Profhilo: contraindications that cannot be masked by feeling well

Postponing your appointment is part of a safe plan, not a failure of your schedule.

You wake up with a scratchy throat, but otherwise feel fine. You have a Profhilo appointment in the afternoon and do not want to lose your slot. In an injection treatment, however, "I can manage" is not a qualification criterion. Profhilo does not treat infections, it does not replace skin disease therapy, and it is not a treatment that must be performed despite deteriorating health.

You will find a description of the procedure on the Profhilo in Krakow page. This text outlines safety: what to report, when to postpone your visit, how to distinguish a typical reaction after an injection from a signal requiring contact, and why the final decision is made by the doctor after an examination.

An absolute contraindication ends the plan for the moment

The treatment is not suitable for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection, inflammation or skin infection in the injection area, or have a known hypersensitivity to the product's ingredients. Autoimmune diseases, coagulation disorders, treatments affecting immunity and previous severe allergic reactions are also significant. The name of a diagnosis does not always determine the future, but it must always be disclosed during your consultation.

Do not hide information for fear that the doctor will refuse. A refusal on a given day does not mean a permanent ban. Often, disease stabilisation, the consent of your attending physician, the completion of treatment or the choice of a different method is required.

A relative contraindication requires changing the date or an additional assessment

  • Fever, respiratory infection, antibiotic therapy or noticeable weakness.
  • Active cold sores or prodromal symptoms near the planned area.
  • A recent dental procedure, tooth inflammation or planned oral surgery.
  • A new medication, a supplement affecting coagulation or a change in dosage — do not discontinue these on your own.
  • Acne exacerbation, dermatosis, irritation from the sun or another procedure.
  • A recent injection, laser or surgical procedure in the same area.
  • An important event without a margin for swelling, bruising or a follow-up.

There is no single safe number of days to wait for every situation. The type of treatment, healing, area and health status change the decision. Call the salon before you arrive and provide details instead of rescheduling on your own or hiding symptoms.

After the treatment, observe the direction of changes, not just their presence

Minor swelling, tenderness, pinpoint redness and bruising may be part of the expected reaction after injections. They should gradually fade. Urgent contact is required for escalating symptoms: severe or unusual pain, rapidly increasing swelling, whitening or mottling of the skin, vision disturbances, shortness of breath, generalised hives, fever or purulent discharge. Do not wait for your planned follow-up in such cases and do not try to mask the appearance with an intense massage.

Before you leave, save the contact number and the procedure for outside working hours. A salon performing injections should be able to explain not only the aftercare but also the path of reaction to a complication. Safety does not end the moment the syringe is put down.

Where did Profhilo come from — and what is its technology

Before you understand the difference between Profhilo and Profhilo Structura, you must understand what Profhilo is in general. Because it is not a filler, even though it is administered with a needle. It does not add volume where it is missing. It does not fill wrinkles, it does not model the oval. It is a completely different category of treatment.

Profhilo is a biostimulator based on hyaluronic acid at an exceptionally high concentration, which — instead of staying in one place like a filler — spreads in the tissues over a relatively large area. The application technique (so-called BAP points — Bio Aesthetic Points) is designed so that the preparation can migrate under the skin and reach everywhere it is not. The result? Not pinpoint filling, but diffuse hydration of the entire tissue and — more importantly — stimulating the skin to produce collagen, elastin and lipids.

What does "structural" mean — and why it is a different game

Profhilo Structura is an evolution of the same NAHYCO technology, but designed with a completely different tissue layer in mind. While classic Profhilo works mainly in the dermis — hydrating, stimulating regeneration, improving quality and surface tension — Structura reaches deeper: to the subcutaneous tissue and SMAS (the superficial musculo-aponeurotic system).

What does this mean in practice? That Structura does not just "hydrate and nourish" the skin, but works on its support from underneath. Where tissue loses density, structure and the ability to hold its form with age — Structura acts as an "internal scaffold". It is denser, harder in consistency, administered deeper and with a technique adapted for support, not for hydration.

Profhilo (classic)

hydrating and regenerating biostimulator

  • Administered intradermally or deeper into the dermis
  • High migration capacity — reaches large areas
  • Goal: hydration, improvement of skin quality and tension
  • Stimulation of collagen, elastin, lipids
  • BAP technique — a few points on the face
  • Result: healthier, denser, more radiant skin

Profhilo Structura

structural and supporting biostimulator

  • Administered deeper — to the subcutaneous tissue and SMAS
  • Denser, less mobile — stays where it is administered
  • Goal: rebuilding tissue support and scaffolding
  • Stimulation of fibroblasts in deeper layers
  • Application technique and points different from the classic one
  • Result: improvement of the oval, support, lifting tension

When the doctor chooses which preparation — the logic of indications

The most common mental error is: "I am 45, my skin has lost tension — I will take Profhilo Structura because it is a stronger version." This reasoning is tempting, but incorrect. "Structural" does not mean "stronger" in terms of the amount of effect — it means a different anatomical goal. And that is precisely why the decision belongs solely to the doctor, who will first assess what is really happening and at what tissue level.

