Polynucleotides — treatment at J'adore InstytutA treatment room at J'adore

AESTHETIC MEDICINE

Denser, rested skin
“not a filler”

Tired, grey, "lifeless" skin — thin and dehydrated, skin that stays dull despite good home care — is the most common reason people ask about polynucleotides. This is not a filler and not "a stronger moisturiser". Polynucleotides (PDRN) are next-generation regenerative biostimulators. Once injected into the skin, they trigger its own renewal: they prompt cells to produce collagen, hydrate intensely from within, and protect against oxidative stress.

They don't change your features — they improve skin quality. At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by a doctor or experienced cosmetologist (depending on the preparation and protocol). Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your first visit — including how the preparations differ and where the price differences come from.

  • Tired, grey, dull skin
  • Thin, "paper-like", low-density skin
  • Dehydrated skin
  • Delicate eye area
  • Irritated, vascular, reactive skin
  • Recovery after barrier-disrupting treatments

How it works

What polynucleotides are and how they work

Polynucleotides (marked as PDRN or PN) are long chains of genetic material fragments — usually derived from fish (including salmon or trout roe) and purified into a safe, fully biocompatible form. Once injected into the skin, they don't "fill" it — they trigger regeneration at cellular level.

They work in several ways at once: they stimulate fibroblasts (the cells that produce collagen and elastin) into action, bind water and hydrate from within, act as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory (protecting skin from oxidative stress), and improve microcirculation. The result is skin that's denser, firmer, better hydrated and more radiant — naturally, without changing your features.

Three layers of skin in cross-section: the epidermis at the surface, the dermis beneath it, and deepest of all the subcutaneous tissue. Cream stops at the epidermis. The needle ends its run in the dermis, where the formula spreads in fine deposits. The specialist sets the delivery depth during the consultation.
  1. Epidermisthe barrier no cream passes through
  2. Dermisthe layer we direct the actives to
  3. Subcutaneous tissuedeeper than this delivery reaches

The most common myth to bust: "polynucleotides are just stronger hydration". They're not — they're primarily about regeneration and rebuilding skin quality; hydration is one of the effects, not the main goal.

AESTHETIC MEDICINE

How it works

Polynucleotides are injected intradermally — shallow, in a series of micro-deposits — not deep beneath the tissue, like a dense contour-building preparation. The gel doesn't take the place of lost volume, and it doesn't provide any mechanical support: it spreads through the dermis in a fine network, exactly where fibroblasts and capillaries do their work. A doctor decides during consultation — after taking a history and assessing the tissue — at what depth and in what quantity the preparation is administered, and whether it's indicated at all in your case. This is a medical qualification, not a choice from a treatment menu.

The mechanism itself has two stages, spread over time. First comes the physical effect: long polynucleotide chains bind water and form a hydrated gel in the skin, which immediately improves hydration and tissue elasticity — this is more pronounced in variants with added hyaluronic acid, since hyaluronic acid also retains water strongly. Then comes the biological part: as the chains gradually break down, the fragments act as a signal to fibroblasts to resume producing collagen and elastin — which is exactly why the effect builds over weeks rather than appearing overnight. The preparation doesn't stay in the skin indefinitely: it absorbs naturally, broken down by tissue enzymes, so the result is temporary by design and most people need maintenance sessions.

Good to know: polynucleotides are essentially fragments of DNA — which is exactly why fish-derived material comes into play at all. A DNA molecule is built from the same four bases in fish and in humans, so tissue reads the purified chains as biocompatible rather than as a foreign body. This is also why the fish allergy question comes up at every consultation, not just "as a precaution".

