HAIR EXTENSIONS & THICKENING

A full, natural result
“keratin bonds”

Do you dream of hair that's longer, fuller and denser — right away, with no waiting for it to "grow out"? Extensions with keratin bonds (bonding) are the most classic and proven extension method: individual strands of natural hair are joined to your own with small keratin capsules heated close to the root.

The result is remarkably natural — the strands move like your own hair, and you can tie them into a ponytail, part them and style them without restrictions. This is the right choice if you want a long, full result that lasts, not just for one evening. At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by our hair extension stylist. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your first visit — honestly, with no empty promises.

  • You want longer hair right away
  • You dream of a fuller, thicker hairstyle
  • You love tying your hair up and styling it
  • You want a lasting result
  • You want a result that's indistinguishable from your own hair
  • Your hair is healthy and strong enough to carry the strands

How it works

How it works

Keratin bonds are the most popular and best-proven extension method. Your stylist divides your hair into thin sections and attaches an individual strand of hair to each, finished with a small keratin capsule. We heat the capsule close to the root until it softens slightly and wraps around your hair — creating a small, discreet connection that holds securely for several months.

Importantly, keratin is the same material your own hair is made of, so the bond feels soft and natural to the touch. The bonds are small enough to disappear among your own hair — no one will guess you have extensions. And at the end, we dissolve them with a special product, so the strands simply come away — we never pull them out.

A close-up of the bond itself: the attached strand and your own strand meet in a small, transparent weld that catches the warm light. The scalp is deliberately out of frame — the treatment happens on the hair, not in the tissue. A keratin weld encloses your own strand a few millimetres from the scalp. No load is placed on the scalp — the bond sits on the hair.

Ideal for

Ideal for

  1. You want longer hair right awaywithout waiting months for your own hair to grow.
  2. You dream of a fuller, thicker hairstylekeratin adds volume beautifully to thin hair.
  3. You love tying your hair up and styling itbonds give you full freedom: ponytail, bun, waves, a parting on either side.
  4. You want a lasting resultthis is a method for the long term, not just one evening like clip-ins.
  5. You want a result that's indistinguishable from your own hairthis is where classic bonds really shine.
  6. Your hair is healthy and strong enough to carry the strandsthis is a condition your stylist assesses during consultation.
  7. If you'd prefer a lighter version or have finer hair — let's talk about mini-bonds (nanobonds), which are smaller and gentler on the root. If you'd rather choose a method without melting keratin, take a look at micro-links — strands secured with micro-rings instead of heat.

The women's zone and the men's zone

What's different

For her

Why women choose bonds specifically

Keratin extensions for women are a classic choice — most often used to add length and density at the same time: shoulder-length hair becomes a full style down to the shoulder blades, and a thin ponytail becomes a full, dense one. Your stylist chooses the shade (often several tones for natural depth) and distributes the strands so the result looks soft and moves naturally, with the bonds invisible even when your hair is tied up.

The areas we support

  1. Adding length — from a short/medium bob to long hair;
  2. Adding density to thin, "sparse" hair all over the head;
  3. Strands in a different shade — a highlighting effect without dyeing (sombre, baby lights);
  4. Filling in after an unsuccessful haircut, or while growing your hair out.
For him

Keratin extensions and the men's zone — an honest view

Classic keratin extensions are primarily a service for women. For men, the topic most often concerns thickening thinning hair — and here, one boundary matters: if hair is genuinely falling out or receding, this isn't a job for styling. It's a signal to check the condition of the scalp first.

The areas we support

  1. Local thickening — individual thinning areas, not the whole head;
  2. A "more hair" effect while keeping a shorter, masculine length — limited;
  3. When hair is falling out or recedingconsultation and trichology treatment first, not extensions.

Did you know? Keratin capsules are made from the same keratin as your own hair and nails — that's why the bond feels so soft and natural, and why removing the strands is as simple as dissolving the keratin with the right product. No pulling, no force.

Safety

What really determines the result

With extensions, the result and the condition of your own hair depend on a few things worth asking about at any salon:

  1. Who performs the treatment

Good keratin extensions call for precision — from the distribution and number of strands to the bonding technique itself. At J'adore, this is done by a trained hair extension stylist, who assesses the condition of your hair before application.

  2. The quality of the added hair

This is crucial — good-quality natural hair looks and behaves like your own, while cheap "synthetics" tangle and have an unnatural shine. Ask about the origin and type of the strands.

  3. Whether your hair can carry the weight

Bonds that are too heavy or too thick on thin, weakened hair put strain on the root. Your stylist chooses the number and thickness of strands to match the real condition of your hair — not for maximum effect.

  4. Home care

You're responsible for half the result — how you wash, brush and dry your hair affects both how long it lasts and how healthy it stays underneath the bonds.

🚩 A warning sign: when NOT to apply bonds · If you notice your hair falling out more than usual, thinning, or your hairline receding — that's a signal to see a trichologist first, rather than putting extra strain on a weakened root with extensions. Also be careful with straighteners and high heat directly on the bond — the keratin can soften and the strand can slip (style away from the capsules). And don't apply heavy, thick bonds to very fine, weakened hair — that's too much strain. A good stylist will spot this and advise against overloading your hair.

