Manicure for men starts with a simple observation: hands are one of the few body parts visible all day long — in meetings, during handshakes, working with clients, at the table. Uneven nails, dry cuticles with lifting skin — these details register peripherally, without effort, and they leave an impression.
Men's hand skin has its own anatomy. It's thicker than women's, cuticles tend to be harder and more calloused, nails grow faster and are generally tougher — which means home clippers and files give a different result than precise work by a specialist. Add frequent contact with tools, the gym, cleaning products, winter cold — and you get hands that need a regular reset.

Men's manicure — what it means in practice

There's nothing complicated about it. A classic manicure means shaping, cuticles, hydration — the effect of well-groomed hands with no coating at all. You leave the salon with evenly trimmed, clean nails and hydrated skin — and that's all that shows. If plate protection and durability without visible polish matter to you — hybrid in a matte or transparent finish is practically indistinguishable from a natural nail, while offering two to three weeks of protection.
The choice of technique for men usually comes down to one question: do you just want tidy nails, or longer-lasting plate protection? Your specialist will assess the condition of your nails and cuticles on the spot and give you specific, not general, advice.

Anatomy and durability — why it matters

Men's nails are thicker, which means they need more precise shaping — it's hard to achieve an even shape without micro-cracks at the edge using a home clipper. Cuticles subjected to intensive manual work or strength training tend to dry out and lift quickly — regular oiling and professional care break this cycle.
Hybrid manicure on men's hands lasts slightly less than on women's under intensive physical work — that's normal, given the greater strain. In office work the difference is minimal. Japanese manicure (P-Shine) is the most durable care option without coating: pearl paste and keratin powder are massaged into the plate rather than layered on top — the effect fades gradually, it doesn't "chip off".

You leave the salon with visible results straight away — tidy nails, clean cuticles, hydrated hands. No recovery time, no restrictions on activity. With hybrid: avoid intensive water contact and firm gripping for the first hour — after that, a normal day. With classic and Japanese — no restrictions at all.
The whole treatment fits into a gap between meetings — classic takes a few dozen minutes, hybrid a bit longer because of lamp curing.

Will it be obvious that I've "had something done" to my nails?
With classic and Japanese manicure — absolutely not. Nails simply look well-groomed: even, clean, showing no sign of neglect. With hybrid in a matte or transparent finish, the effect is practically invisible — the plate looks like a healthy, natural nail. No one will guess you had a manicure, but everyone will notice you look tidy.
I do strength training — is manicure still worthwhile with intensive hand use?
Yes, and it's precisely with intensive training that it's especially useful. Strength training dries out cuticles and can cause micro-cracks around the nails. Professional cuticle care and hydration regularly break this cycle. Classic or Japanese is the best option for intensive training — hybrid may last slightly less under very intensive manual work, but for strength training without tools the difference is minimal. Your specialist will give specific advice after assessing your hands.
How long does the whole treatment take?
Classic: 30 to 45 minutes — depending on the condition of your cuticles and nails. Japanese: similar. Hybrid: 45–60 minutes because of the lamp-curing stage. You can schedule the treatment between meetings — with no recovery break needed afterwards.
I work with tools / do manual work — will the manicure hold up?
Classic and Japanese — yes, without reservation. Hybrid under intensive manual work with tools may need more frequent replacement than the standard two to three weeks — your specialist will assess your situation and suggest the best technique. With exposure to chemicals and cleaning products, protective gloves extend the durability of any technique.
Can I combine manicure with pedicure or another treatment in the same visit?
Yes — manicure and pedicure in one appointment is the most popular combination at J'adore Instytut. You save time, and the result is complete. You can also combine it with facial cleansing or massage — when booking, tell reception what you're interested in and we'll arrange the timing so everything fits in smoothly.
