Permanent makeup removal (laser) for women

When your brows stopped being yours

The vast majority of enquiries come from women with brow, lip and eyeliner PMU. The goal varies: complete removal or lightening before new, more current makeup. This is usually where the most emotion comes in — because the pigment has changed colour and the face "stopped feeling like itself". This is classic PMU removal for women.

Efekt
lasting effect — removed pigment doesn't return
Regeneracja
usually 1–3 days of redness, minor scabbing

series of several sessions spaced several weeks apart

When it's worth it — indications

  • Brows that have changed colour — pigment can drift into grey, pink, reddish or green tones over time and stop looking natural.
  • Poorly done or asymmetric PMU — an eyeliner that's too thick, brows set too low, shape asymmetry.
  • A shape that no longer suits you — trends in brow or eyeliner shape have changed, but the makeup stayed "old style".
  • Pigment migration — pigment has spread beyond the intended outline (common with lips and eyeliner).
  • Preparation for new PMU — lightening old pigment so the artist has a clean base for a new design.
  • Wanting to stop altogether — returning to natural brows, lips or eyes without permanent makeup.

The areas we work on

  1. brows that have turned grey, reddish or pink;
  2. eyeliner / permanent eyeliner that's too thick or asymmetric;
  3. lip PMU — changed colour, spread outline (the most demanding zone);
  4. lightening before new PMU, in coordination with the artist.

When your brows stopped being yours

Permanent makeup was meant to work for you — and for the first few years it probably did. But pigment isn't permanent in its original form. Brows can turn grey, pink or greenish over time — colours that don't suit your skin at all. Or trends in arch or shape have changed, leaving you with a design from five years ago. Or the artist had an off day, and the result never matched what was discussed at consultation.
Laser PMU removal is, above all, about regaining control — over your own face, over how you look each morning without any effort. The Q-Switch Nd:YAG laser breaks down pigment sitting in the skin into microscopic fragments, which your body clears session by session. You're not removing makeup — your body is clearing it from within.

Brows, lips, eyeliner — three different stories

Most women come to us with one of three zones, and each follows its own logic:
  • Brows — the most common case, and usually the most rewarding. Dark pigments respond well; the effect builds session by session. Some women want complete removal and a return to natural brows, others prefer to lighten the old pigment so an artist can create a clean, new design.
  • Lips — the most demanding zone. Lip pigments are often blends containing iron oxides, which can temporarily darken with the first laser pulse — a known reaction, not an accident. That's why we always start with a laser test patch on a small area before treating the lips fully. The result is beautiful, but it takes patience and trust in the process.
  • Eyeliner / permanent eyeliner — a zone close to the eye that requires particular care and proper protection. An eyeliner that's too thick, one that has spread beyond its outline over time, or an effect that's simply too strong for a sober morning — there's a way out here too.

Lighten or remove completely — how to decide

This question comes up at almost every consultation. The answer depends on one thing: do you want to keep permanent makeup at all?
The most important thing: the decision isn't fixed once the process starts. We assess together at consultation what makes sense.
  • Yes, but nicer → we lighten the old pigment with laser so the artist has a clean base. There's no need to erase it completely — just enough for the new design to be precise.
  • No, I want to go back to natural → we remove it completely with laser. The realistic result depends on the colour, depth and age of the pigment — we'll tell you honestly what to expect.

Your skin during the series — what to watch for

A full PMU removal series takes several weeks or months. Your skin works between sessions — clearing pigment and regenerating. A few things matter for the final result:
  • SPF 50+ on the area between sessions and throughout the season after the series — a tan on the treated area increases the risk of hyperpigmentation. This isn't a suggestion, it's a fixed part of the protocol.
  • Let scabs fall off naturally — picking them raises the risk of hyperpigmentation. Healing usually takes a few days to around two weeks; gentle washing only, no peels.
  • If you get recurring cold sores, tell us before your first lip session — laser treatment in this area can trigger the virus, even when nothing is currently visible. We'll plan protection accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

Will brows look natural after PMU removal, or will there be some mark left?
With correct technique and a full series, scarring risk is low. A faint shadow is sometimes possible with very stubborn pigments — we assess this individually after the first sessions and tell you honestly what to expect. Most women return to natural, full-looking brows with no trace of PMU.
I have PMU lips and the colour has darkened a bit over the years — can laser fix this?
Yes, but with lips there's an important rule: we start with a laser test patch. Lip pigments often contain iron oxides, which can temporarily darken further with the first pulse — this is transient, but it calls for care and the right protocol. At consultation, we explain this mechanism and plan a safe series.
I'm planning new brow PMU with an artist — do I need to remove everything, or is lightening enough?
In most cases, lightening is enough — the pigment needs to be light enough for the artist to draw a precise new design without the old colour showing through. How many lightening sessions you need depends on the current pigment and the new artist's plan; we plan this together with both parties.
How long do I need to skip makeup on the area after each session?
We avoid applying makeup to the treated area until the scabs have fallen off — usually a few days to around two weeks. The rest of your face has no restrictions right away. Daily life (work, meetings) returns essentially the next day; only sun, swimming pools and saunas wait a few days.
Does tanning between sessions cause problems?
Yes — a fresh tan on the treated area increases the risk of hyperpigmentation and complicates the result. Between sessions, SPF 50+ on the area is required, and sunbeds are off-limits. Before summer or after a holiday, it's worth planning your series well in advance or after you return — this affects the final result.