Ideal for

Ideal for

  1. Tired, grey, dull skinwhen your complexion looks "overloaded" and short on sleep.
  2. Thin, "paper-like", low-density skinlosing firmness and elasticity.
  3. Dehydrated skinthat doesn't regain comfort despite good home care.
  4. Delicate eye areadark circles, "tired eyes", very thin skin (dedicated variants).
  5. Irritated, vascular, reactive skinthanks to the soothing, anti-inflammatory action.
  6. Recovery after barrier-disrupting treatmentslaser, peels, microneedling.
  7. Preventionusually from around age 30, when skin quality begins to decline.
  8. Treatment areas: face, eye area, neck, décolletage, hands. A specialist chooses the preparation variant and series plan after assessing your skin.

For her and for him

What's different

For her

Polynucleotides for women — what this is really about

Most often, this is work on radiance, firmness and complexion regeneration — restoring freshness, and supporting thin, tired, dehydrated skin and the delicate eye area. This is classic polynucleotides for women — often part of a "skin quality" plan alongside fillers or Botox.

The areas we support

  1. grey, tired complexion lacking radiance — revitalising the face and neck;
  2. thin, "paper-like" skin losing firmness;
  3. eye area — dark circles and "tired eyes" (dedicated variant);
  4. prevention — supporting skin quality before noticeable losses appear.
For him

Polynucleotides for men — repair, not a makeover

For men, this is mainly about repairing skin stressed by sun, oxidative stress, daily shaving, and usually a lack of routine SPF protection. This is polynucleotides for men — the goal is discreet: denser, healthier, better-hydrated, less tired skin, with no visible "change".

The areas we support

  1. sun-damaged skin and a "rough", tired look;
  2. irritated, reactive skin after shaving — soothing action;
  3. dehydration and loss of density in skin that's had little skincare;
  4. zero downtime — easy to fit a visit between commitments.

Good to know: the same mechanism — prompting the skin to repair itself — means polynucleotides are also sometimes used to support healing after barrier-disrupting treatments (laser, peels). Aesthetic radiance is just one face of the same regeneration.

Safety

What really determines the result

With polynucleotides, the result and its safety depend on a few things worth asking about at any salon:

  1. Who performs it

    Polynucleotides are administered by an aesthetic medicine doctor or an experienced cosmetologist — depending on the preparation and protocol. This is an injectable treatment, so technique, hygiene and proper qualification based on a medical history all matter.

  2. Whether the preparation is genuine

    Polynucleotides are a technologically advanced category — efficacy and safety depend on the purity and origin of the material. We work exclusively with preparations from authorised distributors.

  3. History-taking and qualification

    Since PDRN is derived from fish material, we always ask at consultation about allergies to fish and seafood, as well as medications and conditions that could affect the treatment.

Red flag: suspiciously cheap polynucleotides · A bargain price is the most common warning sign — with an injectable preparation, origin and storage matter as much as technique. You have every right to ask about the preparation's name and variant, its distributor, and who performs the treatment. A good salon will answer without hesitation.

What to expect during your visit

  1. Consultationa specialist assesses your skin, chooses the preparation variant (e.g. pure Nucleofill vs Newest with hyaluronic acid) and the area, and takes a history (including the fish allergy question).
  2. Preparationthorough cleansing and numbing cream for comfort; the treatment is well tolerated.
  3. Micro-injectionsthe preparation is administered via a series of point injections (technique matched to the area), covering the area evenly. The whole process takes several dozen minutes.
  4. Aftercare tips and departureno bandages; small bumps at the injection sites may be visible right after the treatment (temporary).
  5. Next session in the serieswe schedule the next appointment, since the effect only builds over 3–4 sessions.

Contraindications

When to postpone the treatment

Some contraindications are permanent (or need individual assessment), and some are temporary — in that case, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation resolves.

We don't perform it
  • Allergy to fish or seafoodpolynucleotides are derived from fish material; be sure to mention this before the treatment.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Active cold sores (Herpes)even at a site other than the injection site (e.g. on the lip or near the nose), not just in the treated area. The treatment can reactivate it — we postpone until healed.
  • Autoimmune conditions in an active flare
  • Tendency to keloid scarring
  • Active cancer or oncological treatmentassessed individually.
  • Active infection, inflammation or an unhealed woundin the treatment area.
  • Fever or a general infectionwe wait until you've recovered.
  • Clotting disorders and anticoagulant medicationrequire a doctor's assessment.

