Hair mineral analysis for men

Why men are less likely to seek diagnostics — and what they lose by it

Hair mineral analysis in men more often draws attention to zinc — an element heavily "drawn upon" during intense training, stress and an irregular diet. Zinc supports the hair follicle and the condition of the scalp, and its deficiency is often underestimated.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Increased hair loss — when there's noticeably more hair on your brush, in the drain and on your pillow than before.
  • Thinner, weaker, "lifeless" hair — loss of density and bounce despite good care.
  • Slow or stalled growth — hair "won't grow", regrowth is sparse.
  • Elimination diets — vegetarianism, veganism, restrictive weight loss, which easily lead to deficiencies.
  • A period of major change — after pregnancy and during breastfeeding, after illness, under heavy stress or exhaustion.
  • Supplementing "blind" — when you're taking several "hair" preparations and want to know if you actually need them.
  • Wanting to understand the cause — before investing in a series of treatments, it's worth knowing what you're actually dealing with.

The areas we work on

  1. zinc — demand rises with intensive sport, stress and alcohol;
  2. early thinning and a receding hairline — worth ruling out nutritional causes;
  3. men are less likely to test "just in case" — they often come in once the change is already visible;
  4. the test helps separate what's nutritional and reversible from what's due to genetic predisposition.

Why men are less likely to seek diagnostics — and what they lose by it

Men usually turn to hair diagnostics at the point when the change is already clearly visible: the hairline is receding, the crown is becoming thinner. Yet part of this loss has a nutritional background — and can be reversible. Elemental hair analysis makes it possible to separate what is rooted in deficiencies (and can often be improved) from what stems from a genetic predisposition (and requires a different plan).

Zinc, training, stress — a triangle that affects many men

Zinc is an element that gets particularly "used up" in men leading an active lifestyle. Intensive physical training, prolonged work stress, an irregular diet and alcohol all genuinely increase its consumption. Zinc supports the hair follicle and scalp condition — its deficiency is often underestimated, because it doesn't cause sharp symptoms, only a gradual decline in hair quality.
Hair mineral analysis reads this picture from a strand taken close to the root — it "remembers" your body's recent weeks, not just its state on the day the sample was taken.
Situations where the test gives men a concrete answer:
  • early thinning, and you want to know how much is genetics and how much is deficiency;
  • you train intensively and take various supplements; you want to check whether they're actually working;
  • your diet is irregular, alcohol is a factor — you suspect "something's off" nutritionally;
  • your scalp gets oily, with seborrhoea appearing — zinc matters here;
  • you want hard data before deciding on a series of scalp treatments.

This isn't "a women's thing"

Hair mineral analysis is a test for anyone who wants to know what is happening in their body — not only for women. Men benefit from it just as concretely: they receive a mineral map, a list of dietary and supplementation recommendations, and an answer as to whether, alongside genetic factors, nutritional factors that can be influenced are also at play.

Frequently asked questions

If I have genetic hair loss, does the test still make sense?
Elemental analysis will not reverse your genes. But with early thinning, alongside the genetic factor there are very often nutritional deficiencies at play too, which genuinely accelerate hair loss. The test allows you to check whether this is the case for you — and if it is, it offers a chance to improve what can be improved.
I train intensively and take supplements — is it still worth it?
All the more reason to. Intensive training increases the use of zinc and other elements, and supplements taken without knowing your current levels can easily create an excess of one element, which blocks the absorption of another. The analysis will show whether your supplementation is on target, too low, too high, or simply not addressing the real problem.
How long does the whole test take — from sample to result?
Sample collection is a short visit to the salon — non-invasive, no needles. The sample then goes to the laboratory. Once we receive the result, you'll book a follow-up discussion, where the trichologist explains the report and puts together concrete recommendations.
Can I combine the analysis with scalp mesotherapy?
Yes — and it's a logical combination. The analysis gives you the picture "from within" (what's going on nutritionally, what's missing), while mesotherapy works "from the outside" (stimulating the scalp and follicle). Your trichologist will assess whether the treatment is indicated in your case — and only then does it make sense.
I have seborrhoea and my hair is falling out — where should I start?
Mineral analysis is a good first step — zinc is linked to scalp condition and its tendency to become oily. However, the full picture only comes from combining the analysis with a trichology consultation and trichoscopy, which assesses the scalp directly.
