Why September, not January?
Let's start with biology. All summer, your skin has been working in defence mode. It protected itself from UV, produced more melanin and thickened its outer layer. This is a natural response — but it also means that by late August, your face carries several layers of "armour" you wouldn't normally have.
In September, the UV index drops. This is fundamental: you can finally use active ingredients and treatments that were off the table all summer. Retinol, glycolic acid, laser therapy, chemical peels — all of it comes back into play.
At the same time, September feels like a psychological restart. A new school year, new projects at work, new energy. Behavioural psychology research points to the so-called "fresh start effect" — the tendency to begin new habits — being stronger at the start of new periods (Mondays, the first day of the month, September) than at any other time.
A yearly treatment plan — how professionals think
Cosmetologists and aesthetic medicine doctors don't think in single treatments. They think in seasons. Here's what the yearly skin cycle looks like from a salon's perspective.
September–January: laser and repair season
This is the golden window. Low UV means you can safely introduce the most active procedures of the year.
- Fractional lasers — for acne scars, hyperpigmentation, texture
- Series of chemical peels — rejuvenation and even skin tone
- Retinol in your home care — your skin has time to adjust without the risk of photosensitivity
- Hyperpigmentation treatment — tranexamic acid, arbutin, kojic acid, an IPL cycle
February–April: biostimulator season
Your skin is already cleansed and renewed after the autumn–winter series. Now it's time to build from within.
- Tissue biostimulators (bioremodelling) — improved skin firmness and density
- Needle mesotherapy — vitamin cocktails, hyaluronic acid
- Collagen supplementation — worthwhile if continued for at least 3 months
May–August: maintenance
Summer is a time for maintaining results, not intensive treatment.
- HydraFacial every few weeks — safe in summer
- Hydration and protection — SPF 50 daily, antioxidants in the morning
- Gentle mesotherapy — without risky ingredients
- No lasers, no exfoliating peels, retinol used very carefully
Consultation as the first step — not a treatment
This is where we get to something most people skip. You come to the salon and say: "I want a laser for hyperpigmentation." Or: "My friend had a biostimulator done, I want it too." But how do you know that's what you actually need?
- Current skin condition — hydration, density, elasticity, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, texture
- History — what you've done before, which active ingredients you use, any allergies you have
- Goals — what bothers you most? What do you want to change first?
- Budget and time — because the plan has to fit your life
Yearly budget — how to plan without price shock
Aesthetic treatments cost money. But they cost considerably less if you plan them ahead instead of buying on impulse.
Not everything at once — the art of prioritising
This is the trap perfectionists fall into. You see hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, enlarged pores, dryness and acne scars — and you want to fix EVERYTHING NOW. Don't.
- Priority 1: Texture and scars — these need a series of treatments in the autumn–winter season, start now
- Priority 2: Hyperpigmentation — can respond fairly quickly, but returns without consistent SPF
- Priority 3: Firmness and density — tissue biostimulators in spring, results build up over months
- Priority 4: Expression lines — Botox at any time of year, maintenance a few times a year
Your September checklist — 5 steps to get started
The snowball effect
There's something else few people talk about. Regular, planned skincare works like compound interest. Each treatment builds on the last. A peel prepares your skin for a laser. The laser stimulates collagen, which you reinforce with a biostimulator. The biostimulator improves skin quality, which responds better to home care.
In September, J'ADORE INSTYTUT opens its planning consultation season. This is a one-to-one meeting with a cosmetologist, during which we analyse your skin and create a yearly treatment plan tailored to your goals. Book in Warsaw (Żelazna, Mińska) or Krakow (Karmelicka) — because the best time to plan your skin is now.
