A treatment room at J'adoreFACIAL COSMETOLOGY
Acne scars, enlarged pores in the T-zone, fine lines, grey, fatigued skin — these are marks a shop-bought cream can't remodel, because the problem sits deeper than the epidermis. Dermapen (fractional mesotherapy, or microneedling) doesn't "cover up" a flaw and doesn't fill anything in — it creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin that activate your own healing mechanism: fibroblasts build new collagen and elastin.
There's an added benefit: through those same channels, we deliver active serum straight into the dermis, where it actually works. At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by an experienced cosmetologist. Here's everything worth knowing before your first visit.
series of 4–6 sessions every 3–6 weeks (for pores and rejuvenation, often 3–4)
How it works
Dermapen is an automatic pen with oscillating microneedles (from a dozen or so to several dozen in a single sterile cartridge). Guided across the skin, it creates thousands of controlled micro-injuries at a precisely set depth — from very shallow (hyperpigmentation, tone) to deeper (scars, stretch marks). The skin reads this as a micro-injury and triggers a natural healing cascade: fibroblasts produce new type I and III collagen and elastin, and the tissue remodels itself.
The second mechanism is equally important: right after the needling, the micro-channels stay open for ten to several dozen minutes. This is a window for deep serum infusion — hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, peptides or plasma reach the dermis at this point, instead of sitting on the surface as they would with a standard cream application. Hence the common name "fractional mesotherapy": fractional needling plus active-ingredient mesotherapy in one treatment.

Interesting fact: through freshly opened micro-channels, active ingredients absorb many times more effectively than from a cream applied to intact skin — that's why the serum chosen for your specific concern matters just as much as the needles themselves. Dermapen alone stimulates the skin to work; the serum tells it what to work on.
Ideal for
Women's and men's needs
It's most often about evening out skin tone and texture, softening acne scars and gentle rejuvenation — with a strong focus on serum infusion (HA, vitamin C, peptides). This is the classic Dermapen for women: subtle, in a series, aimed at radiance and skin quality.
The areas we support
Men's skin is thicker, richer in collagen and less reactive — it often heals faster and allows for a slightly deeper needle setting. The goal: real remodelling of deeper acne scars and pore tightening, without a "cosmetic" look after the treatment. This is Dermapen for men.
The areas we support
Interesting fact: the same Dermapen that smooths the face is sometimes used on stretch marks, injury scars, and — with the right serum — on the scalp for thinning hair. The needle doesn't "treat" one specific problem; it activates the same regeneration mechanism wherever skin needs to rebuild.
Dermapen, fractional microneedling RF or fractional laser
These three methods for scars and rejuvenation differ in invasiveness, downtime and safety for darker skin tones. The choice is made by the cosmetologist during consultation, but the logic stays consistent:
mechanical micro-injuries + serum
can be too gentle for very deep ("ice pick") scars — then we combine methods
needles + RF energy (heat)
longer downtime (usually 2–4 days); usually pricier than Dermapen
thermal micro-columns
risk of hyperpigmentation with darker phototypes; longer recovery, especially with ablative lasers
From the cosmetologist's chair
The simplest filter I use: darker skin tone or no time for downtime → Dermapen or fractional microneedling RF (not ablative laser). Deep scars and light skin, ready for a longer recovery → fractional laser. Very often the best approach is a Dermapen series first, adding laser later, in a separate window — these aren't competitors, they're stages.
Safety
Microneedling looks simple, but this is exactly where small shortcuts cost the most — from infection to a lack of any result. Three things are worth asking about at any salon:
At J'adore, the treatment is carried out by an experienced cosmetologist, who assesses your scar type and skin phototype, and chooses needle depth, serum and number of sessions. This is expertise, not "running a pen over your face".
The needles come into contact with blood and lymph — the cartridge must be new, single-use, and opened in front of you. A shared head is an unacceptable infection risk.
The result largely depends on the preparation introduced through the channels. We use active ingredients from a legal, labelled source, chosen to suit your concern — not a "one-fits-all" liquid.
Red flag: a suspiciously cheap "Dermapen" · A bargain price is the most common warning sign. With microneedling, what matters is a sterile single-use cartridge, the practitioner's qualifications and genuine serum — and that costs money. You have every right to ask whether the cartridge is new and which preparation will be used. Walk away if someone promises "scars gone after one treatment", uses a shared head, or can't name the serum. "Miraculous", instant results are a red flag with this method.
Contraindications
This treatment involves breaking the skin's surface (microneedling) — so some contraindications are absolute, and some are temporary: in those cases, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation resolves.
From the cosmetologist's chair
The most commonly overlooked issue is herpes. Clients say, "I only have it on my lips, and we're treating my cheeks — that shouldn't matter." It does matter: an active virus during skin needling carries a real risk of spreading, regardless of where it appears. It's better to postpone by a few days and treat healthy skin.
This isn't an exhaustive list — we'll go through your medications, skin conditions, phototype and previous treatments individually during your consultation.

The visit

Consultation & skin assessment
the cosmetologist evaluates your concern (scars, pores, tone), skin phototype and expectations, chooses needle depth and serum, and rules out contraindications.

Makeup removal and cleansing
preparing the skin for the treatment.

Numbing cream (EMLA)
applied to the treatment area; after several dozen minutes, the skin is practically numb, making the treatment comfortable.

Dermapen microneedling
the pen is guided zone by zone (forehead, cheeks, nose, chin); expect a light scratching sensation and warmth.

Serum infusion through the open channels
a chosen dose of active ingredients penetrates deeply while the micro-channels are still open.
Soothing mask and aftercare instructions
cooling, redness reduction and a clear skincare protocol for the following days.
What to expect
Most importantly: this isn't an "instant" treatment. Right after leaving, the skin is red as if sunburnt — this is an expected stage, not a complication. The real result (denser, smoother skin, shallower scars) builds over the following weeks, as collagen is produced, and accumulates with each session in the series.
After the first treatment, I often hear: "the scar is still there, this isn't working." It is working — the skin just needs time to build new collagen fibres. That's why we set up a series from the start and take "before" photos, so after a few sessions there's an honest basis for comparison, not just an impression from the mirror after two days.
Portfolio
A record of the work in our salons — the place where we publish treatment frames and, after photo sessions, results.
A record of results — in preparation. We publish photographs of our clients only with their consent.
The result is cumulative and lasts for months, because it's your own collagen. For scars and pores, we often combine Dermapen with a matching serum or peel, then maintain the effect with single sessions on a seasonal basis.
Dermapen and your lifestyle
For a few days, freshly needled skin is more sensitive and has "open" micro-channels — which is why hygiene, avoiding irritation and sun protection matter most. The most common questions are about what comes after: makeup, sun, sauna, pool, acids, retinol.
For the first day, the skin has open micro-channels — we hold off on makeup for about 24 hours, to avoid introducing irritation or bacteria into the healing needle sites.
This is crucial: after Dermapen, skin is sensitive to UV, and sun exposure risks hyperpigmentation. Sunbeds are out, and we apply SPF 50+ daily for at least 4 weeks.
High temperature intensifies redness and swelling, and encourages bacterial growth. We hold off on sauna and hammam for around 2 days.
Chlorinated or unfiltered water on open micro-channels risks irritation and infection — we hold off on pools, jacuzzis and the sea for a few days.
We pause AHA/BHA and strong peels for around a week — during this time, the skin should be healing, not exfoliating further.
Retinol is too irritating for freshly needled skin — it returns after around a week. Oral retinoids (isotretinoin) are a separate matter — see contraindications.
