Men’s skin is on average 20–25% thicker than women’s skin. It also has a higher collagen content at the outset. However, it ages faster in certain zones and reacts differently to skin injury, including after acne. This means fractional microneedling RF for men often works at greater depths. The most common concern among men is: will it be obvious that I have had something done? The answer is simple. For the first 1–2 days, your skin may be red and slightly tight, as if after a long outdoor workout. Most men return to work and everyday activities the next day. After a few weeks, the result is better skin. People see that you look well, not that you have been to a cosmetology salon.
Anaesthetic cream makes the treatment well tolerated, even by men with a low pain threshold. The discomfort is comparable to a mild burning sensation. It is well below the level that would discourage you from continuing the series.

Frequently asked questions

Does fractional microneedling RF genuinely reduce acne scars — or is it just marketing?
Acne scars are one of the best-documented indications for fractional microneedling RF. The mechanism is specific: microneedles with radiofrequency reach deep into the scar and stimulate collagen remodelling. This makes depressions shallower and evens the texture. The result does not appear after one treatment. It requires a series and weeks of skin regeneration, but it is real and noticeable. The degree of improvement depends on the type and depth of the scars, assessed during consultation.
How long will I be out of my usual routine — gym, work, meetings?
Redness and slight skin tightness usually resolve within 24–48 hours. Skip intensive training for 1–2 days after the treatment, as sweat and heat can worsen redness. You can then return to your normal routine. You can return to professional meetings the next day. Corrective make-up is not necessary, and for most men the redness is within the range of “perhaps I have been in the sun”.
Does thicker, oily skin simply respond less well to the treatment?
Quite the opposite — thicker skin generally tolerates deeper needle work and stronger radiofrequency well. This gives more precise access to deep scars and unevenness. Oily skin often responds to a series with visibly reduced pores and smoother texture. The cosmetologist selects the settings individually — there is no single setting for everyone.
I have a post-operative scar on my abdomen — can fractional microneedling RF reduce it?
Post-traumatic and post-operative scars are indications for treatment. Fractional microneedling RF softens and flattens altered tissue, improving its elasticity and appearance. One condition applies: the scar must be fully healed, usually at least 6–12 months after surgery. The cosmetologist assesses whether and how a specific scar can be treated during consultation.
