Nucleofill, Profhilo or mesotherapy — a quick-reference guide

All three improve the skin — but each one works on a different "layer". Here's how to tell them apart before anyone chooses on your behalf.

"I want something hydrating, regenerating, for overall skin quality" — this is the most common request we hear during consultations. It immediately raises a question: Nucleofill, Profhilo or mesotherapy? All three sound like treatments "for general condition". All three enter the skin through a needle. All three promise firmer, more hydrated, denser skin. But here's the key point — they get there through completely different routes. Confusing them is the fastest way to disappointment. Not because the treatment "didn't work" — but because it worked on something other than what you expected. So instead of a review, here's a simple guide: one problem, one tool, zero jargon.

Three paths to the same skin — but entirely different mechanisms

Before we compare them, one thing worth knowing: mesotherapy is a category, while Profhilo and Nucleofill are specific products. Profhilo is delivered using a mesotherapy technique. So is Nucleofill. But they differ in what they're made of — and what they actually do inside the skin. Think of "car" as a category, but electric and hybrid engines work in entirely different ways.

Mesotherapy

delivers nutrients directly into the skin

  • vitamin cocktails, amino acids, hyaluronic acid, peptides
  • hydration, radiance, more even skin tone
  • the blend is tailored to a specific concern (acne, fatigue, hyperpigmentation)
  • gradual results, requires a series

Profhilo

biodiffuses through the skin and stimulates all types of collagen fibres

  • ultra-pure, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid with a dual molecular weight
  • spreads beneath the skin, reaching large areas
  • stimulates collagen I, III, IV and elastin simultaneously
  • firmness, density, a "skin from ten years ago" effect

Nucleofill

regenerates skin at cellular DNA level

  • polynucleotides (PDRN) — DNA fragments isolated from salmon or trout
  • activates skin cell receptors, triggering the skin's own repair processes
  • rebuilds the matrix, increases density and hydration at a deeper level
  • particularly effective on very damaged, thin skin — after sun exposure or aggressive treatments

How to tell what your skin needs — a home test

Before a doctor or specialist assesses your skin, you can do a preliminary check at home. It takes three minutes — and it helps you arrive at your consultation with a specific question, not a vague "I want to improve something".

  • Skin looks grey, dry and dull, but has no visible wrinkles. You're missing radiance and even tone — maybe early signs of fatigue. → Direction: mesotherapy (a cocktail tailored to your specific concern).
  • Skin has clearly lost firmness. Cheeks have dropped slightly, the facial contour has blurred, skin feels "softer" than a few years ago. → Direction: Profhilo (rebuilding firmness and density across a large area).
  • Skin is very thin, "paper-like", visible vessels, and doesn't respond well to other treatments. This can follow excessive sun exposure or aggressive procedures. → Direction: Nucleofill (cellular-level regeneration, matrix rebuilding).
  • You have more than one concern — fatigue plus loss of firmness plus thinner skin. → This is the most common scenario for women over 35. Your doctor will design a plan combining two or three tools, often across separate sessions.

When it makes sense to combine them — and how that usually works in practice

The question "which treatment should I choose" often has one answer: none of them alone. Skin over 35 rarely has just one isolated concern — it usually needs nourishment, regeneration and firmness restoration at the same time. A good treatment plan is usually a sequence, not a single choice.

Mesotherapy + Profhilo

a series of mesotherapy builds the "base" (hydration, tone), Profhilo adds structure and firmness. A popular combination for early signs of ageing.

Nucleofill + Profhilo

deep regeneration plus firmness restoration. Particularly effective on thin skin with reduced elasticity. Often spread out over time.

Mesotherapy + Nucleofill

a nourishing cocktail plus a repairing one. A good sequence for skin that's tired or affected by external factors — sun, stress, diet.

All three in a seasonal plan

spring/summer: mesotherapy (hydration, antioxidants); autumn/winter: Profhilo or Nucleofill (rebuilding, deep regeneration). This approach treats skin as a long-term project, not a single treatment.

The sequence is always decided by your doctor — and always depends on your skin's current condition, not on what's currently trending. A plan that worked for a friend may not be right for you, because your skin is at a different stage of the problem.

One table worth bringing to your consultation

For those who learn best through comparison — here's the short version in three lines. Show it to your doctor, say which description sounds most like your skin, and start the conversation from there — not from searching for a treatment name on Google.
