Massage · safety before pressure

Balinese massage is not an endurance test: when to reschedule your session

We adjust the intensity to your body's condition, not to the name of the massage.

A calf that has suddenly swollen and is painful on only one side does not need stronger kneading. It requires stopping the massage plan and seeking medical assessment. Similarly, a fever, an acute injury or an active infection do not become less significant just because the session was intended to be relaxing.

Balinese massage may combine pressure, kneading, work on tense muscles and elements of stretching. It does not cure diseases, it does not "flush out toxins" and it should not be painful to be effective. Safety depends on your consultation, the modification of techniques and the willingness to reschedule your visit.

The list of contraindications is not a uniform ban for every diagnosis. Some situations rule out massage, some require a doctor's approval, and some only require avoiding a specific area. The decision must be based on your current state, not just the name of the condition.

Fever, infection and clear weakness are reasons to stay at home

Massage will not shorten an infection. It may increase discomfort, dehydration and the risk of transmission to our staff and other clients. Please reschedule your visit if you have a fever, chills, an acute respiratory infection, vomiting, diarrhoea or a condition that leaves you feeling significantly weak.

Do not mask a fever with medication just to keep your appointment. Return once acute symptoms have subsided and in accordance with medical advice if the infection was serious.

Suspected thrombosis and acute circulatory disorders stop the massage

Unilateral swelling, pain, warmth or a change in the colour of a limb require urgent assessment, especially after immobilisation, travel, surgery or if you have risk factors for blood clots. You must not massage this area.

Diagnosed vascular diseases, heart failure and anticoagulant treatment require discussing the scope of the treatment with your doctor and therapist. Bruising after strong pressure is not proof of effectiveness; when taking medication, it may mean unnecessary risk.

Acute injury, recent surgery and unexplained pain require diagnosis before pressure is applied

A fresh sprain, tear, fracture, wound, severe inflammation or pain that worsens at rest is not a candidate for "breaking down". A massage therapist should not diagnose the cause or attempt to overcome protective tension by force.

After surgery, an injection treatment or an aesthetic procedure, please provide the date and scope. Approval for a massage on one part of the body does not automatically mean approval for work near a healing area.

Active skin lesions rule out contact in the affected area

Open wounds, weeping skin, infection, fungal infections, active cold sores, burns and severe exacerbations of dermatosis require us to skip the area or postpone the session. Oil and friction can increase irritation and spread an infection.

Please report any allergies to oils, fragrances and cosmetics. A "natural" ingredient can also cause an allergic reaction. For reactive skin, a simpler base without an intense fragrance is a sensible choice.

Pregnancy changes the position and techniques, but there is no single rule for all trimesters

Please provide the week of your pregnancy, your progress and any recommendations from your doctor. High-risk pregnancy, bleeding, abdominal pain, contractions, hypertension or worrying symptoms require contact with medical care, not a massage.

The therapist must be trained in prenatal massage and ensure safe positioning. A standard intensive Balinese session with deep pressure and stretching should not be automatically performed during pregnancy.

Chronic diseases and medications require specific modifications

  • In cases of osteoporosis and bone fragility, we limit pressure and stretching.
  • In cases of neuropathy, impaired sensation makes it difficult to assess the intensity of the stimulus.
  • In cases of cancer or during treatment, you need approval from your medical team.
  • In cases of uncontrolled blood pressure, or a recent cardiac or neurological incident, the session is postponed.
  • When taking anticoagulant medication, we avoid techniques that cause injury and bruising.

Do not hide a medical condition for fear of being refused. A modification may allow for a safer session, but only if the therapist is aware of the limitation.

Acute pain, numbness and dizziness stop the session

Stretching can be distinct and pressure intense, but acute pain, tingling radiating to a limb, loss of sensation, shortness of breath, nausea or dizziness are not stages to wait out. Tell us immediately and change your position or end the massage.

The therapist should regularly ask about the pressure, but you do not have to wait for the question. A scale of "firm but I can breathe freely" is safer than the ambition to endure the entire sequence.

In Krakow, describe your health condition before starting the ritual

J’ADORE INSTYTUT in Krakow is located at Karmelicka 45/2B. You can find information on the Balinese massage page in Krakow. When booking, please report any pregnancy, recent injury or surgery; complete the rest of the consultation on-site.

Reschedule your visit in case of infection, fever, an acute skin lesion or unexplained unilateral swelling. The massage is intended to improve comfort within the limits of healthy tissue. It is not worth performing when your body is sending a signal that requires diagnostics.
