How injectable lipolysis works — the mechanism, plainly explained
The formula contains deoxycholic acid — a substance your body naturally produces to digest fats in the gut. Injected precisely into fat tissue, it breaks down the membranes of fat cells. Dead cells are cleared through the lymphatic system and gradually eliminated. A fat cell that disappears doesn't come back — you can't rebuild cells you no longer have. This is a structural change, not just temporary slimming.
An important distinction from creams, massages or device-based treatments: this isn't about "boosting metabolism" or "firming". The fat cell literally ceases to exist. That's why the results of injectable lipolysis are lasting — provided you don't gain significant weight afterwards (remaining fat cells in the area can still expand).
Four zones men target most often
Not every area of the body suits injectable lipolysis. It works best where fat is clearly defined, relatively shallow and genetically stubborn. In men, that means four areas:
- Double chin. A classic indication — fat under the jaw that appears genetically and doesn't respond to weight loss. After lipolysis, the area becomes sharper, and the jaw angle more defined.
- Jawline and cheeks. A soft jaw contour that makes the face look "rounded" regardless of weight. Lipolysis precisely reduces fat tissue in this area, sharpening the jawline.
- Love handles. Fat tissue on the sides of the abdomen — the hardest area to reduce through diet. A good candidate: a clearly defined pocket of fat, a relatively thin layer.
- Lower abdomen and navel area. Particularly relevant for men over 35, when subcutaneous fat in the lower abdomen no longer responds to training the way it used to. Note: lipolysis targets subcutaneous fat — no injection will touch an abdomen with visceral fat (deep, around the organs).
A series of sessions, not a single shot
Injectable lipolysis works in stages. One session is a starting point — it breaks down some fat cells, and your body begins clearing them. Full results require several sessions spaced several weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on tissue thickness, the area treated and how your body responds to treatment.
Abdomen and love handles — thicker tissue, more sessions. Chin and jawline — a thinner layer, often needing fewer repeats. The doctor assesses this in person, because there's no single answer for everyone. You judge the final result not after the last session, but a few weeks after completing the whole series — that's how long the lymphatic system needs to clear the broken-down tissue.
What the treatment involves and what to expect afterwards
The doctor marks the area and administers a series of shallow injections into the fat tissue. The treatment is performed without general anaesthesia — for the chin and jawline, it's usually done without local anaesthetic either; for the abdomen and love handles, a numbing cream or nerve block is often used, since the area is larger and more sensitive.
After the treatment, you can expect swelling, redness and tenderness at the injection sites — this is a normal inflammatory reaction, a sign the formula is working. Around the chin, swelling can be quite noticeable for a few days, making the face look worse than before treatment during that time. This passes. Around the abdomen and love handles, swelling is less visible, but tenderness may last longer.
- 01
step
Medical consultation — tissue assessment, qualification, series plan.
- 02
step
Treatment — a series of injections into the marked areas; duration depends on location and scope.
- 03
step
First 48–72 hours — swelling and tenderness peak; avoid intense exercise and saunas.
- 04
step
Weeks 2–4 — swelling subsides, fat tissue begins to be cleared by the lymphatic system.
- 05
step
Next session (4–6 weeks after the previous one) — once swelling has fully resolved.
- 06
step
A few weeks after the last session — the final result is visible and stable.
Downtime is minimal. Meetings, work, daily routines — you usually get back to them the next day. For the chin, it's worth planning a few days without important public appearances, since swelling is visible. For the abdomen and love handles, nothing shows from the outside — the only restriction is avoiding intense training for a few days.
Who qualifies — and who doesn't
The ideal candidate is a man in good general shape, with a clearly defined pocket of subcutaneous fat that doesn't respond to diet and training. Injectable lipolysis is not a weight-loss method — it's a correction of localised deposits for someone who already takes care of themselves overall.
Lipolysis vs other methods — a quick map
The market is full of methods for reducing subcutaneous fat. It helps to understand the differences, so you don't choose blindly.
Injectable lipolysis
Chemical destruction of fat cells
- Precise — targets small, well-defined deposits
- Lasting effect — destroyed cells don't come back
- Requires a series of treatments, with swelling after each session
- Jawline and chin — irreplaceable
Cryolipolysis
Freezing and apoptosis of fat cells
- Good for larger areas — abdomen, love handles
- No injections, no facial swelling
- One treatment = one applicator = one area
- Results appear 2–3 months after the treatment
Both methods can complement each other — cryolipolysis for the abdomen and love handles, injectable lipolysis for the jawline and chin. The doctor matches the method to the area and tissue thickness, not the other way round.
