Podology for women

Feet you can show — not hide

Podology for women is very often the result of footwear: narrow toes and heels promote ingrown nails, corns and calluses in the front part of the foot, and the sandal season exposes cracked heels. This is in addition to preventive care and — increasingly — conscious care for foot health, not just their appearance.

Czas: shorter or longer visit (depending on the issue)
Efekt: effect depends on the problem and regrowth cycle; for ingrown nails and calluses, a series of visits is often required
Regeneracja: usually none — you walk normally immediately after the visit
Seria: from a single visit to a corrective cycle (e.g., a brace grows with the nail over several weeks)
Wykonuje: podiatrist (podology specialist)

Feet you can show — not hide

You cover cracked heels with socks all year round. Sandals are out of reach not because you don't like summer, but because the skin looks as if you haven't cared for it — even though you do. The corn on your toe hurts more and more, and the nail has changed colour for no apparent reason. A visit to an aesthetic salon is not enough — these problems require a specialist, not nail polish.

The podiatrist at J'adore Instytut works with the most common problems of women's feet: cracked heels with deep fissures, corns in places where the shoe presses the most, ingrown nails after trimming too deep or wearing narrow tips, onycholysis after hybrid polish applied too often without a break, and fungal infections hidden under another layer of polish. Each of these ailments has its mechanism — and its solution.

Specifics of women's feet — why anatomy and lifestyle matter

Women's feet are built differently than men's: narrower in the midfoot, wider in the forefoot, with a greater tendency for bunions and for pushing nails into the lateral folds when wearing narrow-toed shoes. Heels — even occasional ones — change the pressure point, which promotes the formation of calluses exactly where the skin is already exposed. Hormonal fluctuations during the cycle and pregnancy affect skin hydration and tissue elasticity.

Foil on hybrid polish, gel, varnish — kept for months without a breather — can lead to onycholysis: the nail detaches from the nail bed, changes colour, and becomes susceptible to fungal infections. The podiatrist will assess whether this is a mechanical reaction, a fungal one, or a curable reconstruction. We do not guess — we diagnose.

Nail after hybrid, heels before summer — when to come to the podiatrist

The most common scenario: the sandal season is just around the corner, and the heels look like no pedicure will save them in one visit. Or the thumbnail is digging into the skin on the outside and you feel pain just putting on a shoe. Or something is growing under the gel that is better to check before it grows larger.

The podiatrist at J'adore will assess the condition of the skin and nails and select a method for the specific problem — not for a general template:

Deep cracked heel — treatment with a podological burr, removal of calloused epidermis, urea cream selected for the intensity of hyperkeratosis
Ingrown nail — tamponade in case of acute pain or a correction brace changing the direction of growth without surgery
Onycholysis or fungal infection — cleaning, thinning of the plate, antifungal preparations selected according to the stage of advancement
Nail reconstruction — rebuilding with podological gel mass when the plate is damaged or missing; natural effect, protection of the nail bed

What is important if you have diabetes or vascular diseases

Diabetic foot requires a different approach — greater caution, sterile tools and the awareness that healing proceeds differently. The podiatrist at J'adore knows this context. If you have diabetes, inform us before the visit — we will adjust every step. This does not exclude treatment, quite the contrary: regular podological care for patients with diabetes is prevention of more serious complications.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a pedicure with polish immediately after a podological treatment?

Yes — and this is exactly how many clients plan their visits: first the podiatrist treats the problem, then the pedicurist does the aesthetics. At J'adore Instytut, you can book both treatments in one appointment. Exception: if the nail is undergoing reconstruction or active fungal treatment, the podiatrist will say directly whether polish is advisable at that moment.

I have had cracked heels for years — will podology really help?

Yes, but it requires two elements: the treatment and daily home care. The podologist removes the calloused epidermis and recommends a urea cream with a concentration tailored to your problem. Without regular moisturising, the heels will return to their previous state. With daily application and a visit every 4–6 weeks, the result lasts a long time.

I wore hybrid polish for almost a year without a break — my nails look bad. What will the podologist do?

First, we will assess exactly what we are dealing with. Discolouration, onycholysis and fungal infections look similar but require different treatments. The podologist will choose a method based on the diagnosis, not the appearance. With mechanical onycholysis, nail regrowth with proper care is often enough. Fungal infections require topical preparations, and advanced cases require a consultation with a dermatologist.

Does podology hurt more than a regular pedicure?

When treating heels or calluses, it does not hurt at all; it brings relief. With an ingrown nail, the podologist works precisely and carefully. The discomfort of the treatment is incomparably smaller than the pain of an ingrown nail over the following days. After applying a tamponade or a brace, many clients say the relief is immediate.

Can I visit a podologist while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Mechanical treatments — heel care, callus removal, tamponade — are safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. We choose preparations applied to the skin more carefully. Inform the podologist about your pregnancy or breastfeeding so they can exclude ingredients that are better avoided during this time. In the case of a fungal infection requiring systemic (oral) treatment, the decision rests with a dermatologist or gynaecologist.
