-free) is applied in a thicker layer — it sets, wraps around the hair, and is removed without a strip; ideal for sensitive areas. Warm wax (strip) is applied in a thin layer and pulled off with a fabric strip — this works well on larger areas. An experienced cosmetologist decides which to use on the day.

Did you know: hair that grows back after waxing is finer and softer, because it starts growing "from scratch" — from the root, rather than from a cut, hardened stub left by shaving. That's why there's no itchy regrowth, and skin tends to feel smoother for longer with each session.
Ideal for
Women's zone and men's zone
For women, the most common areas are legs, bikini, underarms and face (upper lip). This is classic wax hair removal for women — for larger areas (legs, arms) we use warm strip wax, and for sensitive areas (bikini, underarms, upper lip) hot strip-free wax, which is gentler on the skin.
The areas we support
For men, larger areas dominate: back (the most common area), chest, arms and legs — treated with warm strip wax. Sensitive areas, such as underarms or the neck, are treated with hot wax. This is wax hair removal for men — fast, straightforward, no fuss. After 35, when grey hairs start to appear, electrolysis is often a better choice for stubborn individual hairs.
The areas we support
Safety and hygiene
With wax hair removal, comfort and safety come down to technique and hygiene — worth asking about at any salon:
A quick, confident hand from an experienced cosmetologist shortens the moment of discomfort and lowers the risk of irritation or ingrown hairs. Technique genuinely matters here.
We heat wax in a warmer with a thermostat — controlled temperature means comfort and zero risk of burns. The cosmetologist always checks the wax before applying it.
We use single-use spatulas and wax from sealed packaging — the spatula never goes back into the container after touching skin. This is a basic standard that should never be skipped.
Red flag: a "quick" salon with no consultation · Be wary of places that carry out wax hair removal without asking about medication, skin conditions or recent sun exposure, and without matching the method to the area. Wax applied to fresh sunburn, retinoid-treated skin, or an active inflammation is a real risk of irritation and skin tearing. You have every right to ask whether spatulas are single-use — a good salon will answer without hesitation.
Contraindications
Some contraindications are permanent, others temporary — in that case, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation resolves. Always tell your cosmetologist about medication and skin conditions.
From the cosmetologist's chair
The most commonly forgotten factor is retinoids — creams containing retinol or tretinoin, and oral isotretinoin. Skin becomes so thin after using them that wax can tear it. If you're using these products, tell us before your treatment — we'll either wait or choose a different method.
This isn't a complete list — your medication, skin conditions and previous reactions will be discussed individually during your consultation.

The visit

Consultation & method selection
the cosmetologist assesses the area, skin type and sensitivity, rules out contraindications and chooses the wax (hot or warm). On a first visit to a new area, we may carry out a patch test.

Skin preparation
cleansing and applying powder or a pre-treatment product that protects the skin and improves wax grip on the hair.

Applying the wax
along the direction of hair growth; with hot wax, we wait a moment for it to set and wrap around the hair.

Removal
a quick, confident motion (usually against the direction of hair growth), followed immediately by pressing the skin with a hand, which eases the sensation.

Finishing
removing any wax residue and applying a soothing product; skin is smooth straight away, with no bandages and no recovery time.
What to expect
Skin is smooth immediately after the treatment. Slight redness in the area is a normal reaction — it usually fades within a few hours. There's no downtime and no visible marks.
The most common mistake I hear: "I shaved three days ago, but came in for a wax." Hair that's too short doesn't grip properly, and has to be pulled several times — this hurts and is less effective. Let hair grow back to about half a centimetre (around 2 weeks without shaving), and the treatment will be quick and far more comfortable.

The result is temporary — this is hair removal, not permanent reduction like laser or electrolysis. But with regular visits, follicles gradually weaken: hair grows back sparser, finer, and the gaps between sessions often get longer.
Wax hair removal and your lifestyle
Most questions are about what comes after: sun, pool, sauna, deodorant, training. The rule is simple — for the first 24–48 hours, freshly waxed skin is sensitive, and open follicles are easier to irritate.
Freshly waxed skin is prone to pigmentation. Skip sunbathing and sunbeds for a day or two, and afterwards apply SPF daily — especially after facial hair removal (SPF 50+).
High temperature and steam intensify redness and can irritate open follicles. Sauna, hammam, long hot baths — best left for 1–2 days.
Chlorinated water can sting and irritate freshly waxed skin. It's best to wait two days before using the pool.
After underarm hair removal, skip deodorant (especially alcohol-based) and fragranced cosmetics on the area for 1–2 days — otherwise stinging and irritation are common.
Sweat irritates freshly waxed skin and encourages irritation. Plan intense training from the following day, wearing loose, breathable cotton clothing.
Don't shave between visits — shaving cuts hair at the skin's surface and disrupts the rhythm of regular wax hair removal (a coarse regrowth instead of a fine one). Wait until your next session.
Wax hair removal (Lycon)
Hair-removal methods do different things and don't always replace one another. Here's the most honest breakdown of what suits whom:
smoothness for weeks, temporary result
doesn't remove hair permanently; requires hair length of around 0.5 cm; brief moment of discomfort
temporary, for sensitive skin
also a temporary result; can be less effective than wax on very thick, stubborn hair
permanent reduction vs. quick fix
laser is a different treatment (a series, doesn't work on grey hair); shaving causes itchy regrowth and ingrown hairs

Combine with
Wax hair removal fits well into a broader skincare routine and a strategy against ingrown hairs. The logic is simple:
Put simply: if you want smoothness for weeks and like to "tick off" the topic for longer → wax. If you have very sensitive, reactive skin → consider sugaring. If you dream of stopping hair removal altogether and have dark hair → that's a conversation about laser. We often combine approaches: wax now, with a laser series as the long-term goal.
Wax types and skincare
Under the term "wax hair removal" lie different textures and working methods. You don't choose the wax "off the shelf" — the cosmetologist chooses it based on the area, skin type and hair thickness. Below is the technology and skincare that genuinely improves results between sessions.
Applied in a thicker layer, it sets and wraps around the hair — removed without a strip. It doesn't touch the same skin twice, making it more hygienic and gentler.
Dla kogoSensitive areas: bikini, underarms, face, upper lip, neck (men).
Applied in a thin layer and pulled off with a fabric or paper strip. Quick on larger areas.
Dla kogoLarger areas: legs, arms, back and chest (men).
Gently exfoliates dead skin without mechanical friction, revealing follicle openings.
Dla kogoThe day before hair removal and regularly between sessions — prevents ingrown hairs.
Exfoliating, soothing ingredients help hair break through the skin's surface freely.
Dla kogoDaily care for areas prone to ingrown hairs (bikini, legs).
A balm free from alcohol and fragrance hydrates and soothes skin after the treatment; SPF protects against pigmentation.
Dla kogoAfter every session; SPF is essential after facial hair removal.
Fact: Why hot wax for sensitive areas? Because it wraps around the hair itself and grips hair more than skin — when removed, it "pulls" less on the skin's surface, meaning greater comfort on the bikini area, underarms and face. On the legs and back, where speed matters, quick strip wax wins out.
