Prenatal massage (pregnancy) for women

Your body changes every week — the massage keeps pace with those changes

Prenatal massage for women is a treatment designed entirely around the expectant mother — her body, her wellbeing and her need for rest. It's a space for women in its purest form: a safe side-lying position, gentle touch, work exactly where pregnancy places the greatest strain, and full respect for your comfort and privacy. The intensity is always gentle, matched to the day and the trimester.

When it's worth it — indications

  • Back and lower back pain — the growing bump puts strain on the lumbar spine and the muscles around it.
  • Swelling and heavy legs — swollen ankles and calves, especially in the evening and in hot weather.
  • Neck and shoulder tension — from changed posture, poorer sleep and carrying weight "out in front".
  • Sleep problems — difficulty finding a comfortable position, along with shallow, restless sleep.
  • Fatigue and overload — your body works overtime around the clock.
  • Need for rest — an hour just for you, breathing space in an intense time.

The areas we work on

  1. back and lower back — relief for spine pain caused by the growing bump;
  2. legs and ankles — gentle work to ease heaviness and swelling;
  3. neck and shoulders — releasing tension from changed posture;
  4. side-lying position on pillows, always avoiding the abdomen — comfort and safety come first.

Your body changes every week — the massage keeps pace with those changes

Nothing stays the same during pregnancy: back pain at eight weeks feels different from back pain at twenty-four weeks, and leg swelling comes and goes in waves. That's why every prenatal massage session starts with a short conversation — we ask how you feel today, not how you felt last time. Intensity, duration and area are matched to your current trimester and how you feel, not to a fixed routine. Your body is the starting point every time.
Women most often come to us with three complaints: lower back pain (from a shifted centre of gravity and a growing bump), heavy, swollen legs (worse in the evening and in hot weather), and neck and shoulder tension (from changed posture and poorer sleep). Massage doesn't treat these underlying causes — but it brings real relief from tension and gives your body the rest it needs.

What it's like to lie on a massage table during pregnancy

Lying face-down is out. Lying flat on your back with a growing bump can be uncomfortable and may press on major blood vessels. That's why we work only in a side-lying position, using special pillows — under the head, between the knees and under the bump. We adjust the pillows until you're genuinely comfortable. If anything starts to feel uncomfortable during the session, we change your position immediately.
From this position, we have full, comfortable access to your back, lower back, neck, shoulders and legs — exactly the areas working hardest during pregnancy. We never touch the abdomen or the area around it — this rule is fixed, with no exceptions.

Senses and setting during pregnancy — what's different

During pregnancy, some scents you used to love can suddenly become unbearable. That's why we avoid strong essential oils and use only gentle products safe for pregnancy — fragrance-free massage oil or balm. Have a favourite product your doctor has approved? Feel free to bring it. The room temperature is comfortable, but we avoid hot compresses and hot stones — overheating the body isn't advised during pregnancy.
If you're sensitive to touch in a specific area (for example, painful varicose veins or a sensitive hip), let us know at the start — we'll avoid that area without needing to be asked twice.

A series or a single visit — what makes sense

A single visit brings real relief you'll feel that same evening: lighter legs, less lower-back pain, calmer sleep. The results last longer the more regularly you have massages — many expectant mothers choose visits every two or three weeks in the second half of pregnancy, when the strain on the body is greatest. We'll work out a rhythm together, taking into account how you feel and any advice from your doctor.

An hour just for you — and why it matters

Pregnancy is a time when more and more attention goes to the baby — preparations, check-ups, decisions, plans. An hour of massage is an hour when you can focus entirely on yourself: on your own breathing, on the tension leaving your neck, on the feeling of lighter legs. Many expectant mothers say it's the only moment in the week when they truly let go. You don't need to justify it — it's part of the self-care you deserve.

Frequently asked questions

Can I come alone, without a partner or family member?
Of course — this space is entirely for you. No one else needs to be, or is expected to be, in the room unless you want them there. Someone close to you can collect you after the visit, but the session itself is time just for you.
Can I book a massage in late pregnancy, for example at week 34 or 36?
Yes — we work with women throughout the second and third trimesters, right up to the end of pregnancy (as long as your doctor sees no contraindications). In late pregnancy, we choose the position and scope of the massage with extra attention to how you feel and any swelling.
Can massage trigger contractions or put the pregnancy at risk?
Prenatal massage, performed correctly — from the second trimester, in a side-lying position, with gentle pressure and no pressure on the abdomen — does not trigger contractions or put your pregnancy at risk. If anything concerning appears during the session, we stop immediately. We also always confirm beforehand that your doctor sees no contraindications.
What about swelling in the hands and wrists — can massage help?
During pregnancy, swelling most often affects the legs and ankles, but it can also appear in the hands and wrists. We work mainly on the legs, back and neck; we can include gentle work on the hands or wrists if there's no contraindication — just let us know at the start of your visit.
Can I come back for massage after giving birth?
Yes — once your body has settled after birth, you can return to relaxation or classic massage (depending on your needs). After a caesarean section, wait for your doctor's approval. Massage after birth helps your body recover and is a great complement to the postpartum period.
