BODY CONTOURING & SLIMMING

Stubborn fold reduced
“with cold”

"I exercise, I watch my diet, and this fold on my stomach and my love handles just won't budge." This is one of the most common frustrations we hear at the salon — and it isn't about willpower. Some localised fat deposits are genetically resistant to calorie deficit and exercise.

Cryolipolysis was designed exactly for this: the applicator draws in the chosen fold and cools it in a controlled way. Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than skin, muscle and nerves, so they trigger a process of programmed cell death (apoptosis). Over the following weeks, your body gradually clears them through the lymphatic system, and the area becomes narrower. This isn't weight loss and it won't replace diet or training — it's precise contouring of one stubborn spot. At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by an experienced cosmetologist. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your first visit.

How it works

How it works

Cryolipolysis relies on a simple biological principle: fat cells (adipocytes) are more sensitive to cold than the surrounding skin, muscle or nerves. A vacuum applicator gently draws in the chosen fold and cools it in a controlled way. Once cooled, these fat cells trigger apoptosis — a natural process of programmed cell death — while the surrounding tissue stays intact.

The key word is "gradually". Cells don't disappear on the treatment chair — over the following weeks, your body clears them through the lymphatic system, and the zone slowly narrows. That's why cryolipolysis is a treatment that keeps working for weeks after your visit, not during it. That's also why patience matters here more than the number on the scale the next day.

Three layers in cross-section: the epidermis at the surface, the dermis beneath it, and deepest of all the subcutaneous adipose tissue, which is what the treatment targets. The applicator draws in a fold and cools it, and the cold reaches the fat cells beneath the skin. The specialist matches the number of sessions and the settings to the area.
  1. Epidermisthe surface the handpiece works on
  2. Dermisthe layer the stimulus passes through
  3. Subcutaneous adipose tissuethe aim of the treatment — we work here

An important distinction: cryolipolysis reduces the number of fat cells in the zone — it doesn't "dehydrate" or temporarily "burn" them. Eliminated cells don't come back. But the ones that remain can still grow larger if your weight increases significantly. Stable weight means a lasting result.

Ideal for

Ideal for

Cryolipolysis suits someone close to their target shape who's frustrated by one specific area. The ideal candidate has a local, graspable fold that's resistant to diet and training — not excess weight to lose overall.

  1. Abdomen and lower abdomena "muffin top" fold that stays even when your stomach is flat in the morning.
  2. Love handlesthe most common and most rewarding zone, for both women and men.
  3. Thighsmainly the inner thigh, resistant to exercise.
  4. Buttocksthe area just below the buttock (the "banana roll").
  5. Double china small applicator contours the jawline.
  6. Back and bra-line areafolds that "spill over" under clothing.
  7. Armsexcess on the inner side.

Who cryolipolysis WON'T help

This isn't a method for general weight loss or for cellulite or lax skin (those call for other treatments — drainage, endermology, RF). It also won't work where a clear fold can't be grasped by the applicator. If that's your case, we'll suggest a different path during consultation, rather than promising a result that won't happen.

Female and male zones

What's different

For her

Why this fold won't respond — and what to do about it

For women, cryolipolysis for women most often targets zones changed by pregnancy, hormones or simply genetics — areas that "won't shift" despite an active lifestyle. The goal: subtle contour refinement, not a transformation.

The areas we support

  1. abdomen and lower abdomen — a stubborn post-pregnancy fold, a "muffin top" on an otherwise flat stomach;
  2. love handles and bra-line area — what "spills over" under a dress;
  3. inner thighs and the area below the buttock;
  4. chin — subtle contouring of the jawline for photos and camera.
For him

One stubborn fold instead of your whole silhouette

Men are a strong angle for this treatment — and one of the most rewarding. Cryolipolysis for men is mainly about stubborn love handles and abdomen for someone who trains but can't quite "finish off" these two spots. Discreetly, with zero downtime, with no talk at the gym.

The areas we support

  1. love handles — a classic male problem resistant to calorie deficit;
  2. abdomen and lower abdomen — a "waist" that holds on despite activity;
  3. chest and back area — folds under clothing;
  4. chin — a sharper jawline with zero downtime.

