Manual lymphatic drainage for men

Post-workout recovery — why a gentle massage works faster than kneading

For men, lymphatic drainage for men is mainly about sports recovery and lighter legs from standing work. Running, gym sessions, long hours on your feet — manual drainage helps "reset" muscles, reduce that heavy feeling, and relieve circulation. It's recovery in its gentlest, most enjoyable form.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Heavy, swollen legs — by the end of the day, after standing or sitting work.
  • Swelling and water retention — a "trapped water" feeling in the legs, ankles and abdomen.
  • Post-travel swelling — puffy legs after a long flight, drive or period of immobility.
  • Water-related cellulite — as support: better drainage means less retention and better-oxygenated tissue.
  • Facial swelling — puffy eyelids, a "bloated" face after a poor night's sleep, a fresher contour.
  • Detox and a "reset" after the festive season — speeding up the elimination of built-up fluid.
  • Post-workout recovery — a lighter feeling in the legs and a faster return to form.
  • Body contour support — drainage "finishes off" the work of other body-shaping treatments.
  • Stress and fatigue — it's simply a very relaxing, calming massage.

The areas we work on

  1. post-workout recovery — a lighter feeling in the legs, faster return to form;
  2. heavy legs from standing work (drivers, chefs, sales reps);
  3. relief after long flights and a sedentary lifestyle;
  4. support alongside a body-contouring treatment series;
  5. zero downtime — a relaxed session, then straight back to your day.

Post-workout recovery — why a gentle massage works faster than kneading

After an intense run, a long day at the gym, or a competition, legs feel heavy not because the muscles are damaged — it's simply that lymph and tissue fluid build up in tissues faster than the body can clear them. Manual drainage using the Vodder technique solves exactly this problem: a very light, rhythmic massage directed towards the lymph nodes gets flow moving without overloading already-fatigued muscle fibres.
The result: legs feel lighter sooner, the feeling of "leaden" muscles eases earlier, and returning to your next workout is less uncomfortable. No needles, no downtime — you go straight back to your day.

Heavy legs from standing work — a problem that builds hour by hour

Drivers, chefs, field sales staff, warehouse workers — anyone who spends several hours a day on their feet without regular movement knows the feeling: by evening, ankles swell, calves ache, and relief only comes after several hours lying down. Lymph needs muscle activity to move — with prolonged standing and no walking, it simply slows down.
Manual drainage provides that missing muscle movement — precisely, and with no effort on your part. A series of regular sessions reduces your legs' tendency to swell and noticeably eases that evening heaviness.

Relief after travel and sedentary work

A long flight, several hours in a car, a full day at a conference — every prolonged period of immobility slows lymphatic circulation. Manual drainage after such travel is the fastest way to get flow moving again: a single session is enough to feel noticeably lighter legs and reduced swelling around the ankles. The treatment is also deeply calming — after a long journey, that's a welcome bonus.

Frequently asked questions

Is manual drainage a treatment for women?
No — it's a standard part of sports recovery and an increasingly popular part of the routine for men who are physically active or work on their feet. Manual lymphatic drainage is objectively one of the most effective ways to quickly relieve legs and reduce post-exertion swelling — regardless of gender. Among J'adore clients, men most often use it after sport and for problems with heavy legs after work.
When's the best time to book a session — before or after training?
After. Manual drainage works best as part of recovery — after training, it clears built-up fluid from overworked tissues and speeds up recovery. Before training, it may be too relaxing, and the lymph you get moving needs time to fully drain. Ideally, book a session 12–24 hours after intense exertion, or on a rest day.
Does it hurt or leave marks?
No. Manual drainage is one of the gentlest treatments we offer — the pressure is a stroke, not a knead, because lymph flows just beneath the skin and pressure that's too firm wouldn't help it. There's no redness, bruising or visible marks. Most men are surprised that such light work gives such noticeable relief in the legs.
How often should I have drainage if I train regularly?
It depends on training intensity and your individual tendency to retain fluid. If you run or train at the gym 3–5 times a week and have a noticeable problem with heavy legs, once a week for a few weeks is optimal, followed by a maintenance session every 2–3 weeks. Your therapist will tailor the frequency after a short conversation about your training plan and goals.
I have varicose veins on my calves — can I have drainage?
It depends on the nature and cause of the varicose veins. With mild changes, drainage can be supportive; with advanced varicose veins, or any suspicion of thrombosis, it's contraindicated. Before your first session, you must tell your therapist about this — after discussing it, we'll assess whether the treatment is safe or whether we need to refer you to a doctor first. We don't perform drainage on trust alone in such cases.
