What has just happened to your hair
Before we move on to the rules, it helps to understand why the first 48 hours matter. Nanoplastia works differently from a traditional keratin smoothing treatment. Active ingredients penetrate deep into the hair structure, and the bonding process is still ongoing for some time after the treatment. The salon procedure does not simply end with the result ‘sealed’. During the first two days, your hair is particularly prone to reshaping. The choices you make during this time genuinely affect how the result lasts over the following weeks.
This is why every decision during this period matters. Wetting your hair, tying it up, pressure from your pillow, or contact with salt or chlorine can all leave a mark before the ingredients have fully stabilised. This is not about paranoia. It is about managing this window consciously.
Your first 48-hour schedule
The schedule below is a practical guide for the first two days after leaving the salon. Think of it as an instruction manual for a new device. You do not need to memorise it, but it is worth checking before something goes wrong.
- 01
Leaving the salon — the first hours
Go straight home. Avoid moisture, rain and wind. If the weather is overcast, ask your hairdresser for protective film or a hair covering for the journey. Do not reach for a hair tie. Do not wear a hood that presses your hair against your face. Avoid touching your hair more than necessary. Your hair should fall freely or be styled loosely.
- 02
The first evening — no washing
Do not wet your hair that night. This is the most important part of the whole schedule. Even if your hair feels heavier because of the product used in the salon, wait it out. Water before the recommended time has passed can interrupt the bonding process and weaken the result before it stabilises. Go to bed with your hair loose. Do not tie it up or tuck it under your pillow.
- 03
Night-time — sleep and your pillow
Sleep with your hair spread freely over the pillow, or gathered lightly into a very loose braid. Do not use an elastic with a metal clasp or anything that creates pressure. Ideally, use a silk or satin pillowcase. It reduces friction and helps prevent dents. In the morning, check for any creases from your bedding. Smooth them with a straightener on a low temperature if your hairdresser has approved its use.
- 04
The second morning — your first check
Do not wet your hair until the time specified by your hairdresser has passed. This is usually 24–72 hours, depending on the product. During this time, you can gently comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb. Check for any creases from sleeping and, if your specialist has approved it, lightly run a straightener over any problem areas.
- 05
Your first wash — how to do it properly
When it is time for your first wash, use only a sulphate-free shampoo. Acidic pH and strong detergents can ‘open’ the cuticle and shorten how long the result lasts. Use warm, not hot, water. Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends, not at the roots. Be careful with styling. Hair after Nanoplastia often needs far fewer products than before.
What to avoid completely during the first 48 hours
The list of restrictions after Nanoplastia can seem long. Rather than remembering everything, understand one rule: anything that can change the shape of the hair or open the cuticle interrupts or weakens stabilisation. Below are the most common mistakes hairdressers see.
If you accidentally wet your hair too early, do not panic. Dry it immediately with a hairdryer on warm, not hot, air using a diffuser or concentrator nozzle. Smooth it with a straightener if your hairdresser has approved this. Do not leave wet hair to dry on its own.
Care in the following weeks — how to extend the result
You have completed the first 48 hours. Now the long-term part begins. Nanoplastia is an investment that can last for several months with the right care. Here are a few principles worth making part of your routine.
- Sulphate-free shampoo — this is not optional, it is essential. Traditional shampoos with sulphates remove the result too aggressively with every wash.
- Cool or lukewarm water for rinsing — hot water opens the cuticle and speeds up the loss of active ingredients.
- Less conditioner at the roots — after Nanoplastia, your hair can be smoother and shinier without being weighed down by too many products. Observe how your hair responds.
- Heat protection before every use of a straightener or curling iron — high temperatures still place stress on the hair, even after the treatment.
- Avoid salty and chlorinated water without protection — before swimming in a pool or the sea, apply conditioner or oil to your hair as a barrier.
- Do not apply products containing alcohol to your hair — they dry it out and may shorten how long the result lasts.
Nanoplastia and other treatments — what to combine and when
Nanoplastia works well with other care treatments, but the order and timing matter. Here are several combinations worth considering when planning your hair care.
Botox for hair
Often combined with Nanoplastia as a course of treatments — Botox nourishes and regenerates from within, while Nanoplastia smooths and protects the hair cuticle. Together, they provide comprehensive restoration.
Keratin treatment
An alternative or complement — keratin works in a similar way but has a different formulation. Your specialist may suggest combining them, depending on your hair condition and the result you are looking for.
Moisturising ampoules / oil treatment
An ideal part of your home care after Nanoplastia. Gentle oil treatment for the ends or deeply moisturising masks help maintain the result and care for your hair between visits.
Do not combine colouring or lightening with Nanoplastia during the same visit — chemical treatments and the active ingredient bonding process interfere with each other. If you are planning to colour your hair, have the colour done first, then Nanoplastia at least several days later. Or do it the other way round, depending on your hair condition and your hairdresser’s recommendation.
Frequently asked questions after leaving the salon
A few things appear after almost every Nanoplastia treatment — so you are not surprised if you notice something unexpected.
Hair looks better in the salon than at home
Normal during the first few days
- Your hairdresser finished with straighteners and products
- The result is most intense immediately after the treatment
- After the first wash, your hair “settles” — this is natural
Hair feels heavier or stiffer
Temporary and resolves after the first wash
- The product used during the treatment may leave your hair feeling heavy
- The first wash gently removes any excess
- The final result feels lighter than immediately after the treatment
If anything concerns you a week after the treatment — frizz returning too quickly, an uneven result or dryness — call the salon and describe what you can see. A good hairdresser always prefers to know rather than guess.
