Tattoo removal (Q-Switch Nd:YAG 1064/532) for women

The tattoo you're wearing — and the one you're ready to let go of

For women, we most often remove smaller designs in visible areas and correct permanent makeup. What matters here is a gentle approach and the final skin quality in the exposed area. This is classic tattoo removal for women.

When it's worth it — indications

  • An unwanted tattoo — your style, career or simply your preferences have changed.
  • Lightening for a cover-up — when you want a new design and the old one needs fading first, so your tattoo artist has a cleaner base.
  • A blurred or discoloured tattoo — outlines have spread, colour has shifted to blue-grey or brown.
  • An amateur tattoo — often easier to remove than professional work.
  • A professional (machine) tattoo — all colours can be treated, though dark ones fade fastest.
  • Permanent makeup (PMU) — brows, eyeliner, lips — treated with particular care (see below).
  • Professional or personal reasons — when a visible tattoo gets in the way at work or in your personal life.

The areas we work on

  2. nape of the neck, neck, back, shoulders;
  3. permanent makeup — brows, eyeliner, lip contour (treated with care);
  4. lightening for cover-up — for a new, more delicate design.

The tattoo you're wearing — and the one you're ready to let go of

Women remove tattoos for various reasons: a change of style, a career move, or a tattoo from years ago that simply no longer fits who you are. Sometimes it's permanent makeup — brows drawn a few years back using a technique that's since gone out of style, or an eyeliner that's shifted to a blue-grey or brown tone over time. All these cases share one thing: the Q-Switch Nd:YAG laser can undo a decision you now regret.
What often sets women's skin and goals apart isn't the tattoo itself, but its location and context. Ankle, wrist, fingers, nape of the neck — highly visible and sensitive areas. Skin here is thinner, meaning pigment sits more shallowly and often responds faster — but it also calls for carefully calibrated treatment parameters to get a clean result, with no trace of the intervention.

Permanent makeup — a separate chapter

Removing permanent makeup with a laser calls for experience and caution — which is exactly why it's worth entrusting to a specialist at J'adore Instytut. Pigments used for brows, eyeliner or lips differ in composition from classic tattoo ink. Under a laser pulse, they can shift shade — a brown brow pigment may briefly darken or turn grey before your body fully eliminates it. This isn't a mistake — it's a predictable reaction we discuss at your consultation, before we even begin the series.
A permanent makeup removal plan is usually shorter than for a classic tattoo — 2–5 sessions are typically enough to return to clear skin or create a neutral base for a new, up-to-date brow design.

Lightening for a cover-up — a strategy, not a compromise

If your goal isn't full removal but preparing your skin for a new design, that's also a scenario we know well. A cover-up needs the old tattoo faded enough that it won't show through the new design. Usually, 2–4 lightening sessions are enough — giving your tattoo artist a far cleaner base to work with.

Skin between sessions — care that won't undermine your results

One question comes up often in conversations with women: what about daily skincare? If you use retinol, AHA/BHA acids or vitamin C, pause them during active healing after each session (usually 7–14 days). Your skin is regenerating and more sensitive than usual during this time. A gentle moisturiser and SPF 50+ are your baseline care between sessions — simple rules that genuinely speed up pigment clearance.
Sunbeds, strong sun exposure and tanning the treated area are the biggest mistakes — they delay results and increase the risk of pigmentation changes. If your tattoo is somewhere hard to cover in summer, plan your series for autumn or winter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove my brow permanent makeup and have new brows done right away?
Not right away — your skin needs time to fully heal and clear the pigment after each session. Once your laser series is complete (usually 2–5 sessions) and the recovery period has passed, you can safely book a new brow treatment. During your consultation, we'll set out a clear timeline — from removal to your new design.
Can I have this treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
No — laser tattoo removal is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Pigment fragments cleared by the lymphatic system can enter the bloodstream, and we don't take that risk. If you're planning a pregnancy in the near future, tell us at your consultation so we can build a realistic timeline together.
Can I use retinol or acids between sessions?
Not in the days immediately after treatment. Your skin is sensitive and needs gentle care for 7–14 days. After that, once healing is complete, you can return to your usual routine. Between sessions — yes, though SPF 50+ on the treated area is essential if you're using anything active.
Is a tattoo on the ankle or wrist harder to remove?
Not harder — often even easier, as pigment in these areas tends to sit more shallowly. But the skin here is thinner and more sensitive, so we tailor the treatment parameters specifically to that location. The result is just as clean — it simply requires precision to get there.
Can I combine tattoo removal with other skincare treatments?
Yes — but not at the same time or on the same area. Once your laser series is complete, needle mesotherapy or a medical peel can support skin recovery and improve tone. During active removal, we focus solely on the laser, so as not to overload your skin. We'll work out the right timeline together at your consultation.
