Needle scalp mesotherapy for men

Androgenetic hair loss: the treatment window is narrower than you think

In men, androgenetic hair loss is most often the issue — receding temples, thinning at the crown and a receding hairline. Honesty is essential here: needle mesotherapy of the scalp in men supports and slows the process, improves the condition of still-active follicles and is often combined with other approaches, but it will not “regrow” hair where the follicle has already completely disappeared. The earlier you start, the better the result.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Thinning and loss of density — when hair becomes finer and the parting or crown begins to show through.
  • Excessive hair loss — telogen effluvium (after childbirth, infection, stress or a restrictive diet), and as support for androgenetic hair loss.
  • Weakened, “tired” hair — brittle, lacking volume and slow-growing.
  • Prevention — when thinning runs in your family and you want to respond early, before changes become clear.
  • Support after other trichology treatments — as part of a broader course led by a trichologist.

The areas we work on

  1. early receding temples and thinning at the crown;
  2. weakened and thinning hair (a stage when the follicles are still active);
  3. support after consultation, often as part of a broader plan;
  4. no downtime — a short visit, then you can return to your activities.

Androgenetic hair loss: the treatment window is narrower than you think

DHT — dihydrotestosterone — gradually but relentlessly miniaturises the hair follicle. Hair becomes finer and shorter, and its growth cycle shortens until the follicle disappears completely. When the skin in a bald area is smooth and shiny, mesotherapy will not restore hair — the follicle is already dead. This is exactly why the timing of treatment has a direct impact on the result.
Mesotherapy works most effectively at Norwood stages I–IV: a receding hairline at the temples, temple recession and thinning at the crown. If you recognise these patterns, now is the right time.

Local action, no systemic effect

The most common concern among men considering treatment for androgenetic hair loss relates to the side effects of oral finasteride: libido, erections and mood. Mesotherapy works differently — the cocktail is injected directly into the dermis of the scalp, where it acts locally on the DHT receptor in the dermal papilla. It is not absorbed into the bloodstream in clinically significant amounts. It does not affect hormonal balance or sexual function.
Injections every two weeks instead of a daily tablet — with no compromises.

The cocktail composition for men — tailored to the stage of hair loss

The mesotherapy protocol for men with androgenetic alopecia is more intensive than for stress-related hair loss — because the issue is different. The cocktail contains:
The amount of product and injection pattern are tailored to your thinning map — areas of active hairline recession and the crown.
  • 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (biomimetic peptides) — block the local conversion of testosterone into DHT, slowing follicle miniaturisation
  • Growth factors and amino acids — reactivate follicles in the miniaturisation phase, stimulating their return to the anagen phase
  • Biotin, hyaluronic acid and zinc — nourish the hair growth environment; hyaluronic acid improves scalp elasticity, while zinc regulates sebaceous gland activity
  • Ginkgo biloba extract — improves microcirculation in the dermal papilla; a better-nourished follicle miniaturises more slowly

Training, sport and an active lifestyle — what you need to know

Mesotherapy does not require a break from training — with one exception: avoid intense sweating for the first 6 hours after your session (gym, cardio). Sweat and elevated body temperature reduce the effectiveness of the cocktail as it penetrates the dermis during this time. Afterwards, return to your usual routine without restrictions.
If you use protein powders or hormonal supplements (DHEA, testosterone as a dietary supplement) — mention this during consultation. Some ingredients may modify your response to treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Will it be visible after the treatment that I have had something done to my hair?
Scalp redness subsides within 2–4 hours. Directly after the session, it may feel as though you have just had an intensive hair wash. You can return to work, a meeting or the gym on the same day. No one will know you have seen a trichologist.
I shave my head completely — will mesotherapy still work?
Yes. Hair length does not affect treatment effectiveness — injections are delivered into the scalp, not the hair shaft. Shaving with clippers or a razor is not a contraindication. The only limitation is that the scalp must not be irritated immediately after shaving — it is best to wait 24 hours.
I take supplements for hair loss (biotin, zinc, saw palmetto) — should I stop?
You do not need to. Oral supplementation and mesotherapy work at different levels and complement each other. Tell your trichologist what you use — they will tailor the cocktail composition to avoid duplicating ingredients at excessive doses and to make the protocol as effective as possible.
Can mesotherapy be combined with minoxidil or finasteride?
Yes — this is a common combination. Mesotherapy works locally, minoxidil dilates blood vessels in the scalp, and finasteride blocks DHT systemically. Combining them may give better results than each method alone. If you take finasteride, mention it during consultation — we will adjust the cocktail composition (less emphasis on local DHT inhibitors, more growth factors).
My father and grandfather are balding — does preventive mesotherapy make sense for me at all?
It does — very much so. Family history is one of the strongest predictors of androgenetic alopecia. If you are starting to notice the first signs (receding temples, thinner hair at the crown), early intervention gives much better results than reacting later. Preventive mesotherapy slows follicle miniaturisation before the damage becomes irreversible.
