Medical consultation / dermatology for men

A man's face — different anatomy, different approach

Men usually arrive with one specific concern and expect a result nobody will spot as "done". The goal: a rested, less tired look, with character intact — this is the medical consultation for men, where discretion and a natural result matter most.

When it's worth it — indications

  • First time — you're considering aesthetic medicine but don't know where to start or what to expect.
  • A specific concern — one thing bothers you (wrinkles, facial contour, dark circles, skin quality) and you want to know which method truly addresses it.
  • A longer-term plan — you want a considered sequence of treatments instead of reacting treatment by treatment.
  • A second opinion — you already have experience but want a calm assessment and an honest recommendation.
  • Before a specific event — a wedding, a photo shoot, an important date — and you need a realistic timeline for what can settle in time.
  • A safety check — you take medication, have chronic conditions or allergies, and want to know what's suitable for you and what's better postponed.

The areas we work on

  1. a tired, "harsh" expression: forehead, frown lines, dark circles;
  2. bruxism, excessive sweating — common topics for men;
  3. skin quality and contour without the "salon-fresh" look;
  4. minimal downtime — a plan built around work and meetings.

A man's face — different anatomy, different approach

A man's face differs structurally from a woman's: the skin is thicker (by around 20–25% on average), the facial musculature is stronger, and the dynamics of wrinkles are more closely tied to muscle tension than to volume loss. This isn't a marketing line — it's physiology, and it has a direct bearing on how treatments are planned and which parameters are chosen. That's why a medical consultation isn't optional before a treatment: it's the point from which the whole plan makes sense.

What the doctor assesses on a man's face

During the clinical assessment, the doctor considers features specific to male anatomy:
The goal is always a rested, relaxed face — with your expression and character intact, and no hint of looking "done".
  • Skin thickness — affects injection depth and product choice
  • Strength and distribution of the facial muscles — a stronger frontalis muscle or masseter muscles require individually adjusted botulinum toxin parameters
  • Wrinkle dynamics — in men, these are more often tension-related (expression) lines than lines caused by volume loss
  • Beard growth and its zone — relevant when planning injectable treatments in the lower half of the face
  • Body and facial hair and its effect on laser therapy — if laser or stimulating treatments are part of the plan, the doctor factors in areas with beard growth

Men and aesthetic medicine — a first visit without the myths

Most men who come to a first consultation have one specific question: "What can I do about this?" — pointing to frown lines, under-eye bags or a sagging contour. That's a healthy, pragmatic approach. The doctor responds with a diagnosis, not a sales pitch: assessing whether the proposed solution suits this particular anatomy, and whether a better, simpler or cheaper way to achieve the same result exists.
Aesthetic medicine isn't the domain of women — it belongs to anyone who wants to look the way they feel. Whatever the motivation, whether it's professional pressure, wanting to look well-rested, or simply the satisfaction of liking what you see in the mirror.

Shaving, training and your daily routine — what to tell the doctor

During the interview, it's worth mentioning a few things specific to men's daily routines:
  • Frequency and method of shaving — treatments around the jaw and chin may require a temporary change to your shaving routine
  • Intensity of strength training — intense physical exertion is postponed for a few days after injectable treatments; the doctor will factor this into your schedule
  • Supplements and medications — creatine, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin), hair growth preparations (finasteride) and other substances can affect the safety or the result of a treatment
  • Sun exposure — if you work or train outdoors, this matters when planning laser or chemical treatments

Frequently asked questions

Will anyone notice I've had something done?
That depends on what's done and how. A well-planned treatment for a man produces a result people describe as "you look rested" or "something's changed but I can't say what" — not "you've had Botox". The doctor designs the outcome around your features and preserves natural expression. If you want an undetectable result, that's achievable. If you want a more noticeable correction, that's possible too. This is exactly the conversation we have at the consultation.
Do I need to stop shaving before the treatment?
Not always, and not for long. For injectable treatments in the lower half of the face, the doctor may recommend a few days without shaving before the treatment visit — not before the consultation. For laser treatments around the beard area, the rules differ, and the doctor will discuss this individually. You can come to the consultation itself with or without a beard — it makes no difference to the clinical assessment.
I train intensively — when can I get back to the gym after a treatment?
That depends on the type of treatment. After the consultation, the doctor presents a plan that takes your activity schedule, including training, into account. For injectable treatments, the standard guidance is a 24–48 hour break from intense exertion. For energy-based treatments, the recovery window may differ. The plan is built around your lifestyle — not the other way round.
I have one specific concern (for example, frown lines) — do I need to discuss my whole face?
You don't have to, but it's worth it. The doctor will focus on your goal, but will also assess your whole face — because sometimes what looks like one problem is actually a symptom of a deeper change (a sagging contour, for example, can make nasolabial folds look more pronounced). A full assessment takes a few minutes longer but gives you the complete picture and lets you plan priorities. You can always say "just this for now" — the decision is yours.
Is aesthetic medicine more expensive for men than for women?
There's no separate price list for men. Costs depend on the type of treatment, the product used and the amount required — and that's determined individually by your anatomy, not your gender. Thicker skin and stronger musculature may call for different parameters than for a woman, but the doctor determines this based on the clinical assessment. You'll receive a transparent cost breakdown before making any decision.
