Hyperhidrosis treatment for men

The dryness you expect — and which no one should have to think about

In men, the sweating fields (especially underarms) are often larger, so larger doses of the toxin are usually needed. There is often a distinct professional dimension — this is classic hyperhidrosis treatment for men. The mechanism and effectiveness are identical to those for women; only the size of the dose mainly differs.

Czas: a dozen or so minutes (after the test)
Efekt: usually 6–9 months (longer than Botox for wrinkles)
Regeneracja: none
Seria: a single treatment, repeated periodically
Wykonuje: aesthetic medicine doctor

When it's worth it — indications

Wet patches on clothes — they appear regardless of temperature and stress, and antiperspirants (even strong, pharmacy-grade ones with aluminium chloride) have stopped being enough.
Sweaty hands — they hinder work, studying, using documents or shaking hands.
Hyperhidrosis of the feet — discomfort, odour and sliding in footwear.
Situational sweating — before a performance, meeting, exam or important event.
Professional and social comfort — when sweating takes away your confidence at work and in social contacts.

The areas we work on

underarms — a dry shirt under a suit, no stains at a meeting;
hands — a firm, dry handshake when greeting;
work under pressure — comfort during presentations and negotiations;
feet — no more discomfort in footwear after a full day.

The dryness you expect — and which no one should have to think about

There are professions and situations where sweating is not a private inconvenience, but something others read. A handshake at the start of a meeting — the first, non-verbal signal. A shirt under a jacket during an hour-long presentation. A conversation, a negotiation, a hearing, a speech where you must look composed, even if the stakes are high. Hyperhidrosis takes away exactly what a man values most in these moments: the impression of complete control.

You will find the treatment mechanism, the visit procedure, safety issues and preparation (shaving, antiperspirant before the test) in the main description. Here, I will focus on what is specifically masculine: the anatomy of the problem, its professional burden, an active lifestyle and the fact that one visit can do more for you than just "less sweat".

Anatomy that requires precision

It is pure physiology: in men, the sweating fields, especially the underarms, are often more extensive, and the density of sweat glands is higher. In practice, this means the doctor covers a larger area and administers exactly as much product as that surface area requires for the effect to be full and even across the entire field. This is not a "stronger" treatment or a compromise — it is a matter of precisely matching the quantity and the distribution of injection points to your specific anatomy.

The effectiveness and the mechanism itself are the same regardless of gender — the geometry of the field that needs to be covered is what differs. This is why the consultation and assessment of the zone (often with an iodine-starch test, which highlights the most active points) are mandatory: without mapping the surface, it is impossible to plan the administration responsibly.

Professional dimension — the most common reason why men come

The same scenario repeats in the clinic: a man tolerates the problem for years because "that is how he is" and "nothing can be done about it", until it finally starts to bother him professionally. This is the moment when it is worth acting. What treatment most often changes:

Then there is the dimension men talk about least: sweaty hands and work tools. For people who operate keyboards, documents, touchscreens, steering wheels, precision tools or equipment daily, damp hands are not just a social discomfort, but a real technical obstacle: slipping papers, wet marks on equipment, a firmer grip only after wiping your hands. Suppressing hand sweating can change the comfort of your entire working day, not just your greetings.

a dry shirt under a suit throughout the entire meeting — without dark stains that distract and undermine self-confidence;
a firm, dry handshake when greeting — without the reflexive wiping of your hand on your trousers just before;
comfort under pressure — presentations, negotiations, conversations where you want the focus to be on what you are saying, not on how you look;
freedom in choosing your wardrobe — you can wear lighter shirts and tailored cuts without calculating where a stain might appear.

Active lifestyle, training and feet

The second typical male context is sport and exertion. Running, the gym, team sports and martial arts, a long day in the field or behind the wheel of a motorbike in full gear — all this adds to hyperhidrosis. In the case of feet, there is the real problem with footwear: the foot slipping in a sports shoe, moisture lingering for hours in heavy, enclosed footwear, and odour after taking your shoes off. Treating the feet significantly improves this comfort — this zone, like the hands, is more sensitive, so it is performed under local anaesthesia.

The only real limitation concerns the day after the treatment: postpone intense exertion, the sauna and hot baths for about 24 hours, as the significantly increased circulation in the freshly treated zone promotes minor bruising. Afterwards, you return to full training — this time without the excessive sweating that previously limited you: no wet T-shirt stuck to your back after a warm-up, no slipping of the bar in your hands, no damp feet in your shoes after the first hour.

Not just "less sweat" — full range, if you want it

It is worth dispelling one assumption: treating hyperhidrosis in men does not have to be purely a "technical" solution to discomfort. Some patients come just for the comfort of dry armpits, but many during a single visit decide on something more — from subtly removing signs of fatigue from the face to more pronounced rejuvenation of the features. It is the same botulinum toxin technology, so sweating and, if you wish, facial expressions can be covered in the treatment at one appointment, without a separate visit and a separate period of "no plans". The scope is entirely your decision — from the minimum to a real, visible change; the doctor will help you choose a plan and the total dose. It is an individual goal, not a label — more and more men simply want to look as fresh as they feel.

Frequently asked questions

I have really large, heavily sweating underarms — will this treatment even work for me?

Yes. A larger surface simply means the doctor covers a wider field and selects the amount of product exactly for that surface — the effectiveness is the same. The assessment of the field is done during the consultation (often with a Minor's test), and the administration is targeted: as many injection points as needed to suppress the entire zone evenly.

My hands sweat mainly and it bothers me at work — can this be suppressed?

Yes, hands are one of the main treated zones. Due to higher sensitivity, it is performed under local anaesthesia for your comfort. For people working with their hands — with equipment, documents, a steering wheel — this is often the most noticeable change: a firm grip and dry contact throughout the day.

I train regularly or play sports — how quickly will I return to exertion?

You return to full training after about 24 hours. For that one day, skip intense exertion, the sauna and hot baths, as increased circulation promotes bruising in the freshly treated zone. Afterwards, sport without limits — and without the excessive sweating that previously bothered you.

Can I do something about my face at the same time — wrinkles, signs of fatigue?

Yes, and very many men do so. It is the same technology, so hyperhidrosis treatment can be combined in one visit with Botox for facial expressions — from subtle refreshment to more distinct rejuvenation, entirely according to your decision. The doctor will plan the sequence and the total dose.

Will it be visible that I have had a treatment — at work the next day?

Practically not. After the administration, there are at most minor marks from the injections and slight redness within the zone, which pass quickly — and in the case of underarms, they are covered anyway. There are no bandages or recovery; you return to work the same or the next day without visible signs.