Fun fact: the fat-freezing effect was first noticed... in children eating ice lollies — dermatologists described loss of fat tissue in the cheeks after prolonged sucking on cold lollies (so-called "popsicle panniculitis"). This observation gave rise to the entire technology of controlled, safe fat cooling.

Safety

What really determines the result

With cryolipolysis, the result and safety depend on a few things worth asking about at any salon:

  1. Who performs it, and whether the zone is properly assessed

    A cosmetologist needs to assess whether the fold is even suitable for the applicator, and choose its size and placement. Without this assessment, the treatment can be ineffective or uneven.

  2. Whether the zone suits the method

    Cryolipolysis works on a graspable fold, not "diffuse" fat or cellulite. A good salon will advise against the treatment where it won't work.

  3. How many sessions and at what intervals

    Often more than one application per zone is needed, with a 6–8-week gap — this isn't a "one and done" treatment. You should hear an honest plan before the treatment, not after.

  4. A realistic picture of the result

    Cryolipolysis reduces the fold by a portion of its volume — measurably, but not "by half in one session". A premium salon shows you honest ranges, not advertising promises.

Red flag: "-10 cm in one session" and a package priced like a lunch deal · Promises of "minus 10 centimetres after one visit", "we'll freeze your whole silhouette", or a suspiciously cheap package with no consultation are classic warning signs. Cryolipolysis works locally and over weeks, on one graspable fold. Skipping a zone assessment and consultation before the treatment is another red flag — no one should apply the applicator without checking contraindications first (including cold sensitivity). You have every right to ask how many applications you'll realistically need and what result to expect.

Contraindications

When to postpone the treatment

Some contraindications are permanent, others temporary — in the latter case, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation passes. We'll go through the full list individually during consultation.

We don't perform it
  • Conditions linked to cold hypersensitivityincluding cryoglobulinaemia, paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria, cold urticaria. This is a key contraindication for a cold-based treatment.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Active cancer and ongoing oncological treatment(without consent and guidance from the treating doctor).
  • Clotting disorders, anticoagulant medication, tendency towards thrombosisrequire assessment.
  • Active infection, inflammation, damaged skin or a herniain the treatment area.
  • Fever and general infectionwe wait until you've recovered.
  • Fresh, intense tanin the zone — we postpone until the skin has settled.
  • Significant excess weight / obesitycryolipolysis is local contouring, not weight loss; with a high BMI, we first discuss what a realistic goal looks like.

From the cosmetologist's chair

The most often overlooked point: cold hypersensitivity. It sounds unusual, but for a cold-based treatment it's a real, hard contraindication — which is why the consultation before cryolipolysis is never a formality. Second point: cryolipolysis isn't a "starting point for weight loss". The best results go to people who are already close to their target shape, with one stubborn fold left to address.

This isn't a complete list — we'll discuss your medical history, medication and previous treatments individually during consultation.

The visit

What to expect during your visit

  1. Cryolipolysis — treatment at J'adore Instytut — Consultation & zone assessment

    Consultation & zone assessment

    your cosmetologist checks whether the fold suits the applicator, discusses your expectations, rules out contraindications and sets a realistic plan (how many sessions, what intervals).

  2. Cryolipolysis — treatment at J'adore Instytut — Zone preparation

    Zone preparation

    a special protective membrane is applied to the skin (to shield it from overly intense cold), then the applicator is positioned.

  3. Cryolipolysis — treatment at J'adore Instytut — Suction and cooling

    Suction and cooling

    the vacuum applicator "draws in" the fold; for the first few minutes you'll feel pulling, pressure and building cold, which soon turns into numbness — the area becomes cold-numbed and usually stays comfortable from there (you can read or use your phone).

  4. Cryolipolysis — treatment at J'adore Instytut — Massage after removing the applicator

    Massage after removing the applicator

    a brief, brisk massage of the cooled zone; it can be the least pleasant part, but it supports breakdown and removal of the cells.

  5. Cryolipolysis — treatment at J'adore Instytut — Leaving with zero downtime

    Leaving with zero downtime

    you go straight back to your day; the zone may be red, tender and slightly swollen for a few days.

