HAIR EXTENSIONS & THICKENING

Length in one morning
“flat bonds”

Dreaming of longer, fuller hair "right now", but wary of heavy fusion bonds and stiff joins? The tape-in method is today's most comfortable way to extend and thicken hair. We attach ready-made, flat strands with strong double-sided tape right at the root of your own hair — no keratin melting, no hot tools, no hard "knots" you can feel under your fingers. The bonds lie flat and disappear under your hair, so your style looks and moves naturally from the very first moment.

This is a hairdressing and styling service. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before you sit in the chair — including how to care for the tapes at home and what a "move-up" actually means.

  • You want instant length
  • You want density, not just length
  • Your hair doesn't tolerate heavy fusion
  • You value comfort
  • You want a "renewable" method
  • You're after a fuller ponytail or updo

How it works

How it works

The tape method, also known as tape-in or informally as bio-tapes, uses ready-made, flat strands of natural hair finished at the top with a thin strip of strong, double-sided adhesive tape. Your stylist applies them "sandwich-style" — a strand above and below encloses a thin layer of your own hair right at the root. No keratin melting, no hot fusion, no hard beads.

The result? The bonds lie completely flat and are practically undetectable to the touch, and the added hair moves together with your own. Application is quick, and wearing them is exceptionally comfortable — which is why tapes are now one of the most popular methods, especially for hair that "doesn't like" heavy, point-fusion bonds.

A close-up of the bond itself: the attached strand and your own strand meet in a small, transparent weld that catches the warm light. The scalp is deliberately out of frame — the treatment happens on the hair, not in the tissue. A flat tape clamps onto your own strand a few millimetres from the scalp. No load is placed on the scalp — the bond sits on the hair.

Ideal for

Ideal for

  1. You want instant lengthenjoy your new style the same day, with no waiting for your hair to grow.
  2. You want density, not just lengthtapes work brilliantly for thickening hair that's fine or thinning towards the ends.
  3. Your hair doesn't tolerate heavy fusionflat tapes distribute weight evenly and are gentler on the root.
  4. You value comfortno hard knots digging into your scalp while you sleep.
  5. You want a "renewable" methodas your hair grows, the strands can be moved up and reused.
  6. You're after a fuller ponytail or updowith well-placed tapes, the bonds stay hidden.
Red flag: when to see a trichologist first

If you're noticing increased shedding, thinning or visible patches of scalp — this isn't the moment for extensions. Tapes add visual volume, but they don't treat the underlying cause and won't make your hair grow back. In this situation, book a trichology consultation and treatment or scalp mesotherapy first — we'll return to styling once your hair's condition allows it.

Women's and men's needs

What differs

For her

Women and tapes — different reasons, the same result

This is classic hair extension and thickening for women — the most common reason for a visit. The goal varies: from dramatic length to discreetly adding density where hair is "thinning at the ends". Flat tapes sit beautifully in loose hair and let you wear a fuller ponytail or updo.

The areas we support

  1. adding length — hair down to the shoulders, shoulder blades or beyond;
  2. thickening fine hair without adding length;
  3. adding volume on one side, or wherever it "sticks out";
  4. a base for colour without dyeing — weaving in darker or lighter strands.
For him

Men and tapes — an honest conversation from the start

For men, the topic is usually thickening thinning hair, not dramatic length — and here we need to be direct. Tapes can discreetly add density to longer hair, but with real hair loss or a receding hairline, this isn't the right tool. In that case there's only one path: a trichology consultation first, and only afterwards a conversation about styling.

The areas we support

  1. thickening longer, thinning hair (when there's something for the tape to hold onto);
  2. with hair loss / receding hairline → trichology first, not extensions;
  3. choosing the right method and an honest assessment of the result at consultation.

Did you know: you can wear the same strands multiple times. At a move-up, your stylist removes the tapes, refreshes the adhesive strip, and reapplies them higher up — at the new regrowth. That's why tapes are sometimes called a "renewable" method: you're not buying new hair every few weeks, just repositioning the hair you already have.

What to expect during your visit

  1. Consultation & colour matchingyour stylist assesses the length, density and condition of your hair, chooses the strand shade (often blending several so they "melt in"), and establishes a realistic result.
  2. Preparationwashing and thoroughly drying your hair; tape only holds on a root that's clean and free from oils and conditioners.
  3. "Sandwich" applicationstrands applied flat right at the root, in a carefully planned layout, so the bonds stay hidden and the weight is distributed evenly.
  4. Cutting and stylingblending the extensions into your style with scissors, shaping and final styling.
  5. Aftercare instructionswe show you how to wash, comb and sleep with tapes, and which products to avoid. This stage determines how long the tapes look good for.

What to expect

No surprises

Most importantly: your finished style is ready straight away. No downtime, no healing — you leave the salon with longer, fuller hair. On the first day, you may feel a slight "awareness" of the bonds at the root; this usually fades within a day or two, once you get used to it.

