Male skin is thicker, and the typical causes of broken capillaries are compounded by daily shaving and frequent UV exposure without SPF. Capillaries on the nose and cheeks appear in many men after the age of 30, and with rosacea the redness can be permanent. This is capillary removal for men — the goal: even skin tone without a "red" face and without changing your character.

When it's worth it — indications

Facial telangiectasia — widened, visible small vessels on the cheeks, around the nose, and on the chin.
Redness and rosacea — persistent facial redness that no skincare or make-up can hide.
Thread veins on the legs — webs of widened vessels on the thighs and calves, especially bothersome in summer.
Cherry angiomas ("ruby spots") — small, red vascular dots or bumps on the body.
Widened vessels on the décolletage — common after the age of 35, on sensitive skin.
Persistent redness after acne — inflammatory vascular marks that don't fade on their own.
Vascular discolouration from sun or irritation — for example after years of UV exposure without protection.

Men's skin — thicker, but more exposed

Men's skin is on average 25% thicker than women's, contains more sebaceous glands, and is mechanically stressed daily — shaving, razor friction, contact with foam and aftershave. This isn't protection — it's a risk factor: micro-injuries and inflammation from shaving, years of UV exposure without protection, and sudden temperature changes (sauna, cold weather, a hot shower after training) all contribute to widening of facial blood vessels.

In men, broken capillaries most often appear on the nose, cheeks and chin. Facial hair can mask the problem for years — and when a man shaves his beard or trims his stubble, the capillaries turn out to be extensive. We match the laser parameters to the thickness and structure of the skin — the dose and energy to the anatomy and the goal, not to gender.

Shaving and thread veins — the mechanics of the problem

Daily shaving is one of the main mechanical irritants for facial vessels. The razor passes just a few millimetres from the surface of the capillaries — for skin prone to vascular issues, every shave can make the problem worse. The chin and jawline are particularly prone to telangiectasia for this very reason.

After laser treatment, shaving in the treated area is postponed for 48–72 hours — this is enough for the skin to return to balance. After that, you can shave normally — shaving does not reverse the effect of the treatment.

Rosacea in men — redness that looks like something else

Rosacea in men is often mistaken for oily or reactive skin, or colloquially for the look of a "beer drinker's face". Persistent redness on the cheeks and nose, worsening after alcohol, exertion, hot food or a change in temperature — this is the classic picture of rosacea. In men the condition may run with sebaceous gland hypertrophy (rhinophyma — thickening of the nose), which means that the earlier you begin vascular treatment, the better you control its course.

The laser reduces redness and closes visible vessels — the effect is clear and long-lasting. It does not eliminate rosacea as a condition, but it helps keep the skin in a state that does not require daily concealing.

Discreet, with zero downtime

Visible veins are one of those aesthetic concerns that men most often put off, because they don't realise they can be effectively reduced without surgery and without a week-long recovery. The treatment takes 30–45 minutes, mild redness subsides within a few hours, and you can return to work or training the next day.

If purpura appears after Dye-VL — it lasts 5–10 days and looks like faint bruising. You can cover it with concealer if this matters to you, or simply wait — it resolves on its own and is a sign that the vessel has been effectively closed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I go straight to the gym after the treatment?

Intense exercise isn't recommended for the first 48 hours — a rise in body temperature and blood pressure can heighten the post-treatment reaction and prolong redness. After that, you can train without restrictions. Sauna and a hot shower after training — wait at least 48 hours after the laser session.

I shave every day — when can I go back to shaving after the treatment?

You can shave normally 48–72 hours after the treatment. During this time your skin is more sensitive — mechanical irritation from the razor can heighten the post-treatment reaction. If you need to shave sooner, avoid the treated areas and use the gentlest technique possible.

Will anyone notice I've had a treatment?

Mild redness fades within a few hours and usually looks like normal reactivity from shaving. Purpura after DYE-VL is more visible — it lasts up to 10 days and has a bluish tint. You can cover it with concealer, or plan the treatment for a time when you have a few quiet days ahead. Most men book their sessions for the end of the week.

I have a beard or short stubble — does the laser work through hair?

The laser must reach the skin directly — the treatment area should be shaved or have very short stubble. If you wear a beard and do not plan to shave it, the capillaries in this area can only be treated in places accessible to the handpiece. During the consultation, the specialist will assess which lesions can be covered by the treatment with your current facial hair.

Is the treatment effective on darker skin tones?

Yes, but selecting the right parameters is key. For darker skin tones, the specialist changes the handpiece and adjusts the energy settings — Nd:YAG 1064 nm is safer for phototypes IV–VI than DYE-VL. At consultation, we assess your phototype and choose the method individually to avoid the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
