Permanent eyeliner is one of the few treatments that genuinely shortens a morning routine — not by simplifying it, but by removing one of the trickiest steps in makeup. The eye is a sensitive, mobile area: a line drawn with pencil might be perfectly symmetrical at seven in the morning and smudged under the lower lid three hours later. PMU simply removes that variability.

A few practical things worth knowing before you book:
  • For the first few days after the treatment, you don't apply eye makeup — no mascara, no eyeshadow, no pencil; aftercare is just the recommended balm;
  • The line looks darker and more defined in the first few days than it will end up — don't plan important photos or events this week;
  • You set contact lenses aside on the treatment day and for the first few days of healing; come wearing glasses;
  • The final version of the line only becomes visible after full healing and the touch-up — patience in the first few weeks pays off.

Permanent eyeliner and everyday makeup — what stays, what goes

Many women wonder: what if I want a different look on a given day? PMU doesn't rule out makeup — you can still apply mascara, eyeshadow or extra eyeliner over the permanent base. The difference is that this base is always there — even at the pool, after crying, after the gym, after an overnight flight.
For women who like a bolder evening look, permanent lash-line enhancement acts as a foundation, with smoky eyes drawn on top with pencil — the result comes out deeper than without the base.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose a line shape that's trendy now, knowing trends will change in a year?
You can — and it's a reasonable choice. PMU naturally fades over one to three years, so in a few seasons you can refresh the line with a different shape. Your lineriste will suggest a version that both looks good now and ages well, rather than getting in the way at the later touch-up.
I have sensitive eyes and often tear up — is that a problem?
Watering around the eye is normal during and just after the treatment — it isn't a contraindication. What matters is telling your lineriste beforehand about dry eye syndrome, eye allergies, recurring conjunctivitis or frequent chalazia — this may change the plan or require postponing until the eye has settled.
Is a permanent line visible when I have no makeup on?
With lash-line enhancement — practically not. The result looks like naturally denser, darker lashes. With a subtle or classic line — yes, you'll see a discreet line, similar to a light pencil touch. What's visible with the naked eye is agreed and shown to you in the mirror before the pigment goes in.
How long does the line stay intense before it starts to fade?
It looks most defined straight after the treatment and touch-up. Over the following months, colour gradually fades — intensity drops smoothly, not suddenly. Most clients decide to refresh after one to two years, once the line starts looking faded compared with the original result.
Can I get permanent eyeliner if I already have lash extensions?
Usually, yes, but your lineriste decides the order and timing. During eyeliner healing, avoid applying lash glue or otherwise disturbing the lashes; the eyeliner treatment itself isn't a problem for lashes, whether natural or extended. We discuss the details during consultation.
