Three names, three completely different jobs
Let's start with the basics: none of these three replaces the others. Profhilo is a biostimulator — it hydrates and "repairs" the skin from within. Filler (hyaluronic acid) adds volume where it's missing. Mesotherapy is precise nourishment of the skin with a blend of active ingredients. These are three different philosophies, not three levels of the same treatment.
Profhilo
hydrates and biostimulates the entire skin
- dry, thin skin, lacking elasticity
- the "deep hydration" effect — skin feels soft and firm
- visible results after 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart
- absorbs evenly under the skin (BDDE technique)
Filler (hyaluronic acid)
adds volume here and now
- folds visible at rest (nasolabial folds, marionette lines)
- lips, cheeks, facial contour, tear trough
- results visible immediately after the treatment
- reversible — can be dissolved with an enzyme
Mesotherapy
nourishes and regenerates the skin from within
- tired, grey, dull skin, lacking radiance
- vitamin cocktails, amino acids, peptides, hyaluronic acid
- results build up over a series of sessions
- also available in a needle-free version (electroporation)
An at-home test — how to work out what you need
Three simple questions in front of the mirror. They take a minute and immediately steer your conversation with the doctor in the right direction:
- Is your skin dry, thin and lacking elasticity, but without a specific fold you want to "fill in"? → You're talking about the condition and hydration of your whole skin → direction: Profhilo or mesotherapy (or both together).
- Is there one specific spot that bothers you — a nasolabial fold, a hollow tear trough, lips or cheeks that have lost volume? → That's precision work → direction: filler.
- Does your skin look grey, dull, without radiance — not one fold, but the whole "finish" feels stale? → That's a nourishment and microcirculation issue → direction: mesotherapy.
In practice the boundaries are rarely sharp — a mature face often has a bit of every category. But simply naming what bothers you most means your consultation starts from something concrete. And concrete is always a better starting point than "I'd like to do something about this."
Can you combine them — and when does that make sense?
The best results in aesthetic medicine rarely come from a single treatment. Profhilo, filler and mesotherapy work at different levels — which is why they complement each other rather than compete. The logic behind combining them is simple: each tool covers a different "layer" of the problem.
Profhilo + filler
Profhilo improves the condition and hydration of your whole skin, while filler works precisely where volume is missing. Often given in separate sessions, but as part of one plan.
Profhilo + mesotherapy
Together they create comprehensive skin "nourishment": Profhilo builds a base of hydration and elasticity, mesotherapy feeds the skin with micronutrients. Results are visible more deeply and last longer.
Mesotherapy + filler
Skin condition as the background, volume as the accent. This makes sense when skin is dehydrated and losing its contours at the same time.
All three in one plan
For more visible signs of ageing, or as an anti-ageing programme: each stage covers a different "layer", usually spread out over time rather than done all at once.
