Consultation with a PMU artist for women

Why the design does more work than the needle

The PMU consultation is above all the domain of women, and this is where we design most fully. A PMU consultation for women usually covers brows, lips and liner: we establish the brow arch and density, the lip contour and shade, the liner thickness and "wing" — always matched to your features, your skin tone and how you wear makeup day to day. This is the moment when a loose "I'd like something with my brows" becomes a concrete design.

The areas we work on

  1. brows — arch, symmetry, density, choice of: hair strokes vs powder vs hybrid;
  2. lips — contour, shade, a natural effect (lip blush) or something more defined;
  3. liner — thickness, length, "wing" shape matched to eye shape;
  4. freckles — placement and intensity for a "sun-kissed" effect;
  5. assessment and a plan to refresh or correct old, faded PMU.

Why the design does more work than the needle

If you're worried that your PMU will end up "not you" — too dark, too thick, too obvious — that worry comes from exactly the same place as most permanent makeup disappointments: a skipped design stage. The consultation exists so the result is yours: matched to your features, your skin tone, and how you really look with makeup you actually like.
The consultation isn't about deciding for you — it's about letting you see the proposed shape and colour before anything happens. We draw brows in pencil for your approval in the mirror. We choose colour to suit your skin tone and hair, with an eye to how it will look years from now — not just in a photo taken straight after the treatment.

What a woman's perspective brings

A PMU consultation for women is usually the most complex, because we design the face as a whole: brow arch proportions, lip contour length and colour, liner thickness and shape — each of these decisions affects the others. A PMU artist looks at the whole face and often spots a synergy the client hadn't planned: softer lips that balance out bolder brows, or a liner shape worth adjusting for the eye's shape. That's why "yes, this" and "definitely not this" photos give us more to work with than general expectations.
  • Brow design: arch, symmetry and density matched to facial proportions, not the current trend;
  • Lips: choosing between subtle lip blush, a defined contour or an ombre effect, matched to skin tone and tooth colour;
  • Liner: thickness and wing shape matched to eye shape and lid position;
  • Freckles: placement and intensity for a subtle, not "stuck-on", effect;
  • Assessment of old PMU: sometimes faded makeup needs lightening first, and only then can a new design be planned.

A colour that ages well

One of the most important decisions at the consultation isn't about shape — it's about how the colour will fade. A shade that's too dark for the "fresh" look often drifts in an unexpected direction after a few years: grey, cool pink, greenish. A good consultation aims for a colour that works well both fresh and a year later. Often that means starting more subtly and building up intensity at the touch-up — not the other way round.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know what I want before I come in?
No — and that's actually one of the best reasons to come without a fixed plan. The consultation exists to build that plan together. Bring your inspirations (and anti-inspirations), and the PMU artist will suggest something that genuinely works on your face, not on a photo from the internet.
I'm worried it'll come out too bold. How do you control that?
Dry-run shape mapping (in pencil, no needling) and choosing a colour you approve before it's applied are exactly the mechanism for that control. You see the result before anything is done, and you can ask for as many adjustments to the drawing as you need. Nothing goes ahead without your yes.
I already have old permanent makeup — can I still come in?
Yes, and it's definitely worth it. Old, faded PMU can be a starting point for a new design, but a PMU artist needs to assess it first — sometimes it's too dark or poorly shaped, in which case we plan the new design only after lightening it. Bring any information about when and what was done, if you remember.
Is the consultation free?
The consultation before a planned first PMU is free of charge. If you want advice only, with no treatment planned, the fee follows the current price list. We confirm the details when booking.
Can I plan both brows and lips at a single consultation?
Yes — and we often do exactly that. A PMU artist designs the face as a whole and agrees the order: what to start with, so each area has time to heal properly before moving on to the next. One meeting is enough to put together the whole plan, even if the treatments themselves are carried out separately.
