HA fillers — wrinkles and folds for women

A woman's face ages from within — which is why cream alone stops being enough

The aim is usually harmony across the whole face and freshness: smoothing folds, restoring the "triangle of youth" in the cheeks, brightening the tear trough, gentle lip and contour shaping. These are natural proportions, not changed features — classic fillers for women.

When it's worth it — indications

Nasolabial folds and so-called marionette lines — running down from the corners of your mouth.
Tear troughs and dark circles — giving a tired look even after a good night's sleep.
Loss of cheek volume — and a blurred, "sagging" facial contour.
An indistinct jawline or a receded, poorly defined chin.
Facial asymmetry — requiring subtle correction.
Thin, dry lips — when you want hydration, contour or subtle volume.

The areas we work on

nasolabial folds, marionette lines, contour of the facial outline;
tear trough and dark circles — "de-tiring" the eyes;
subtle lip contouring and hydration (contour, Cupid's bow);
rebuilding cheek volume and the "triangle of youth".

A woman's face ages from within — which is why cream alone stops being enough

There's a point where it stops being about wrinkles. Your skin still looks good, your cream still works, yet something changes in photos: your eyes look more tired, the centre of your face has "dropped" slightly, and your cheek contour has lost its former lift. This isn't down to skincare or lack of sleep. It's loss of structure, which in women begins subtly from your thirties and accelerates around menopause, when oestrogen falls — taking collagen and natural hyaluronic acid with it.

A woman's face loses volume in a specific order, and this order explains why we start looking "older" before deep wrinkles even appear. First, the so-called triangle of youth recedes — the full, lifted cheekbones that in youth create a wide upper face and a narrow lower face. With age, this triangle inverts: the centre of the face flattens, and weight shifts downward, toward the jawline. The tear trough deepens, the corners of the mouth droop, the contour blurs. A filler doesn't "stop time" — it rebuilds the specific support that's been lost and restores the proportions your face once had.

Hormones, life stage and the right timing

What happens to a woman's skin is closely tied to hormonal balance — and this is what sets the female ageing pattern apart from the male one. For years, oestrogen kept the skin thick, firm and able to bind water; around menopause, its decline can "take" a significant portion of collagen within just a few years. This is why the face can seem to change suddenly, even though the process has been unfolding for years.

That's why for women, it's not just what to do but when. Earlier, subtle support of the structure — before the loss becomes deep — gives a gentler and longer-lasting result than rebuilding from "collapse". It's also worth knowing that thin, dry, sensitive skin (more common in women, especially around the eyes) needs a different, gentler gel and technique than the thicker skin of the cheek — and the doctor assesses this individually, mapping the whole face rather than a single fold.

The zones that change the most in women

Here is why it is precisely these areas that give a woman the most, and what is really visible in them:

The centre of the face (cheekbones and "apples"). This is the zone that rejuvenates the most, though we rarely think of it — it doesn't hurt, doesn't sting, isn't a "problem". Lifting the centre of the face gently raises the cheek and smooths the nasolabial fold from above, rather than filling it directly. The effect is subtle and reads as "well-rested", not as "treated".
The tear trough. For women, this is the most common source of "permanent tiredness" — a shadow under the eye that remains even after a good night's sleep. Thin, mobile skin on the lower eyelid and a dense network of blood vessels make this the area requiring the greatest precision and patience — while also giving one of the most striking "de-tired" effects for the eyes.
Lips — shape, not volume. For most women over forty, the problem isn't "lips too small" but the fading of the lip border, the blurring of the Cupid's bow and fine "barcode" lines above the upper lip. A well-executed filler restores the shape of the lips — and that's the difference between a "fresher" and a "done" face.
Jawline and chin. Often overlooked in women, yet it is this area that "holds together" the entire oval and reduces the appearance of sagging in the lower part of the face. In women, the aim here is a soft, fluid closure of the oval, not angularity.