  1. Faza 1.day of applicationfinished style; you learn a new aftercare and combing routine
  2. Faza 2.first few daysyou get used to the bonds — the awareness of the tapes fades
  3. Faza 3.following weeksnormal wear; your own hair grows, and the tape gradually moves away from the root
  4. Faza 4.move-uponce regrowth becomes visible — we remove and reapply the same strands higher up
  5. Faza 5.after a few monthsthe strands wear out — replace with new ones or remove
The most common thing I hear after a week: "I think my tape has come loose near my face". This is usually not a fault in the application, but conditioner or oil that got too close to the root. Tape adhesive doesn't like oil. Simply apply care products from mid-length down, and the tape holds as it should.
From your stylist

What's normal at the start

  • slight awareness of the tapes at the root in the first few days — you'll soon stop noticing them;
  • getting used to a "new routine" of combing — gently from the root, ideally with a brush designed for extensions;
  • needing to sleep with your hair tied or braided so it doesn't tangle.

A move-up is normal, not a failure. Your hair grows, so over time the bond moves away from the root and becomes visible — at that point, you book a touch-up, and your stylist reapplies the same strands higher up. I'll tell you this plainly at your consultation, so you can plan your budget and time sensibly.

Home care

What you can and can't do, and when

Tapes are convenient, but adhesive has two enemies: oil and friction at the root. The whole home routine comes down to leaving the bonds alone and directing your care to the lengths.

  1. Oils and oil-based conditioners

    never at the root

    This is the most important rule: oils and rich, oil-based conditioners applied at the root loosen the tape and shorten its lifespan. Use care products only from mid-length down, avoiding the bonds.

  2. Sleep

    tie or braid your hair

    Sleep with your hair loosely braided or tied. Let wet hair dry before bed — moisture and friction against the pillow speed up tangling near the bonds.

  3. Washing

    gently, no scrubbing

    Wash with a gentle, silicone-free shampoo, massaging the scalp with your fingertips — not your nails — and without vigorous scrubbing at the root. Rinse thoroughly and dry well — damp bonds are the enemy of durability.

  4. Combing

    bottom to top

    Detangle from the ends upwards, using a soft brush designed for extensions. Be gentle at the root — never tug sharply at the bonds.

  5. Straighteners and curling irons

    avoid the bonds

    You can style your hair, but never touch the tape strip itself with a hot tool — high heat softens the adhesive. Work on the lengths only.

  6. Pool, sauna, sea

    protect and rinse

    Chlorine, salt and high heat weaken the adhesive. Tie your hair back before swimming, and rinse it with clean water and dry it as soon as possible afterwards.

When tapes won't work

And what to do instead

Tapes are a great method, but not for every type of hair or every situation. Sometimes it's better to postpone the application, or choose a different route — we'll say so directly at consultation.

  1. Hair that's too shortthe tape needs something to hold onto and something to hide under; on very short hair, the bonds will show.
  2. Very fine or quickly greasy hairtape holds less well here; sometimes a different method, or strengthening the hair first, is a better choice.
  3. Recent, intense chemical treatmentright after heavy lightening or a perm, it's worth letting your hair rest and recover before adding extensions.
  4. Hair loss, thinning, visible scalp patchesthis signals a trichological issue; a consultation and treatment or scalp mesotherapy comes first.
  5. Tendency towards root irritationif the scalp is sensitive or irritated, we'll wait until it settles.

From your stylist

I'd rather advise against something than disappoint you. If I see that tapes won't hold well, or that the cause of "thin hair" is something a trichologist should address — I'll say so right away. An honest conversation at the start beats disappointment two weeks later.

Frequently asked questions

  1. QuestionWill it be obvious that these are extensions?
    AnswerWith well-matched colour and thoughtfully placed strands, the bonds hide under your hair and lie flat. We'll show you how to comb and style your hair so they stay invisible — including in a ponytail.
  2. QuestionWill tapes damage my hair?
    AnswerThe tape method is one of the gentler options — no heat, no point-fusion bonds, weight distributed flat. Correct aftercare and regular move-ups are key. Neglected tapes that aren't moved up on time can tangle hair at the root.
  3. QuestionHow long do tapes last?
    AnswerYou wear them for several months, but as your hair grows, the bond moves away from the root and needs a move-up every few weeks. The strands themselves, if well cared for, can be reapplied — it's a renewable method.
  4. QuestionWill tapes make my hair grow?
    AnswerNo. Extensions give instant length and density, but they don't speed up your own hair's growth. This is a styling service, not a treatment — if you want to improve the condition of your own hair, let's talk about repair treatments or trichology.

Information. Tape-in hair extensions (tape-in / bio-tapes) are a hairdressing and styling service; the results and how long they last depend on the method, the quality of the added hair, the condition of your own hair and your home care, and they require a touch-up (move-up) as your hair grows. If you're experiencing hair loss or thinning, a trichology consultation is recommended first. This text is for information only. The details and choice of method are determined by your stylist during your visit.
