In men, thinning hair is most often androgenic in origin (receding hairline, crown) — and this is rarely a situation for extensions. Strand thickening on men is harder to conceal and doesn't address the cause. That's why with male thinning we usually refer you to a trichologist first: a strengthening treatment, scalp mesotherapy or scalp PRP work on the actual condition of your hair, not just its appearance.

When it's worth it — indications

  • A thin, see-through parting — when the scalp shows more than you'd like in bright light.
  • A "skinny" ponytail or plait — hair tied back looks thinner than it does loose.
  • Hair weakened by styling — years of colouring, lightening and straightening have taken volume from the ends.
  • Naturally fine hair — when density has always been lower than you'd like, and you want a fuller style.
  • Volume for a special occasion — a wedding, a photoshoot, an important event where hair needs to look its best.
  • Evening out a growing-out cut — when your style "hangs" thin at the bottom and you want to give it more body.

Hair thickening for men — when it makes sense

Extension-based thickening is designed mainly with women in mind, and that's how it's performed at J'adore Instytut. But that doesn't mean "never for men". It means: before you come in for extensions, it's worth understanding clearly what this service does and doesn't do.
If your hair is dense, strong, and you simply want to visually thicken it or add volume for an important occasion, a consultation makes sense. Your stylist will assess whether the condition and length of your hair allow it.

When extensions aren't the answer

In men, thinning hair — receding hairlines, a thinner crown — is most often androgenic in origin (DHT and genetics). This is a trichological issue, not a styling one, and extensions won't solve it. Extra weight at the root of already weakened hair can make things worse.
That's why, with androgenic thinning, we start with diagnosis and real strengthening: a trichology consultation, scalp mesotherapy or scalp PRP — treatments that work on the condition of the hair follicle, not just on outward appearance. Only once your hair is healthy and strengthened is it worth discussing visual thickening.

I have receding hairlines — will thickening help?
With androgenic thinning, extensions aren't the first step. This is an issue that requires trichological diagnosis and work on scalp condition — mesotherapy or PRP. Once your hair is strengthened, your stylist can assess whether visual thickening makes sense in your case.
Do men actually get thickening done at J'adore?
The service is possible after a consultation — the condition is healthy, strong natural hair, sufficient length and realistic expectations. Thickening is harder to conceal on men than on women, because a short style leaves less room to distribute strands discreetly. Your stylist will tell you honestly at the consultation whether the result will look natural in your case.
Can I do this to look younger and feel more confident?
That's a reasonable and understandable goal. If your hair is healthy, thickening can give a visual result straight away. But if an older-looking appearance is caused by androgenic thinning, real and lasting rejuvenation comes from trichological work, not from optics. We can discuss both paths — we start with a consultation.
