When it's worth it — indications

Hair after lightening and blonde colouring — the most common reason; lightening puts the greatest strain on the structure.
Frequent colouring — with regular dyeing, Olaplex protects hair and keeps it in better condition.
Brittle hair that feels "rubbery" when wet — a classic sign of a weakened structure.
Heavy heat styling — straighteners, curling irons, daily blow-drying.
Dry, dull ends — when hair looks lacklustre and tired.
Before a major colour change — as protection already during lightening/colouring.
After a holiday — sun, salt and chlorine can leave hair in poor condition.

Why women turn to Olaplex — and why they come back

The most common scenario: balayage, full colouring, lightening to blonde — and at some point the hair stops being what it was. It turns rubbery when wet, breaks at the ends, and loses colour faster than it should. This isn't the result of one visit — it's the sum of broken bonds built up over months.

At this point, Olaplex does exactly what a mask can't: it enters the hair's structure and rebuilds these bridges from within. That's why colour looks cleaner and fresher after Olaplex — healthier hair simply holds it better and reflects light better.

Blonde, lightening and protection — a combination that makes sense

Lightening is the most demanding colour treatment for hair. Every lightening session breaks more bonds than colouring does — and this is exactly Olaplex's role: not as a conditioner after the treatment, but as an ingredient added to the bleach itself, protecting the structure as it happens.

The result? Colour comes out cleaner, and hair doesn't pay such a high price for the change. With repeated lightening for intense blonde or balayage, this protection stops being optional — it becomes the basis of sensible colouring.

A series instead of a one-off treatment — when hair condition is seriously weakened

For badly damaged hair, one session with Olaplex gives a noticeable improvement — but full repair is a process. Bonds build layer by layer, and each subsequent salon visit, supported by home care, makes a lasting step forward.

The most effective scheme for hair after intensive treatments: a salon series + a home edition of Olaplex between visits + gentle products for coloured hair. Home care doesn't replace the salon, but it genuinely extends the effect of each visit.

Ends — what Olaplex can and can't do

One of the most common myths: that Olaplex will glue split, frayed ends back together. It won't — because ends that have worn through mechanically no longer have anything left to rebuild. They need trimming.

Olaplex repairs what's still there — the length where bonds can be restored. That's why we often combine it with a haircut: repair first, then trim what can't be saved. The style then looks healthy along its full length, not just at the roots.

Frequently asked questions

Will Olaplex change my colour after lightening?

No — Olaplex is a regenerative treatment, not a colouring one. It doesn't add colour or affect shade. It can make colour look better, because healthier, smoother hair holds it better, reflects light better and keeps its intensity for longer.

My hair has been lightened many times — will Olaplex be enough to save it?

It depends on the degree of damage. For very porous, brittle hair, the result will be real, but it builds up over a series, not one visit. During consultation, the stylist assesses the condition and proposes a plan — including whether the ends are worth trimming so the whole look works.

Can I have Olaplex every time I colour my hair?

Yes — it's one of the most sensible combinations. Olaplex mixed into colour or bleach protects hair during the treatment. You don't need to wait for visible damage — it's a form of prevention that keeps hair in good condition with regular colouring.

Does Olaplex help with hair after a holiday — sun, chlorine, salt?

Yes — sun, pools and sea water can set hair condition back by months in just a few weeks. Olaplex after a holiday is one of the most common scenarios we see. It rebuilds bonds weakened by these factors and restores elasticity.

Can I colour or straighten my hair straight after Olaplex?

Colouring, definitely — Olaplex often goes hand in hand with colouring, even within the same visit. Heat styling is possible, but with heat protection — a straightener without it breaks the same bonds we've just rebuilt. Your stylist will tell you what makes sense, and in what order.