What to expect

No surprises

Most importantly: you won't see the result straight away. Cryolipolysis doesn't "melt" fat on the spot — it triggers a process that your body finishes over weeks. The first weeks can even feel like the opposite: the zone may be slightly swollen and look "fuller" before it starts to narrow.

  1. Faza 1.0–7 daysredness, swelling and tenderness in the zone; the area may look "fuller" — this isn't the result yet
  2. Faza 2.3–4 weeksswelling subsides, first signs of contour narrowing appear
  3. Faza 3.8–12 weeksa clear, assessable result — your body has finished clearing the cooled cells
  4. Faza 4.~3 monthsfinal result; if the plan includes another session for this zone, this is a good time to assess and decide

From the cosmetologist's chair

The most common reaction in the chair: the first 5–10 minutes can be uncomfortable (pulling and intense cold), and then — "oh, I don't feel anything anymore". That's normal: the cold numbs the area. The moment people remember most isn't the treatment itself, but the warming massage right after the applicator comes off.

What's normal after the treatment

  • redness and bruising in the zone — fades within a few days;
  • swelling and a feeling of being "puffed up" — the area may look fuller for the first few days to a couple of weeks;
  • tenderness, tingling, temporary numbness of the skin — a result of the cooling, fades gradually (sometimes over a few weeks);
  • a feeling of a "hardened" fold under the skin in the first few days.

The result is lasting — eliminated fat cells don't come back. There's one honest condition: keeping your weight stable. With significant weight gain, the cells that remained in the zone — and those elsewhere in the body — can grow larger.

Cryolipolysis and your lifestyle

What and when

There's no "downtime" after cryolipolysis — you go straight back to work and daily life. Most questions are about what supports the result: water, movement, sauna, sun. There's one rule — help the lymphatic system clear the cooled cells and don't irritate the tender zone in the first few days.

  1. Water and hydration

    drink plenty — it helps

    This is your ally: removal of the cooled cells happens through the lymphatic system, which works better with good hydration. Drink more water over the following weeks.

  2. Training and movement

    in fact recommended

    Physical activity supports the result — it stimulates circulation and the lymphatic system. In the first 1–2 days, ease off heavy loading of the tender zone, then move normally. Cryolipolysis doesn't replace training — it thrives alongside it.

  3. Sauna and hot baths

    wait a few days

    In the first few days, the zone is swollen and tender — high temperatures increase swelling. It's best to wait for sauna and very hot baths until the redness and swelling have gone down.

  4. Sun and sunbeds

    protect the zone

    Right after the treatment, skin in the zone can be red and sensitive — protect it from intense sun, and shield exposed areas with SPF 50+.

  5. Alcohol

    skip it at first

    Alcohol dehydrates and puts strain on the body, and you want your lymphatic system working at full capacity. It's best to cut back in the first few days.

  6. Diet

    keep your weight stable

    The most important factor for lasting results: stable weight. Cryolipolysis removes cells in the zone, but diet and fitness determine whether the result stays for years.

Frequently asked questions

  1. QuestionWhen will I see the result of cryolipolysis?
    AnswerNot straight away. The first few weeks can even feel like the opposite — the zone may be swollen. The first signs of narrowing appear after about 3–4 weeks, and the full, assessable result usually appears after 8–12 weeks, once your body has finished clearing the cooled cells.
  2. QuestionIs the result lasting?
    AnswerYes — eliminated fat cells don't come back. The condition is keeping your weight stable. With significant weight gain, the cells that remained in the zone — and those elsewhere in the body — can grow larger.
  3. QuestionHow many centimetres / kilograms will I lose?
    AnswerCryolipolysis isn't about weight — it's about contour. It isn't about kilograms. It reduces the volume of a specific fold by a portion of its size. Promises like "-10 cm in one session" are a warning sign; we'll show you honest ranges during consultation, once we've assessed the zone.
  4. QuestionHow many sessions do I need?
    AnswerUsually 1–3 per zone, with a 6–8-week gap between applications to the same area. The number depends on the thickness of the fold — we determine this during consultation, not in advance.
