How does CO2 work on the skin?
The Bohr effect: CO2 injected under the skin binds to haemoglobin and... takes charge of it. It triggers the Bohr effect — haemoglobin releases oxygen into the tissue instead of carrying it further. The result:
- A sharp rise in tissue oxygenation
- Capillary dilation → improved blood flow
- Stimulation of collagen production (fibroblasts)
- Reduction of fat tissue (lipolytic effect)
- Reduction of dark circles under the eyes (improved microcirculation)

Julia / Reology device — CO2 for face and body
What the facial treatment involves:
- Disinfection
- A series of small CO2 injections — around the eye area, cheeks, neck
- A mild sensation of tightness or tingling after the treatment (normal)
- Redness for 30–60 minutes (normal)
Duration: 30–45 minutes.
Downtime: 30–60 minutes of redness. You can return to work straight away.
Sessions: 4–10 sessions, weekly or twice a week.
Detailed indication: dark circles
Carboxytherapy around the eyes is one of the most effective treatments for the vascular type of dark circles (blue-purple colouring).
How to recognise vascular dark circles: Press gently on the area below the eye — if the discolouration lightens, it's the vascular type. Carboxytherapy works best on this type.
Sessions: 6–8 sessions, weekly. First results are visible after 2–3 sessions.
