Manual extraction for women

Your skin and your hormones — why manual cleansing works differently than you think

Manual cleansing for women is most often part of a regular routine for combination and oily skin: tackling blackheads in the T-zone, "resetting" pores burdened by makeup and city pollution, and preparing skin as a base for further treatments. It's also one of the few treatments that's safe during pregnancy — when acids, retinol and laser are off the table, cleansing stays available.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Blackheads and blocked pores — open ("blackheads") and closed, most often on the nose, chin and forehead (the T-zone).
  • Oily and combination skin — shiny, with enlarged pores; regular cleansing helps stabilise sebum production.
  • Enlarged pores — once cleansed and emptied, pores appear visibly smaller and less noticeable.
  • Comedonal (early-stage) acne — removing blackheads before they progress into inflammatory blemishes; this is prevention, not treatment for severe acne.
  • Grey, tired, "city" skin — exposed to smog and dust; cleansing restores its freshness and lets it "breathe" again.
  • Skin preparation before another treatment — as prep for a peel, mesotherapy or device-based treatment — active ingredients penetrate more effectively into clean skin.
  • Anyone for whom "home remedies aren't working" — pores that stay blocked despite daily cleansing and face masks are a typical sign that professional extraction is needed.

The areas we work on

  1. blackheads on the nose and chin, "blocked" pores in the T-zone;
  2. skin burdened by makeup — cleansing as a regular reset;
  3. skin preparation before an important event (booked a few days ahead);
  4. safe skincare during pregnancy — no acids or retinol, with a gentle protocol.

Your skin and your hormones — why manual cleansing works differently than you think

A woman's skin is not static — it changes with the hormonal cycle. In the premenstrual phase, oestrogen falls, progesterone rises, and the sebaceous glands work harder. That is precisely when pores become blocked more quickly, and blackheads appear where for three weeks there were none. Daily rituals cannot keep up with this rhythm — a cleansing gel and micellar wipes cleanse the surface, but they do not reach deep into the pore.
Manual extraction performed by a specialist reaches exactly that depth. Pores opened by steam and softened by enzymes are emptied precisely, without excessive force and without damaging blood vessels. Afterwards, a mask chosen for your cycle phase — soothing or regulating — closes them back up. This isn't a one-off reset. It's a rhythm regulation that daily skincare simply can't replace.

Ready for makeup — skin that works with you, not against you

The foundation on which every makeup look rests is the texture of the skin. Clogged pores appear larger, skin dried out by powder gathers into fine lines, foundation sits unevenly and fades sooner. Manual cleansing evens out this base — not with concealer, but for real. Clean, tightened pores after the treatment mean less base under makeup, and the makeup itself lasts several hours longer.
Do you have a specific date in mind — an important photo shoot, an evening out, a friend's wedding? A treatment performed 5–7 days before the event allows time for the slight redness after extraction to subside and for the skin to enter the phase in which it looks its best. Not the day after, not the same day — a week earlier is the optimal moment.

Retinol, acids and active skincare — what to do about them

If you use retinol, AHA/BHA acids, vitamin C at a higher concentration or prescription preparations — you have a skincare routine that really works. And that is precisely why manual cleansing requires a short break from active ingredients: 3–5 days before the treatment and a few days after. This is not giving up on skincare — it is precise synchronisation. Skin calmed before extraction tolerates it more gently, and after the treatment, when the barriers are temporarily weakened, active acids could cause irritation instead of an effect.
During the consultation, the specialist will ask about your current skincare routine and propose an individual plan — when to stop, what can stay, when to resume. You don't have to guess.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding — one of the few treatments that stays available

Most aesthetic treatments are ruled out along with the list of pregnancy contraindications. Manual cleansing remains — and that is good news for skin that often becomes oilier, more sensitive and more prone to clogged pores during pregnancy. During pregnancy the treatment differs from the standard one: the specialist avoids acid-based preparations, selects enzymes with a gentler profile, and limits the intensity of steaming. The pore-cleansing effect — full. The safety profile — preserved.
Tell the specialist about pregnancy or breastfeeding at the start of the consultation. This changes the choice of preparations, but does not mean giving up the treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply makeup straight after the treatment?
Immediately after manual cleansing, skin is temporarily more reactive — pores are open, and blood vessels are gently stimulated after extraction. The first 4–6 hours without foundation or powder give skin the time it needs to close pores and complete its natural inflammatory response. In the evening, you can apply light, gentle products. Full makeup is fine the next day, once skin looks noticeably better.
Is manual cleansing safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Yes — it is one of the few in-clinic treatments that have no absolute pregnancy contraindications. The treatment is modified: no strong acids, no retinol, with gentler enzymes and controlled intensity of steaming. Inform us about pregnancy or breastfeeding before the treatment — this will allow us to select a preparation suitable for your skin at that moment.
Can I have manual cleansing if I use retinol or acids?
You can and it is worth it — but with precise synchronisation. Stopping active ingredients 3–5 days before the treatment reduces skin reactivity and allows for comfortable extraction. After the treatment, take a few days' break before returning to retinol and stronger acids — cleansed skin absorbs active ingredients more intensively, which, if you return too early, can cause irritation instead of results.
When should I schedule the treatment before an important event?
Ideally 5–7 days ahead — this gives mild post-extraction redness time to fade, and lets your skin reach the phase where it looks its best: clean, even and matte. Too close to the date risks visible redness the day before. Too far ahead, and the effect partially fades, especially with oily skin.
Should I get manual cleansing if I only use simple everyday products?
Absolutely yes — and it is precisely with a simple daily skincare routine that an in-clinic cleansing gives the most. When there are no layers of active ingredients that first need to be coordinated with the treatment, its course is straightforward and complete. The skin receives a thorough cleansing that no at-home product can replace — regardless of price.
