Fractional mesotherapy / Dermapen for men

Men's skin regenerates differently — Dermapen makes use of that

Men's skin is thicker, richer in collagen and less reactive — it often heals faster and allows for a slightly deeper needle setting. The goal: real remodelling of deeper acne scars and pore tightening, without a "cosmetic" look after the treatment. This is Dermapen for men.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Acne scars — flat and indented (rolling, superficial boxcar); a deeper needle setting remodels the scar structure.
  • Enlarged pores — especially in the T-zone and for oily skin; collagen stimulation around the pore tightens it "from the inside".
  • Fine lines and loss of firmness — new collagen thickens and tightens the skin.
  • Hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone — combined with a brightening serum (e.g. vitamin C).
  • Grey, fatigued skin — refreshing, radiance, better hydration.
  • Preventive anti-ageing — from around age 28–35, when collagen production naturally slows down.
  • Stretch marks and post-injury scars — best when fresher, red or purple; a series improves texture.
  • Darker skin phototypes — a safe alternative to lasers, because Dermapen works mechanically, without heat (lower risk of hyperpigmentation).

The areas we work on

  1. deeper acne scars (thicker skin reacts more strongly to inflammation);
  2. enlarged pores and excess oil in the T-zone;
  3. post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — including from ingrown hairs after shaving;
  4. preventive anti-ageing and skin density after 35–40.

Men's skin regenerates differently — Dermapen makes use of that

Male epidermis is around a dozen or so per cent thicker than female skin, rich in collagen, and heavily supplied with blood vessels. This is a natural regenerative advantage — but also the reason why acne scars in men tend to be deeper, and pores in the T-zone are harder to close. Standard skincare reaches the epidermis. Dermapen reaches the dermis — where structural remodelling happens.
Micro-injuries at a depth of 0.25 to 2.5 millimetres trigger a repair cascade: fibroblasts produce new type I and III collagen, connective tissue remodels, skin density increases. At the same time, the open micro-channels let active serum ingredients penetrate many times deeper than with a standard cream application. The effect is structural and lasting — not merely cosmetic.

Scars that remain — and what to do about them

Thicker male skin reacts more intensely to acne inflammation — indented, wavy and box scars are statistically deeper and more pronounced in men. Enlarged pores in the T-zone often don't normalise once acne treatment ends, regardless of home skincare quality.
Dermapen works directly at the level of the dermis. The needling mechanically breaks up scar fibres and triggers the synthesis of new collagen where the old tissue was irregular. After a series of four to six treatments, skin texture is clearly evened out, scars are shallower, and pores are narrower — because the thickened dermis squeezes them from within. This isn't the result of one session, but a lasting structural change.

Shaving, training and getting back to life after the treatment

After Dermapen, skin needs time. Hold off shaving for three to five days — mechanical friction on freshly treated dermis risks irritation and delayed healing. An electric shaver is slightly gentler than a blade, but the rule stays the same: wait until the redness has completely faded.
Intensive strength training and sauna during the first 48 hours increase blood flow and skin temperature — this can prolong redness and weaken the healing effect. A gentle walk isn't a problem. Return fully to the gym after two full days — by then, the skin will be closed and ready for exertion.
Plan the treatment with a three- or four-day margin before an important meeting or event. With scar protocols (depth 1.5–2.5 mm), redness can persist for up to 72 hours.

Discreet rejuvenation — with no visible intervention

Dermapen stimulates your own collagen — it doesn't change your features, lift or fill. The result is a healthier, denser, firmer version of your skin. Fine lines, drooping eyelids, loss of density after 40 — these are areas where Dermapen works gradually and naturally. No one will read the treatment off your face — they'll just see that you look fresh and rested.
The dose and needle depth are chosen individually to suit your anatomy and goal — there's no single protocol for everyone. The goal of repair is the same regardless of age or motivation: skin that's structurally healthier, with collagen produced at a level higher than age alone would provide.

Frequently asked questions

When can I shave after Dermapen?
Wait three to five days after the treatment before shaving the treated area again. Skin is reactive and open during the first few days — mechanical friction from a blade or shaver can cause irritation and slow healing. If you need to look groomed sooner, an electric shaver (not a blade) is the better option from day three, once redness has largely faded.
Do I need to skip strength training?
You don't need to give up activity — just take a 48-hour break from intense training and sauna. Elevated body temperature and strong blood flow right after the treatment can prolong redness and weaken the healing effect. Light activity (walking, gentle cycling) is fine right away. Return fully to the gym after two full days.
Will anyone notice I've had a treatment?
Redness after the treatment lasts 24 to 72 hours, depending on the needling depth used. During this time, the skin looks like it's had a bit of sun or a mild sun reaction — nothing that draws attention. Once the redness fades, there are no visible signs of the treatment. The final result — smoother skin, smaller pores, reduced scarring — reads to others as good skin condition, not as an aesthetic intervention.
Can I combine Dermapen with mesotherapy or PRP?
Yes — Dermapen with PRP (platelet-rich plasma from your own blood) is one of the most powerful regenerative combinations available with no long recovery. Growth factors from the plasma enter through the open micro-channels straight into the dermis, intensifying collagen repair. We plan combinations individually — during your consultation, we'll decide which protocol suits your goal and schedule.
Is Dermapen effective on deep scars — and when should I choose fractional microneedling RF instead?
Dermapen delivers lasting results on flat, wavy and moderately indented scars — after a series of four to six sessions, skin texture is clearly evened out. For very deep ice-pick scars, or where there's significant loss of skin firmness, fractional microneedling RF may be more effective, adding radiofrequency energy to the needling — a stronger tightening effect, but more downtime (two to four days). We often use both treatments in series — Dermapen to build the foundation, RF to strengthen the result. During your consultation, we'll assess your scar type and suggest the best path.