  3. Keratin bonding — treatment at J'adore Instytut — Applying the strands

    Applying the strands

strand by strand, each attached with a keratin capsule heated at the root. This is the longest stage — patience and a comfortable position help.

  4. Brushing and styling

once all the strands are in place, we cut and style the whole head so the extensions blend seamlessly with your own hair.

  5. Care instructions

we show you how to wash, brush and dry your hair so it lasts as long as possible.

  1. Faza 1.Day of the treatmentYou leave with a ready-made, longer, fuller hairstyle — zero downtime
  2. Faza 2.The first few daysYou get used to your new hair: brushing from the bottom up, gentle washing, a soft brush
  3. Faza 3.A few weeksThe bonds move lower as your own hair grows out — this is normal
  4. Faza 4.Touch-upRepositioning the strands as your hair grows out, or removal and reapplication
The thing I hear most often, after a few weeks, is: "my bonds have slipped!" That's not a mistake — your hair has simply grown, and the capsules have moved lower. That's why we book a touch-up: we reposition the strands closer to the root and your hairstyle looks fresh again. This is the natural rhythm of extensions, not a complication.

Home care

To make it last longer

Extensions are an investment worth looking after. The good news: the rules are simple, you just need to make them a habit. Here's what to do, what to hold off on, and what to avoid.

  1. Washing your hair

    Gently, without SLS

Wash with your head upright (don't tilt it far back under the shower), using a gentle, sulphate-free shampoo. Apply conditioner and mask only to the lengths, avoiding the bonds and the root.

  2. Brushing

From the bottom up, with a soft brush

Brush from the ends upwards, holding the strand steady at the root. Use a soft brush designed for extensions — an ordinary "boar bristle" brush can catch on the bonds.

  3. Straighteners near the bonds

    Avoid the capsules

Don't apply straighteners or curling tongs directly to the bond — under high heat, keratin softens and the strand can slip. Style the lengths, and leave the root alone.

  4. Sleep and habits

    Plait your hair at night

At night, tie your hair into a loose plait or bun and sleep on a silk pillowcase — this means less tangling at the root. Don't go to sleep with wet hair.

  5. Oils and conditioners near the root

    Ends only

Rich oils and heavy conditioners applied right at the bond can weaken it and cause the strand to slip. Care for the ends, and stay away from the capsules.

  6. Swimming pool, sauna, sea

    With caution

Chlorine and salt water dry out the strands. Tie your hair up before swimming, and rinse and moisturise the lengths thoroughly afterwards. Very hot saunas near the bonds — in moderation.

HAIR EXTENSIONS & THICKENING

When to postpone or skip extensions

Keratin extensions are a styling service, but they're not always the right choice "right here, right now". Sometimes it's better to wait, or to deal with your hair's condition first.

  1. Hair loss, thinning, a receding hairlinea trichology consultation first, rather than putting strain on a weakened root.
  2. Very short hairhair that's too short won't hide the attachment points; we need a minimum length for the bonds to disappear among your hair.
  3. Recent, intensive chemical treatment(heavy bleaching, a perm, chemical straightening just before) — it's better to let weakened hair recover first.
  4. Very fine, brittle hairpossible, but in the lighter version (nanobonds) and with fewer strands; your stylist will assess this.
  5. Scalp problems(inflammation, flaking, recent treatments) — we wait until the scalp has settled.

From your stylist's perspective

The hardest but most honest conversation is the one about hair loss. Clients sometimes want to "mask" thinning hair with extensions — but that works the other way round: it puts extra strain on an already weak root. In that case, I say it plainly: see a trichologist first, then think about styling. That's not a refusal — it's about looking after your hair.

This isn't a complete list — we'll go through your hair history, previous colouring and scalp condition individually during consultation.

Frequently asked questions

  1. QuestionWill keratin bonds be visible?
AnswerWith healthy hair and the right number of strands — no. The capsules are small and disappear among your own hair, and you can part your hair on either side and tie it up. This is one of the strongest features of this method.
  2. QuestionHow long will the extensions last?
AnswerSecurely, for several months, though the bonds gradually move lower as your own hair grows out. That's why we book a touch-up every few weeks — repositioning the strands closer to the root. This is the natural rhythm of the method, not a flaw.
  3. QuestionWill extensions make my hair grow?
AnswerNo — these are added strands that give an instant effect of length and density. Your own hair grows at its own pace. Extensions are styling for "right now", not a way to make hair grow faster.

Information. Keratin extensions (bonds/bonding) are a hairdressing and styling service; results and how long they last depend on the method, the quality of the added hair, the condition of your own hair, home care, and require touch-ups as your hair grows out. If you're experiencing hair loss or thinning, a trichology consultation is recommended first. This text is for information only. Details and method selection are decided by the stylist during your visit.