  • Classic Profhilo — when it is the right choice. The skin is dry, lacks radiance, is thin or "tired". You can see a loss of density and surface elasticity — the skin returns slowly after being pinched, it does not "bounce back". The point is to improve the quality of the skin itself, deep hydration and stimulation of regeneration. Also: preventatively for people in their thirties and forties, before deeper structures begin to lose support. In these cases, Structura would be overkill — and if administered inadequately, it might not give the effect where we expect it.
  • Profhilo Structura — when the tissue loses support, not just quality. The face begins to "sag" — the middle part collapses, the jawline loses sharpness, the cheeks descend. It is not so much about dryness or skin radiance, but about the fact that the geometry of the face is changing: the oval blurs, the tissue does not hold where it should. This is a signal that the problem lies deeper — in a layer that classic Profhilo simply will not reach. In this context, Structura can work as a biostimulator supporting the structure from within — not instead of a filler or a facelift, but as part of a plan.
  • Combining both — when we have two different problems at once. We quite often encounter a face that simultaneously has problems with skin quality (dryness, loss of radiance, thin skin on the cheeks) and with structural support (sagging tissues, blurred oval). In such cases, the doctor may plan a treatment programme including both preparations — at different times or in different sessions — because they address literally different layers of the same problem.

What the treatment looks like — what to expect

Both Profhilo and Profhilo Structura are salon treatments, performed by a doctor, without general anaesthesia. But the experience may differ and it is worth knowing this in advance.

  • Classic Profhilo. The BAP technique usually involves a few precise injection points on the face (cheeks, mouth area, jawline, temples). The treatment is relatively quick, and the needle reaches the dermis. Small bumps may be visible at the injection site for several minutes after the treatment — this is normal and will fade. We usually perform two sessions four weeks apart, with results developing over several weeks afterwards.
  • Profhilo Structura. The technique and injection depth differ — the product is placed deeper, which may result in slightly different sensations during the treatment. The number and placement of points are tailored to your specific anatomy, as determined by the doctor. The product is denser, so it may require slightly more time at the injection site. The session schedule — similar to the classic version — usually involves two visits, although the doctor will customise the plan for you.
  • Results and waiting time. Both products act as biostimulators — this means that results develop gradually as your tissues respond to the product and begin to produce their own supporting fibres. Do not expect an immediate effect like that of a filler. The full result is usually assessed six to eight weeks after the final session.

What Profhilo is not — and what it is worth combining with

One of the most common mistakes is expecting things from Profhilo that it does not do by definition. Therefore — before you decide on the treatment — it is worth being clear about what it makes no sense to expect from it.

  • Profhilo does not add volume. If your main problem is sunken cheeks or a lack of volume in the mid-face, Profhilo will not fill this deficit. That is a task for modelling fillers or volumetry. Profhilo will improve the skin quality over this area, but it will not "return" the tissue to its place.
  • Profhilo does not lift mechanically. If the tissue has already sagged significantly — drooping cheeks, visible jowls, loss of jawline definition — Profhilo alone (even Structura) will not replace lifting threads or a HIFU treatment. It can be part of a plan, but not the only tool.
  • Profhilo works perfectly with other methods. This is why it is often used as part of a comprehensive treatment: Profhilo improves skin quality and condition, while other methods address volume or tension. The combination is often more effective than each method separately.

What the protocol looks like — when and how many

Bioremodelling is not a one-off "improvement injection". It is a treatment protocol — and although it is minimally invasive, it requires planning.

  • Base series: standardly two sessions four weeks apart. This is the time needed for fibroblasts to respond to the first signal and for the second treatment to strengthen the process that is already underway.
  • Assessment of results: full results are usually visible four to eight weeks after the final session — because the skin needs time to synthesise new collagen. Results are not assessed "immediately after".
  • Maintenance: after the base series — a maintenance treatment once a year or every six months, depending on your individual skin condition and expectations. Without maintenance, the results persist but gradually fade.
  • Injections: the product is administered at several points in each area (arm, knee, décolletage), according to an anatomical map. One body part involves a few precise punctures, not a "massage with injections".

Who it is for — and what to realistically expect

Body bioremodelling is not a treatment for everyone — but it is for a much wider group than you might think. Profhilo Body works best where the problem is a loss of skin quality and tension, not an excess of tissue. In other words: it is a tool for working with skin that has lost its elasticity — not a tool for body contouring.

  • Who will benefit the most: people who notice a loss of tension in the arm, knee or décolletage area but are not looking for a volumetric effect; people after weight loss, when the skin has not "returned" after the loss of adipose tissue; people with thin, rapidly ageing skin in these areas; women and people aged 35–65 for whom body skin is just as important as facial skin.
  • What it will not fix: Profhilo Body will not reduce the volume of the arms, it will not eliminate fat or cellulite, and it will not remove deep stretch marks. If the problem is shape — there are other tools (cryolipolysis, endermology). If the problem is cellulite — that is a separate category. Bioremodelling is working with skin quality, not with the silhouette.
  • Treatment season: because results develop over several weeks, it is worth planning the series in advance — e.g. in spring, so that the results are visible in summer. However, there are no absolute seasonal contraindications.

It is also worth knowing that Profhilo Body can be combined with other treatments — biostimulators, peels or lasers — if the skin requires work on several levels simultaneously. What makes sense in a specific case is decided by a consultation, not a general rule.

What to do with it — where to start

If your arms, knees or décolletage are areas you pay attention to — or have started to cover up — this is not a matter of getting used to it. The condition of your body skin is just as treatable as the condition of your facial skin. It just requires different tools.

A sensible starting point is not the decision to have a treatment, but a consultation, which will allow us to assess the specific area and your specific skin. Because Profhilo Body is one of the tools, and whether it is the right one — or perhaps a biostimulator, body mesotherapy, a laser or a combination — depends on what is actually happening under the skin. The best results come from protocols tailored to the condition, not schemes tailored to trends.
