Programme for oily skin / combination skin for women

Oily skin and hormones — what your cycle has to do with it

For women, oiliness is very often linked to hormones — worsening before periods, in PCOS, sometimes "shifting" along the jawline and chin. Cosmetic acne from heavy makeup bases is also common. The goal of the oily skin treatment for women is to achieve a matte finish and tighter pores without over-drying, so makeup lasts longer and skin doesn't shine within an hour.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Oily skin — shine across the whole face, visible from early in the day.
  • Combination skin — an oily T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) alongside drier cheeks.
  • Enlarged, clogged pores — especially visible on the nose and cheeks.
  • Blackheads — open and closed comedones that keep returning despite cleansing.
  • Mild comedonal acne — occasional blemishes, skin that feels congested.
  • Oily but dehydrated skin — shiny, yet tight and flaky at the same time.
  • Oily skin after years of poor care — over-dried with "de-greasing" products, which only increases sebum production.
  • Prevention for teenagers and young adults — before oiliness develops into acne.

The areas we work on

  1. sebum regulation that factors in cycle and hormonal fluctuations;
  2. tighter pores on the T-zone and cheeks;
  3. reduced blackheads and congestion caused by colour cosmetics;
  4. guidance on home care that doesn't conflict with makeup (lightweight, mattifying formulas, non-comedogenic SPF).

Oily skin and hormones — what your cycle has to do with it

If your skin shines more in the second half of your cycle, gets worse before your period, or you have persistent blackheads along the jawline and chin regardless of cleansing — that's almost always a hormonal signal, not a lapse in care. Oestrogen and progesterone directly affect sebaceous gland activity, so fluctuations through the month translate into fluctuations in shine. PCOS adds to this, increasing oiliness and the tendency for pores to clog. In the oily skin treatment for women, the cosmetologist factors in this rhythm — adjusting the intensity of each stage to your skin's current state, not applying a fixed template.

Makeup and pores — why foundation isn't the enemy, but sometimes the culprit

Cosmetic acne — skin congestion from heavy bases, foundations and primers — is one of the most common reasons women come to the salon. Skin looks oily, pores are visible, and makeup "slides off" during the day. The problem isn't makeup itself, but a formula that isn't suited to oily skin. During the treatment, your cosmetologist will help you choose lightweight, non-comedogenic colour products — ones that don't interfere with acid exfoliation and don't undermine the results of the series.

T-zone, cheeks and shine — where's your problem

Combination skin is one of the most common reasons for booking this treatment. Intense shine on the forehead, nose and chin alongside drier or sensitive cheeks calls for a tailored approach — the cosmetologist works more intensively on the T-zone (stronger acids, HydraFacial with salicylic acid) and more gently on the cheeks (without over-drying). Result: a more even face overall, without rebound oiliness.
  • T-zone regulated with BHA acids and HydraFacial;
  • cheeks protected with a hydrating stage and barrier repair;
  • blackheads along the jawline (often hormonal) — chemical regulation plus manual extraction if needed.

Care and makeup during the series — what to change

The treatment's biggest effect appears when salon work and home care go hand in hand. For women, the most common mistake is combining the active stages of the series with heavy evening care (rich oils, thick creams) or strong at-home peels. During the treatment, your cosmetologist will help you build a simple, tailored routine — niacinamide as a base to reduce shine, a light hydrating gel instead of an oil-based cream, and non-comedogenic SPF during the day. This won't leave skin dry and tight — that's the very outcome most women fear, and with a good protocol, it doesn't happen.

Frequently asked questions

Will my skin become dry and tight after the treatment?
No — that's one of the most common fears, and also a myth. The goal isn't to strip oil completely, but to bring sebum production back to normal. Every session in the series includes a hydration and barrier-repair stage. Skin should end up matte and calm, not tight.
I have PCOS and constantly oily hair and face — will the treatment help?
The treatment regulates sebum at the skin level — it calms the sebaceous glands, clears pores and repairs the barrier. With PCOS, where excess androgens are the cause, results are real, but it's important to combine the series with good home care and, if needed, a consultation with a gynaecologist or dermatologist regarding hormonal treatment. The beauty treatment itself doesn't change hormone levels, but it significantly improves skin condition.
Can I use retinol during the series?
Retinol works well for oily skin — it regulates keratinisation and minimises pores. But combining it with in-salon BHA peels needs careful planning to avoid damaging the barrier. Your cosmetologist will advise whether to pause it during the series or just adjust how often you use it.
I have blackheads along my jawline and chin — is that normal oily skin?
Blackheads along the jawline and chin usually follow a hormonal pattern — different from classic all-over oily skin. In the treatment, this zone is addressed separately: manual extraction, BHA and chemical regulation. It's also worth checking your evening care — heavy creams and balms in this area can add to the problem.
I broke out a little after the treatment — was that a mistake at the salon?
No — that's classic purging, an accelerated surfacing of blackheads that were already forming under the skin. It usually appears in the first 1–2 weeks of the series and clears on its own. It's a sign that pores are being cleansed more deeply than before. If it lasts longer than 3 weeks or painful inflamed bumps appear, mention it to your cosmetologist at your next visit.