Natural is precision, not caution over dose

The most common fear women bring in is: "I don't want it to show." That's a sound instinct — but it leads to the wrong conclusion that safety comes from using as little as possible. It doesn't. Too small a correction in the wrong place can look just as unnatural as too much — the face becomes "odd" because the proportions have been disturbed only halfway. Naturalness comes from precision: injecting exactly as much as needed, exactly where needed.

Your doctor looks at overall proportions and tailors the amount of product to your anatomy — sometimes a fraction of a millilitre in the tear trough, sometimes noticeably more in cheek support, because that's what lifts the rest of the face. There's one goal: for people around you to notice you looking better, not the treatment. This is why a well-planned result makes people ask if you changed your hairstyle or came back from holiday — not "what did you have done".

A woman's face is dynamic — and it "speaks" a great deal

A woman's face communicates a great deal: smiles, expressions around the eyes, movement of the lips. That's why in dynamic zones (lips, the area around the mouth, cheeks) what matters isn't just how much product, but how flexible the chosen gel is — one that moves with the face rather than stiffening it. This is a conversation worth having at consultation: the aim is for your smile to stay yours, and for your lips to look natural in motion too, not only in a still photo.

There's another, distinctly feminine dimension: light and photography. The tear trough and the centre of the face are the zones that "play" most with shadow — they decide whether you look rested or tired in a flash photo or restaurant lighting. Rebuilding support in these areas changes not so much your features as how your face reflects light — which is why the effect is often most visible in photographs.

A plan for years, not one session

For women, filler works best as part of a consistent strategy rather than a one-off intervention. Subtly maintaining structure lets the face age more slowly and gently — there's no moment of "sudden change", just gradual upkeep. Many women find that, over time, they need less frequent touch-ups: tissue seems to "remember" the restored structure, and regular, small support works a little like prevention — it's easier to maintain a face in good form than to rebuild it after years of neglect. This approach suits women who think about their appearance long-term and calmly, rather than as an emergency measure before a single event.

Frequently asked questions

I have a wedding / a shoot / an important event — how late can I book the treatment?

Plan it with a generous margin — ideally three to four weeks in advance. The reason is practical and specifically relevant to women: you want room not just for swelling to subside, but also for a possible small touch-up if something needs refining before you step in front of the camera. This matters especially for lips and the tear trough — these areas take the longest to "settle" while also being the most visible in photos.

I'm planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding — is an earlier filler a problem?

The treatment isn't performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding — that's a temporary contraindication. However, a filler given earlier isn't a problem: it won't harm a future pregnancy and doesn't need to be removed. If you know you're planning a baby, this is a good time to talk to your doctor about timing the treatment so the result comfortably lasts through that period — since you won't be able to have touch-ups during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

I feel my face has "dropped" after menopause / significant weight loss — is filler alone enough?

Sometimes yes, sometimes it's part of a bigger plan. With significant volume loss (after menopause, after significant weight loss), what matters most is rebuilding support in the cheeks and contour, since that's what lifts the rest of the face — filling the folds alone "from below" gives a worse result. The doctor will assess whether filler alone is enough, or whether it's worth combining with stronger volumetry or a skin-quality biostimulator. The plan is always individual.

I had my lips filled years ago somewhere else — can I "start fresh" with you?

Yes, this is a common situation. At consultation, the doctor will assess what's happening in the tissue — sometimes it's best to first dissolve an older, poorly placed product with hyaluronidase and rebuild the shape from scratch. This is one reason HA's reversibility is so valuable: it lets us correct previous work by someone else, not just layer another product on top of the old one.

I have thin, fair skin and bruise easily — does that rule me out?

No, but mention it at consultation — this is common in fair-skinned women and affects technique. If you're prone to bruising, the doctor is more likely to use a cannula instead of a needle (less vessel trauma), will ask you, in agreement, to stop any blood-thinning agents, and will schedule the appointment with extra time margin. Minor bruising, if it occurs, is temporary and can usually be covered with makeup after a day or two.
