Scalp oxybrasion for men

Men's scalp — different challenges, same principle

In men, the scalp tends to be more seborrhoeic, more exposed to sweat and hats, and short hair doesn't hide dandruff — which makes scalp oxybrasion for men a popular hygiene treatment. The goal is the same: cleanse, refresh, oxygenate and prepare the skin for further care.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Scalp seborrhoea — hair that gets oily quickly, feeling "weighed down" just a day after washing.
  • Dandruff — dry or oily; cleansing removes flakes and improves skin comfort (for severe dandruff, we combine this with targeted home care).
  • Itching and tightness of the scalp, when regular washing isn't enough.
  • Styling product build-up — residue from hairspray, dry shampoo, pastes and gels.
  • Preparation before treatment — clean skin before mesotherapy, ampoules or a strengthening series means better absorption.
  • A "reset" detox — seasonal scalp cleansing for those without a specific problem, but who value deeper care than washing alone provides.

The areas we work on

  1. intense seborrhoea and oily roots;
  2. dandruff visible on short hair and clothing;
  3. skin worn down by sweat, hats, helmets;
  4. cleansing before a strengthening treatment or mesotherapy.

Men's scalp — different challenges, same principle

Men's scalps tend to be more seborrhoeic on average than women's — the sebaceous glands work harder, and sweat and heat (hats, helmets, hoods) speed up sebum build-up further. Short or shaved hair doesn't hide dandruff: flakes are immediately visible on clothing and on the scalp, which for many men is a real aesthetic and hygiene concern.
Scalp oxybrasion cleanses this layer mechanically, but gently: a stream of saline and oxygen solution washes away excess sebum, dandruff flakes and any build-up, while refreshing and oxygenating the skin. A short visit, no downtime, a clear result straight away — this is one of the most practical forms of scalp hygiene, difficult to achieve with washing alone.

Why regular washing isn't enough

Washing your hair every day or every other day mostly cleans the hair itself. The scalp collects a layer of sebum, dead skin cells and build-up that a standard shampoo doesn't remove effectively — especially with intense seborrhoea. Over time this layer clogs follicle openings, irritates the skin, and makes hair "weigh down" faster. In men with short hair or an oily scalp, the effect is clearly visible — and clearly felt: itching, tightness, dandruff.
Oxybrasion cleanses this layer more deeply and more gently than washing at home. No abrasion, no needles — the controlled stream does all the work.

The most common reason men book this treatment

  • Intense seborrhoea: oily roots just a few hours after washing.
  • Dandruff visible on short hair, collars and clothing.
  • Itching and tightness of the scalp — especially after training, or under a hat or helmet.
  • Hygiene before a strengthening treatment: oxybrasion as step 1 before scalp mesotherapy, so active ingredients penetrate clean skin instead of a layer of sebum.
  • A seasonal reset — deeper cleansing every few months for comfort and skin condition.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a treatment for men? Does it even make sense for me?
Scalp oxybrasion is hygiene — exactly like a facial cleanse or a peel. Men with seborrhoea, dandruff and sweat build-up choose it for a very specific reason: it gives a clear result you can feel straight away, with zero downtime. After your visit, you get straight back to your day — no marks, no recovery time.
How long does it take, and does it hurt?
It's a short visit. The treatment itself is a cool, refreshing stream on the scalp — most men describe it as a pleasant, massage-like sensation. No needles, no anaesthesia, no pain.
Does it help with dandruff that won't go away despite anti-dandruff shampoos?
Shampoos work on the surface of the hair and skin. Oxybrasion cleanses more deeply: it removes flakes that build up around follicle openings and refreshes the skin's environment. For chronic dandruff, it's best to work in a series alongside suitable home care — shampoo alone often can't keep up if flakes aren't regularly removed.
Can it be combined with scalp mesotherapy?
Yes — this is one of the most common plans in our salon. Oxybrasion as step 1, mesotherapy as step 2: clean skin absorbs active ingredients far better than skin with a layer of sebum and build-up. Your trichologist decides on the order and intervals during your consultation.
Do I need to do anything after the treatment?
There are no restrictions. Training, work, going out — everything straight away. It's just worth avoiding heavy styling pastes and dry shampoo for the first 24 hours, so as not to weigh down freshly cleansed skin. Your specialist will also recommend a shampoo for your next washes — one that won't overstimulate the sebaceous glands instead of calming them.
