Profhilo or Nucleofill — two different approaches to skin quality

Profhilo and Nucleofill sound similar, but they work through two different mechanisms. Neither is "better" — what matters is which one addresses your specific concern.

Two names come up one after another during a consultation: Profhilo and Nucleofill. Both are associated with "hydration". Both are popular choices among people seeking better skin quality — and that's largely where the similarities end. Profhilo works through an exceptionally mobile hyaluronic acid that spreads under the skin and stimulates its own regenerative processes: firmness, hydration, density. Nucleofill goes deeper — it's a polynucleotide-based formula that rebuilds the cellular environment. It can improve tissue changed by age or external factors in a more structural way. Neither is a "stronger version" of the other. Think of them as two different keys to the same door — and sometimes it's one, not the other, that you actually need.

What each one actually does

Before we compare them, it helps to understand the mechanism — because that's what determines which solution addresses your problem. Profhilo contains hyaluronic acid with a unique consistency: it doesn't fill in specific points. Instead, it spreads under the skin, penetrating deeper layers and gradually prompting fibroblasts to produce their own collagen and elastin. Nucleofill is a completely different molecule — polynucleotides (PDRN) that act as a cellular bioprogrammer. They improve the environment skin cells live in, regenerate a damaged matrix, and hydrate intensely at a molecular level.

Profhilo

Biorevitalisation — hydration and lift

  • Lax skin that has lost firmness and elasticity
  • "Glow" effect and even texture
  • Quickly visible improvement — skin looks more rested
  • Ideal for face, neck, décolletage and hands

Nucleofill

Matrix regeneration — rebuilding the cellular environment

  • Dehydrated, thinned or "depleted" skin (for example, after sun exposure or stress)
  • Marked improvement in elasticity and hydration in deeper layers
  • Results build gradually but tend to last longer
  • Particularly valued for skin showing signs of photoageing

How to tell what you need — a mirror test

Before your consultation, ask yourself a few questions in front of the mirror. This isn't a diagnosis, but it's a good starting point for a conversation with a specialist:

  • Does your skin look "deflated" and lacking bounce? Thin, lax, losing the contour of the facial oval — this may suggest a need for biorevitalisation. Direction: Profhilo.
  • Is your skin very dry, rough to the touch, with a fine network of lines under palpation? And does it fail to improve despite good skincare? This suggests the cellular matrix may need deeper support. Direction: Nucleofill.
  • Do you want a quick result before an important event? Profhilo works faster — the first changes in the skin are visible just a few days after the first session.
  • Has the problem built up over years, and are you looking for a longer-term solution? Nucleofill builds its effect more slowly, but matrix regeneration is a structural change — not just a surface improvement.

When it's worth combining both treatments

Profhilo and Nucleofill don't just avoid conflicting with each other — they can work well together. If your skin needs both biorevitalisation and deeper regeneration, combining the two methods (at the right intervals and in the right order, determined by a doctor) can give better results than either treatment alone.

Nucleofill first, Profhilo as the next stage

When skin is significantly weakened, it's worth starting by rebuilding the cellular environment, then working on firmness and density.

Profhilo as regular support, Nucleofill as an intensive course

Profhilo works well for ongoing skin maintenance, while Nucleofill serves as a deeper intervention from time to time.

Both + vitamin mesotherapy

Adding vitamin cocktails strengthens the regenerative effects of both formulas.

Combined with home care

Without proper hydration, sun protection and antioxidants, the results of either treatment last for a shorter time.

What neither one can replace

Both Profhilo and Nucleofill improve skin quality — its hydration, elasticity, texture, and regeneration. But if the problem is a lack of volume (sunken cheeks, a deepened nasolabial fold) or wrinkles from muscle movement, neither treatment will solve that on its own. They're part of a bigger system, not a complete answer to every sign of ageing.

So instead of looking for the "best treatment for skin", it's worth starting with the question: what exactly do I want to improve? Firmness, hydration, volume loss, muscle movement — these are four different problems with four different answers. A good consultation starts with this conversation, not with the name of a product.
