A treatment room at J'adoreBROWS & LASHES
Brows frame the face — a few millimetres in either direction can change the whole expression. Brow shaping at J'adore isn't a "quick tidy-up" — it's arch architecture: your stylist maps the brow to your features (facial proportions, the golden ratio), marks the starting point, the highest point of the arch and the end point, and only then removes what blurs that line. The result is a symmetrical, clean arch and an "open", well-rested look — while keeping the brow's natural, full character.
You choose the method to suit your skin and expectations: precise tweezing, quick and clean waxing, or gentle threading with no chemicals involved. The service is performed by a brow & lash stylist. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your first visit.
single visit, repeated in line with regrowth
BROWS & LASHES
Shaping happens in two stages, not one. First comes mapping — your stylist marks three points on each brow: where it should start, where the highest point of the arch should fall, and where it should end. This isn't done "by eye" — it's based on your features: the line of your nose, the angle of your eye, and your facial proportions (the facial triangle rule and the golden ratio).
Only after that comes removing the unnecessary hairs — the ones that blur the arch that's been mapped out. It's not about having "fewer hairs" — it's about giving the brow a clean, symmetrical contour and expression. That's the difference between salon shaping and plucking in front of a mirror: we design the shape first, then reveal it.
Did you know: brows are rarely perfectly symmetrical — that's completely natural. There's a saying that "brows are sisters, not twins." A good stylist doesn't fight nature — they bring the two brows closer together so the face looks harmonious, while keeping your natural character.
How it works
Shaping works on the level of the whole hair, not just the visible part. Tweezing, waxing and threading technically do the same thing: they grip the hair at the skin's surface and pull it out together with the root from the follicle — unlike shaving or trimming, which only cut the shaft and leave a hard, visible tip in the skin. That's why the skin under the arch is smooth and clean straight after shaping, with a clear brow contour from day one. The follicle itself stays intact and keeps working — it simply has to build a new hair from scratch.
This explains why the result is measured in weeks, not days — and why regrowth is uneven. Each brow hair sits at a different stage of its own cycle: some are growing, some are resting, some are just shedding, so none of them move at the same time after the treatment. That's why you notice "some are visible already, others aren't yet" after two to three weeks, with full regrowth only after several. There's a second layer to this work, and it's purely geometric: a few hairs fewer in the right place shifts the entire axis of the brow, and with it, the expression the face reads. An arch raised higher, with a defined peak, visually opens the eye. A more horizontal line calms the features. That's why the points of the arch are marked against the line of the nose, the angle of the eye and the width of the face — before the tweezers even touch the skin.

Did you know: brows aren't purely decorative — evolutionarily, they channel sweat and rain sideways, away from the eye. That's why they grow the way they do: near the bridge of the nose, hairs grow almost vertically, and closer to the temple, they lie increasingly horizontal. A good stylist reads this pattern and works with it — which is why "the same" shape on two different faces requires two different plans.
Ideal for
Women's and men's grooming
Brow shaping for women is usually about revealing a defined, elegant arch and "opening up" the eyes — without losing natural fullness. We work on symmetry, a clean contour and a shape that suits your features and visually lifts the eye. It pairs perfectly with colour (henna / dye) and lamination in the same visit.
The areas we support
Brow shaping for men is about tidying, not transformation. The goal: a brow that looks groomed but untouched — we remove only what blurs the natural shape (stray hairs between the brows, "wild" growth above the arch, overly long hairs). No thin, "drawn-on" arch — a man's brow stays full and natural.
The areas we support
Patch test
Shaping alone (tweezing, waxing, threading) without tinting doesn't require a patch test — no dye touches the skin. This changes if, in the same visit, you'd like to add colour: powder henna or classic dye. In that case, a patch test is standard practice.
If someone offers henna or dye with no patch test at all "because it's just brows" — that's a warning sign. An allergic reaction to dye near the eye can be unpleasant. A good salon will offer a test and wait the required time. You're entitled to ask for one.
Contraindications
Shaping is a light, "beauty" service, but some situations are a reason to postpone it or change the method — for your comfort and your skin's safety.
The most common problem is years of plucking at home — the brow becomes thin, short, shaped like a "tadpole", and some follicles stop regrowing altogether. If, at your first visit, you hear "let's rebuild the shape first, and remove hair sparingly for now" — that's a good sign, not a setback. It's easier to trim a brow later than to wait for it to grow back.
This isn't a complete list — we'll go through your skin, the products you use, and any previous treatments in this area at the start of your visit.
What to expect
After wax shaping, skip makeup around the brows for a few hours, and skip the sauna, pool and intense exercise for about a day — skin is freshly sensitive right after hair removal. After tweezing and threading, you can usually go straight back to your day.

