A drooping eyelid tightened
“no cutting”

"Heavy", drooping upper eyelids, excess skin that hides your eyelid crease and makes you look tired even after a full night's sleep — this is one of the first areas where time starts to show. The classic solution is surgical blepharoplasty: cutting away the excess skin with a scalpel. Plasma IQ is a non-surgical alternative: instead of a cut, it uses a controlled plasma arc that tightens the skin point by point and lifts the eyelid.

The result can be comparable to surgery for a moderate excess of skin — no operating theatre, no stitches. It is, however, an invasive treatment with real downtime: for a few to around two weeks you'll see swelling and small scabs, and that needs planning for. At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by a doctor or experienced cosmetologist. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before you decide.

  • Drooping upper eyelids
  • Laxity and fine lines on lower eyelids
  • Crow's feet
  • Lines above the upper lip
  • Skin lesions

How it works

How it works

Plasma IQ is a device known as a plasma pen. Its tip never touches the skin — a microscopic plasma arc (air ionisation) forms between the electrode and the epidermis. At the point of contact, the epidermis undergoes instant sublimation — it vaporises, leaving a tiny "dot": a small, controlled scab.

The real work happens underneath, though: beneath each point, the skin contracts, and the surrounding tissue tightens like fabric being pulled taut. On top of that comes fibroblast stimulation — the cells that produce collagen — so the result keeps building for weeks after the treatment. On the eyelids, this gives a lift and tightening similar to surgical removal of excess skin, but without an incision or stitches.

The number of "dots" and their placement isn't a template from the internet — a specialist designs them individually for your anatomy and the amount of excess skin. That's why qualification is essential here.

Three levels of skin in cross-section: the epidermis at the surface, the upper dermis beneath it, and deepest of all the further reaches of the dermis. The plasma arc vaporises a point of the epidermis, and the heat beneath it tightens the upper dermis. The specialist sets the scope of the work after assessing the lesion.
  1. Epidermisthe layer vaporised at the point of contact
  2. Upper dermisthe level where the tightening starts
  3. Deeper dermisdeeper than the spot treatment reaches

Ideal for

Ideal for

  1. Drooping upper eyelidsexcess skin, "heavy" eyes, a tired look; this is the most common indication and an alternative to blepharoplasty for moderate excess.
  2. Laxity and fine lines on lower eyelidsgentle firming of the under-eye "bag" area.
  3. Crow's feetthe fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes.
  4. Lines above the upper lip(so-called "smoker's lines") — vertical lines above the mouth.
  5. Skin lesionsseborrhoeic warts, skin tags, milia, small lesions — following a prior assessment of their nature.
  6. Correcting minor asymmetry or small scarstargeted skin remodelling.
  7. People who want to avoid surgeryand accept a few days of downtime in exchange for no cutting and no general anaesthesia.
  8. Every skin lesion must be assessed before removal — if its nature raises any doubt, we refer you for diagnostics first rather than removing it blindly.

The female zone and the male zone

What's different

For her

Eyelids that give away your age — and what to do about it without a scalpel

For women, the most common reason for a visit is drooping upper eyelids hiding make-up, along with fine lines around the eyes and above the lip. The goal is a more open gaze and smoother skin, while keeping the eye's natural shape. This is the classic Plasma IQ for women.

The areas we support

  1. lift for a drooping upper eyelid — a "lighter", more open gaze;
  2. fine lines on the lower eyelids and crow's feet;
  3. vertical lines above the upper lip ("smoker's lines");
  4. removal of small skin lesions and milia on the face.
For him

Drooping eyelids — a tired look, even when you're not tired

For men, the dominant concern is a drooping, "heavy" upper eyelid that creates a tired, harsh look — often genetically determined. The goal: a discreet lift without changing the character of the face and without a "done" look. This is Plasma IQ for men.

The areas we support

  1. drooping upper eyelids — a tired, heavy-looking gaze;
  2. laxity of the lower eyelid skin and crow's feet;
  3. removal of seborrhoeic warts, fibromas and other small lesions on the face;
  4. discretion: the result is "you look well", not "you've had something done".

Fun fact: "plasma" isn't a laser or a current passing through the skin — it's the fourth state of matter. The device tip never touches the skin at all: a microscopic arc works through the air, and the entire process happens in microseconds, right at the surface.

Safety

What really determines the result

Plasma IQ works thermally and leaves micro-injuries on the skin — which is why three things determine the result and safety, and are worth asking about at any salon:

  1. Who performs and qualifies you

    At J'adore, the treatment is performed by a doctor or experienced cosmetologist, and a doctor assesses the nature of any skin lesions if there's any doubt. The specialist selects the intensity and pattern of points for your skin and phototype.

  2. Phototype assessment and pigmentation risk

    Darker skin prone to hyperpigmentation needs extra care and strict sun protection — a poorly performed treatment or sun exposure during healing risks permanent hyperpigmentation.

  3. Realistic qualification

    A good specialist will say plainly when excess skin is too great and surgery would be the better choice — rather than promising a result plasma can't deliver.

Warning sign: "plasma lift in half an hour, no healing required" · Plasma IQ always comes with a few days of downtime — swelling and scabs. If someone promises a result with no healing period, "ready for a party straight away", or doesn't assess your phototype and the nature of your skin lesions — that's a warning sign. You have the right to ask who performs the treatment and what healing will look like. A reputable salon will answer without hesitation.

Contraindications

When to postpone the treatment

Some contraindications are permanent, others temporary — in which case we simply postpone the treatment until the situation resolves. This is a thermal treatment that breaks the epidermis, so the list is similar to that for ablative lasers.