From the specialist's chair

The two things most often overlooked: fish allergy and cold sores. With PDRN, the material is fish-derived, so an allergy needs to be stated clearly. And a cold sore "just on the lip" still matters for a facial treatment — an active virus is a risk regardless of location. Better to postpone by a few days.

This isn't a complete list — we'll go through your medications, health conditions and previous treatments individually at consultation (and refer you to a doctor if there's any medical doubt).

What to expect

No surprises

The key point: this is a cumulative treatment. Hydration and a "fresher" look can be noticeable almost immediately, but the real regenerative effect builds gradually — the full result comes from the series, not a single visit.

  1. Faza 1.immediatelyhydration and a "fresher" look; bumps fade within hours
  2. Faza 2.a few daysredness and any bruising fade
  3. Faza 3.two to four weeksradiance, firmness, a less "tired" complexion — first visible results
  4. Faza 4.six months to a yearthe effect after a full series — with recommended maintenance
Some people say "it's probably not working" after one session. That's completely normal — polynucleotides build their effect over a series. That's why we set out a plan for 3–4 sessions upfront and don't judge the result after the first visit.
From the specialist's chair

What's normal right after the treatment

  • small bumps at the injection sites — usually gone within a few hours;
  • mild redness in the treated area;
  • occasionally a small bruise (the fine needle can catch a tiny vessel) — fades within a day or two.

The result usually lasts from six months to a year, and each session in the series reinforces the last. After that, single maintenance sessions every several months to about a year are enough.

Polynucleotides and your lifestyle

What you can do, and when

The first few days are about protecting skin that's still recovering. There's really one rule — in the first 24 hours, avoid irritating the injection sites or provoking bruising, and pay particular attention to sun protection during the first week.

  1. Makeup

    skip for ~24 hours

    Skip makeup over the treated area for roughly 24 hours — give your skin and the injection sites time to settle calmly.

  2. Sauna and pool

    48–72 hours off

    High temperatures and chlorinated water irritate the skin and can worsen swelling. It's best to wait 2–3 days before sauna, hammam or pool.

  3. Intense exercise

    wait 48–72 hours

    Sharply increased circulation encourages bruising and swelling. Light activity is fine, but hold off on intense training for 2–3 days.

  4. Sun and sunbeds

    avoid + SPF 50+

    Avoid sunbathing and sunbeds, and SPF 50+ is essential during the first week — skin that's still regenerating is more sensitive to UV.

  5. Strong acids and retinol

    until the series is complete

    Hold off on strong acids and retinol until the series is complete, or as advised — keep your skincare gentle during this time.

  6. Alcohol

    skip on treatment day

    Alcohol dilates blood vessels and increases the risk of bruising — best avoided on the day of the treatment.

Before the treatment, gentle skincare is all you need; it's worth stopping strong acids a few days beforehand and — in agreement with your specialist — anything that increases bleeding risk.

Polynucleotides

Frequently asked questions

  1. QuestionAre polynucleotides just hydration?
    AnswerNo. Polynucleotides prompt the skin to regenerate and produce collagen, and act as an antioxidant and soothing agent — that's far more than hydration. Hydration is one of the effects, not the main goal.
  2. QuestionDoes it hurt?
    AnswerThe sensation is minimal — numbing cream helps, and the treatment is well tolerated. Small bumps from the injections fade within a few hours.
  3. QuestionWhen will I see results, and how long do they last?
    AnswerHydration is often immediate; radiance and firmness usually appear after two to four weeks; the full effect builds over a series of 3–4 sessions. Results typically last from six months to a year, with recommended maintenance.
  4. QuestionHow many sessions do I need?
    AnswerUsually a series of 3–4 sessions every 2–3 weeks, followed by single maintenance sessions every several months to about a year. This is a cumulative treatment — a single session mainly delivers hydration.