Shaping and your lifestyle
Most questions aren't about the treatment itself, but about what comes after — especially with waxing, since it's hair removal and the skin is briefly more sensitive. With tweezing and threading, there are slightly fewer restrictions.
After waxing, give your skin a few hours before applying makeup around the brows — this avoids irritation and breakouts. After tweezing and threading, you can apply makeup right away.
After wax hair removal, skip the sauna, hammam and pool for about a day — heat, steam and chlorine can irritate freshly exposed skin.
Intense training and sweat right after waxing can encourage redness. There's no such restriction after tweezing or threading.
Right after waxing, avoid intense sun exposure and sunbeds for a few days; if you're heading out into the sun, apply SPF cream to the brow area.
If you use acids or retinol, don't wax skin that's been recently "worked on" — we choose threading or tweezing instead. Tell your stylist about this at the start of the visit.
Brushing with a spoolie, growth serum, styling soap — you can go back to these from the next day. Serum helps rebuild brows thinned by years of plucking.
Brow shaping and architecture
All three methods do the same thing (remove unwanted hairs), but differently — and each suits a different skin type and result. Your stylist chooses the method at the start of the visit; we often combine them within a single brow:
maximum precision
slower than waxing for heavy regrowth
fast and clean
not for skin recently "worked on" — we skip it after acids/retinol
gentle, no chemicals
a slight "sting" the first time; takes longer as a technique
Combine with
Shaping is the foundation of brow styling — it gives you the shape everything else builds on. We most often combine it with colour and styling in one visit, and for a longer-lasting version, we consider permanent makeup:
The question I hear most is: "which one's best?" There's no single best method — there's the best one for your skin and your day. Using acids or retinol? We go with threading. Want a perfectly clean contour on dense brows? Waxing. Fine-tuning detail and symmetry? Tweezing. I usually combine a few techniques within one visit.
What we work with
"Shaping" covers several techniques and tools. You don't choose them off a shelf — your stylist selects them to suit your skin, brow shape and the result you like:
Steel tweezers with a slanted or pointed tip — removing single hairs with full control.
Dla kogoFine-tuning shape, symmetry, a clean finish along the arch and tip.
Warm wax or paste applied to a section of hair and removed in one motion — fast and clean.
Dla kogoDense regrowth, a perfectly smooth contour; not for skin recently treated with acids/retinol.
Twisted cotton thread catches and pulls out hairs in rows — with no chemicals at all.
Dla kogoSensitive, vascular or allergy-prone skin, or skin recently treated with acids or retinol.
A brow ruler, measuring thread and washable pencil to mark the three points of the arch.
Dla kogoBrow architecture — designing the shape before removing any hair.
A brush for combing the hairs and mini scissors for trimming the longest ones.
Dla kogoFinishing and styling — especially for men's shaping.
Fact: Where do the differences in time and sensation come from? Waxing covers a whole section at once, so it's the fastest; tweezing and threading are more "point by point" and precise. Threading can be felt the first time, but it's the gentlest option for sensitive skin, since there's no contact with any product. What matters in the end isn't the number of hairs removed, but the shape — and that's down to the stylist's hand.

Note. Brow shaping and architecture is a cosmetic styling service (brow styling); the result is temporary and depends on your natural hair growth cycle and home care. When combined with tinting (henna / dye), we carry out a patch test before the treatment. The text above is for informational purposes. Details and the choice of method (tweezing / waxing / threading) are decided by your stylist during the visit.