We don't perform it
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • A tan or recent sun exposureon the treatment area — healing skin after tanning carries a high risk of hyperpigmentation; we wait until the tan has faded.
  • A tendency to keloid scarring and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and a darker phototype — these require particular caution and an assessment of whether the treatment is appropriate.
  • Recurrent cold sores (Herpes)around the mouth/face — this thermal treatment can trigger an outbreak, even away from the treated area; for recurrent cases, a specialist may recommend antiviral prophylaxis, and an active outbreak is reason to postpone the treatment until healed.
  • Photosensitising medicationsand photosensitivity — these require assessment and an appropriate interval.
  • Isotretinoin (Roaccutane)and other strong oral retinoids — an appropriate interval after finishing treatment is required.
  • Active infection, inflammation or skin damagein the treatment area, and fever / a general infection — we wait until you've recovered.
  • Clotting disorders, blood-thinning medication, uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune conditions, pacemakers / electronic implantsthese require individual assessment.
  • A skin lesion of unclear naturediagnostics first, then a decision on removal.

From the specialist's chair

The thing most often underestimated: tanning and sun. Clients ask "can I come straight from holiday?" No — we won't treat freshly tanned skin, and afterwards we protect it from the sun for weeks. It's not a fussy rule — it's the difference between a beautiful result and hyperpigmentation.

This isn't a complete list — we'll go through your medications, health conditions, phototype and previous treatments individually at consultation.

After the treatment: sun protection isn't optional

Freshly healed skin is highly prone to hyperpigmentation. SPF 50+ is an absolute requirement for many weeks after the treatment — without it, even perfectly performed work can end up with a dark patch. It's the simplest way to protect the result we've just achieved.

What to expect

No surprises

The key point: there's real downtime here, and it needs planning for. Swelling appears right after the treatment (it can be quite pronounced around the eyelids), and small scabs form at the treated points, which need to fall off on their own. The final lifting result only reveals itself once the swelling has gone down and the skin has fully healed, and it continues to improve for weeks as collagen rebuilds.

  1. Faza 1.first few daysswelling (eyelids may look puffy), small scabs form
  2. Faza 2.a few daysscabs darken and start to lift off — never pick at them
  3. Faza 3.up to ~2 weeksscabs fall off on their own, skin may still be pink
  4. Faza 4.weeks to monthscollagen rebuilds — the lifting effect settles and deepens
The most common mistake after treatment is picking at scabs "because they look bad". Every scab you pick off risks a scar or hyperpigmentation — exactly what we're trying to avoid. Golden rule: don't touch, don't scratch, let them fall off on their own. Aftercare heals; patience protects the result.

Duration depends on the size and number of areas — from a short, targeted treatment (single lesions) to a longer session covering both eyelids. We confirm the exact plan at consultation.

What's normal after the treatment

  • swelling — especially of the eyelids, strongest in the first few days;
  • small, dark scabs at the points treated with plasma — they come off on their own;
  • redness and pinkness of the skin, lasting even after the scabs have fallen off;
  • a feeling of tightness and mild itching during healing.

Once fully healed, the result usually lasts from a year to several years. Skin naturally continues to age over time, so some people choose to repeat the treatment after a while.

Plasma IQ and your lifestyle

What you can do, and when

The questions here aren't about the treatment itself, but about the healing period: make-up, sun, pools, sport. There's one rule — while the skin is healing, we protect it from sun, moisture, sweat and mechanical irritation, to avoid scarring and hyperpigmentation.

  1. Sun and sunbeds

    avoid until fully healed

    This is absolutely the most important point: healing skin exposed to sun = risk of permanent hyperpigmentation. Avoid sun and sunbeds while healing, and afterwards use SPF 50+ without exception — for many weeks.

  2. Make-up on the treated area

    only once the scabs have gone

    We don't apply make-up or pore-clogging products over an area with scabs. You return to it only once the skin has healed — your specialist will tell you exactly when.

  3. Pool, sauna, hot baths

    until healed

    Chlorine, high temperatures, steam and sweat soften scabs and irritate the healing skin. Pools, saunas and hot baths — only once fully healed.

  4. Intense sport and sweating

    hold off during healing

    Heavy sweating and increased blood flow can cause irritation and slow healing. Save intense exercise for after the scabs have gone.

  5. Healing aftercare

    as instructed

    Gentle cleansing and your prescribed regenerating cream are your allies — use them exactly as your specialist recommends. No acids, retinol or peels until fully healed.

  6. Work and social events

    plan around the downtime

    You'll be able to return to most jobs while accepting visible scabs for a few to around two weeks. It's best to schedule important events and photoshoots after healing.

Frequently asked questions

  1. QuestionCan Plasma IQ really replace eyelid surgery?
    AnswerFor moderate excess skin, the result can be comparable to blepharoplasty, but without cutting or general anaesthesia. For a large excess of skin, plasma may not be enough — in that case, we honestly refer you to a surgeon. This is always confirmed at qualification.
  2. QuestionHow long is the downtime — when can I be around people again?
    AnswerThis treatment has a real healing period. For the first few days you'll see swelling, and small scabs form where the plasma was applied, usually coming off after around two weeks. You can return to most work sooner, accepting visible scabs. Plan important events after healing.
  3. QuestionHow long does the result last?
    AnswerUsually from a year to several years. Skin naturally continues to age over time, so some people repeat the treatment after a while.
  4. QuestionWhen will I see the final result?
    AnswerOnce the swelling has gone down and the scabs have fallen off — the full lifting effect continues to build for weeks as collagen rebuilds.
